I look at the picture. It was Rachel. I meet her in a bar in Boston a couple of years before this unholy mess fell in my lap. I look at the picture again, and then at this girl in front of me. I asked her my birthdate and after she told me, I started to do the math. Oh, boy! I hand the picture back to her.
"Yeah...nice picture."
"Something wrong, Chainsaw Man?"
"Why in the hell would anything be wrong, Faith?"
"Hey, just asking."
I suddenly felt bad about yelling at her, I don't know why. I mean, let's face it, her mom wasn't actually the poster child for good decisions. "Sorry, for yelling. You okay?"
"Five by five."
"Hey, I like that. That's what the military uses to test their communications and shit."
She looked impressed, "You know, you are the only one that gets that."
We both laugh, and then it hits me. I look into her eyes, and...she has my eyes. Thank God she doesn't have my chin. She grabs the picture and leaves and is almost knocked over by Giles.
"Ash, look at this writing Willow found."
I look at it. It was a parchment, just like the one I found that had Xander's name on it. It showed a man with a chainsaw on his right arm, and a dark haired woman with a stake. I stare at the parchment, and then look at the door.
"It says that a hero and his daughter would finally defeat the Deadites for good."
"Giles...Faith just showed me a picture of her mother and it's a woman I banged about 22 years ago."
"Oh, Faith is 22....oh dear lord."
"You took the words right out of my mouth, 'Poindexter.'
Faith came back into the room to get her leather jacket that she left just as Giles said, "Would you please stop calling me that."
"Giles, Ash....hey, what's wrong?"
I stood up. "Faith, you're my...daughter."
"What the fuck?"
