The next night, Kathlin and Buffy met Xander, Willow, and Angel at the Bronze. There was a DJ playing instead of a band and everyone was having fun inside. The five threaded their way to a table and sat down. Four of them ordered drinks, but Buffy didn’t wait for hers’. She dragged Angel out onto the dance floor and they disappeared in all the people. The rest of them sat at a table, sipping their drinks and talking for awhile. A slow song (All I Have To Give by the Backstreet Boys) came on and Kathlin looked at Willow, who desperately wanted to ask Xander to dance. She smiled and asked Xander “Hey Xander, would you dance this song with Willow?” Willow looked horrified, but as he brought her onto the dance floor, she relaxed. Suddenly, someone tapped Kathlin on the shoulder. A tall guy wearing all black, from head to toe, motioned her onto the dance floor. She moved smoothly into his arms and the dance never seemed to end. They fit perfectly together. When it did end, the guy started to walk away from her. She reached out and grabbed his hand as another, faster song came on. She pulled him back and they continued to dance. “Hey, who’s that guy dancing with Kathlin?” Buffy asked Angel as they watched the two dancing to fast and slow songs. Just then, Xander cut in and the black guy dissipated into the crowd. They danced to the playing song, then Kathlin went to sit down, winded. She took a big sip of her drink as the song switched to another Backstreet Boys’ song- Hey, Mr. DJ. Angel came over and asked her to dance so Buffy could catch her breath. They went out onto the dance floor, but neither noticed Kathlin’s lost dance partner, watching from the shadows as she danced. When the song was over, he disappeared as they all sat down to rest. Willow looked to Kathlin, “Who’s that guy you were dancing with?” Kathlin smiled.
"I wish I knew. He’s an awesome dancer. When Xander cut in, he just…vanished. I wonder where he went.” She scanned the dance floor, but didn’t see him. Disappointed, she sat down again. Xander looked at his watch.
"It’s 10:30pm. Shall we be going, ladies?” All five stood up. Buffy looked to Angel.
"Go with them, in case of activity. I have to go hunting, otherwise Giles will have my head. Kathlin, I should be home in an hour, hopefully, but I have to stop in to see Giles. Stall?” Kathlin smiled and nodded. Buffy kissed Angel on the cheek and walked out of the club. The rest of them picked up their bags and headed out the door.
