Satan clapped his red hands, and a magical contract appeared.
"SIGN HER, DEAR ONE. IF YOU WIN, ANGEL MAY GO BACK TO EARTH. IF YOU LOSE, HE STAYS WITH ME, AS DO YOU." Buffy pondered her choices.
"Deal . . .
" She signed her name at the bottom of the contract. Once it was there, black smoke closed in on Buffy and Angel. An unseen force tore them apart from each other.
"Angel! NO!" cried Buffy. She was flung through space, falling. She landed with a thud on rock. Her eyes opened, and she saw a giant, fiery pit below her. Satan sat in a red throne, the minions dancing around him in joy. Satan's voice shushed everyone.
"LISTEN TO ME! BUFFY SUMMERS HAS AGREED TO FIGHT FOR THE LIFE OF HER PRECIOUS ANGEL. IF SHE LOOSES, SHE IS OURS. IF SHE WINS, ANGEL GOES FREE."
Satan clapped his hands again. A giant maze appeared, with Angel hung in the center (hung by his hands, not his neck).
"IF YOU CAN GO THROUGH THE MAZE AND RESCUE ANGEL IN 1 HOUR, YOU WIN. IF 1 HOUR IS UP AND YOU'VE NOT DON SO, OR IF YOU DIE IN THE PROCESS, YOU OBVIOUSLY LOOSE!!!" Satan laughed. 'GO, ME DEAR. TRY YOUR BEST!" he mocked her. Buffy ran through the maze. Not 5 minutes after she started, a sharp pain caught her shoulder. She turned to see Willow shooting arrows at her.
"This is even better than science class!" Willow laughed. Buffy's eyes were betrayed, but then she realized Satan was trying to trick her. Buffy lunged at the fake Willow. She threw her down, knocking the arrows from her grasp. With one swift movement, she slammed an arrow into Willow's heart. Willow fell to the ground, dead. Buffy stuffed the arrow into her back pocket.
Buffy continued to run. She had lost some 20 minutes. She rounded a corner, only to be knocked down by a Giles look-a-like.
"Slayer and Watcher, duking it out. Now it's me turn to play." This Giles was more fiercer than Willow was. He punched Buffy continuously. Buffy did a roundhouse kick and sent Giles sprawling to the ground. Then Giles stood up, eyes blazing. Half of his face was torn away to reveal a robot. Buffy gasped, memories of Ted swarming her mind. She backed up. The robot Giles roared, and leaped to tear her head off. Buffy stuck her fist out, and it went straight through the robot's body. Circuits flew, burning Buffy's skin and slicing her hand. Buffy threw the robot down and starting to run again. Only 25 more minutes . . .
Buffy came across one more corner, and saw him. She had made it! Angel was right in front of her, dangling from midair. Buffy hurried to him.
"Angel! Angel, I'm here!" she yelled to him. Just as she reached him, someone tackled her from the side. The person pinned her to the ground by her wrists, and sat on her stomach.
"Sorry, Buffy. No more rescues, no more chances, and no more Angel." Buffy opened her eyes to stare at Xander. He was on her, pressing her arms deep into the molten rock. Buffy gasped. "You like Angel, don't you? He's strong, handsome, caring, and protective of you. He's also very dangerous. I can be, too, Buffy. I can be dangerous if you like it. But you never loved me. You just wanted to be 'friends'. Well, now I'm gonna make it more than that!" cried Xander. He leaned down and kissed Buffy. Not a normal kiss, but a passionate one. Buffy found herself kissing back. The kiss lasted a long time. Xander stopped, staring at her. At that second, Buffy jumped up. Xander flew off, but regained his balance. Buffy stepped up to him, eyes blazing.
She craned her neck, as if to give him another kiss. Xander grinned and started to kiss her again. But Buffy pulled away.
"So sorry, Xander, but losers are so out!" With that, Buffy stabbed Xander's heart with the extra arrow. Xander's eyes went wide, and he crumbled to dust. Buffy stood, triumphant. Her right shoulder was seeped in blood from Willow's arrow, her hand damaged from the robot, and her clothes torn from it all. Buffy leapt up to Angel. She untied his hands, and pulled him to her. Angel sat on the ground, supported by Buffy.
"I made it, Angel . . . I rescued you . . ." Angel smiled a tiny smile.
"You did it. Now we can finally go home." he whispered. They were about to kiss when Satan's voice shattered the moment.
"AH-AH-AHHHH! WRONGO, ANGEL."
