Lena gripped the blade again and prepared to make another cut when there was a knock on the door. “ Hey Len, you ok? You've been in there a while.” Lena glanced up to see the door knob start to turn. ' Shit shit shit!' She thought. “ Just a second Jess.” She washed the blood down the drain and walked to the door, shoving the blade in her pocket as she did so. She threw the door open and plastered a fake smile on her face.
“ Oh good. I was afraid you had fallen in.” “ Ha ha very funny Jess. You know I like to take my time in the tub. Its the only chance I get to relax.” “So you say. Anyways, we're going to that party at Stevenson wanna come with?” “ I'll pass. I don't want to go back to the campus unless I have to.” “ So you're just gonna sit in the apartment alone with nothing to do?” “ No I'm going on a walk then I'm going to bed.”
Jessica sighed. “ Alrighty then. Just promise me you'll be careful out there. Theres been a lot of disappearances lately. Lena smiled at her friend's concern. “ Don't worry I'll be fine.” She said as she started to walk down the hall. “ And don't forget to wear a jacket. You don't want to catch a cold.” Jessica called after her. “ Yes mom.” She hollered over her shoulder as she grabbed her sweat shirt and walked out the door.
Lena exited the building and started her walk along her usual path. As much as she loved Jessica she could really get on her nerves sometimes.
She had always tried to mother her but this passed year things had gotten worse. Sometimes she wished she would just leave her alone but she knew that if she did, she would be greatly missed. She probably wouldn't have survived this last year if it hadn't been for Jessica.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a piercing scream. Without a moments hesitation she took off in the direction it had came from. In less than two minutes time she arrived at the source. A group of five vampires were feeding on three girls. Looks like she was going to have some fun tonight after all.
She slowed down and approached the group quietly, taking in the situation. She could tell that one of the girls was dead but the other two were barely still alive. She would have to work fast if she wanted to save them. The vampires heard her approaching and they turned to growl at her. “ Oh look a party. And here I thought I wasn't going to have any fun tonight. Care if I join you?” The vamps growled at her again. “ I'll take that as a yes.”
She rushed in and staked the first vampire she came to. “ Slayer!” The one on her right hissed. “ Oh aren't you clever. Good observation captain obvious.” She advanced on him and punched him hard in the face. She prepared to hit him again but he grabbed her arm and pinned it behind her back. As he held her another vamp rushed her from the side. She kicked out, connecting with his chest and sending him flying across the grass.
She twisted out of the vampire's grasp and gave him a roundhouse kick to the head. She pulled out another stake and slammed it home. “ Two down, three to go.” She turned to the next vampire and dropped into a fighting stance. “ Prepare to die slayer.” The vampire growled at her. She rolled her eyes and threw her stake, nailing him in the heart.
She was too busy gloating over her victory that she didn't notice the remaining two vampires approaching. Before she knew it she was pinned to a tree un-able to move. “ I've always wanted to kill a slayer.” She swallowed hard. “ You're scared, good. It'll make your blood sweeter.”
Her heart beat wildly in fear. The vampire lowered his fangs to her neck. “ Don't worry slayer, this will only hurt for a minute.” She desperately looked for a way out and saw none. She knew in her heart that this was it. Tonight was the night she was going to die.
