Kennedy woke up early the next morning to a still sleeping Willow. Quietly, she got out of bed and went to her training room. She needed to hit something. She carefully climbed over many sleeping people in her living room. Deciding it was best to stick together until the purpose of this attack on Willow was solved, the gang had all spent the night at Kennedy and Willow’s apartment.

Kennedy entered her training room, only to find it already occupied by Charlotte, who was punching the punching bag hanging from the ceiling.

“Oh, hey,” she said, noticing Kennedy. “Sorry, do you want to use this? I can leave.”

“No, that’s alright,” Kennedy said. “You can stay, I can use something else.”

“If you’re sure it’s okay,” she said, smiling.

“Yeah, it’s fine,” Kennedy said, going over to the mats to stretch before her workout. “Couldn’t sleep?” she asked Charlotte.

“I was kind of riled from the night’s activities. Plus Faith snores louder then anything I have every heard.”

This made Kennedy chuckle, remembering their nights at the Summers’ house in Sunnydale and how Faith’s snoring could be heard by almost everyone in the entire house, no matter where they made her sleep.

The two girls worked out in silence for a while. “So, what’s wrong with Willow?” Charlotte asked, breaking the silence.

Kennedy looked at her, wondering what she should say. The other slayers weren’t supposed to know, but that had already changed.

“She’s sick,” she said. “Has been for a while, ever since she made us.”

Charlotte looked at the floor. “That must be hard for you,” she said sympathetically.

“It is,” Kennedy said, immediately feeling guilty. “I mean, it’s not hard, it’s fine, we’re good, really good, it’s just…” She trailed off, looking up at Charlotte. She didn’t know why, but she felt like she could open up to this girl. “Sometimes it feels kind of like an obligation, taking care of her. I mean, I love her, it’s just—is that a horrible thing to say?”

“I don’t think so,” Charlotte said. “I think…”

She was interrupted by Dawn running into the room. “Kennedy, Willow, she’s having another one. I went to go in and check on her. I heard screams and someone talking and she was out of bed, throwing things. She’s punched a hole through the wall.”

Kennedy jumped up. Smiling quickly at Charlotte, she left. “Dawn, I need you to wake Faith and Vi and get the rope out of my weapons chest.”

After several minutes the three slayers were able to tie one Willow to the bed. It was the only way Kennedy could think to keep Willow still and not do anything crazy, like putting another hole in their wall.

Kennedy heard the buzzer. Who the hell could that be? She thought. “Would somebody please let whoever that is in?” she yelled from the bedroom.

Susie went to open the door and came face to face with Buffy and Xander. “Can I help you?” she asked, looking at the ground.

“We are looking for Willow and Kennedy,” Buffy said. “Do we have the right address?”

“Maybe.” Frederick came up behind Susie protectively. “That depends on who’s asking.”

Buffy rolled her eyes. “Who are you? Listen, do they live her or not? If they do, can you please tell them Buffy is here?” she said, exasperated.

“Buffy.” Frederick looked stunned. “The Buffy, oh no, I am so sorry, I didn’t know who you were. I would have never…if I had known… I’ll get them, please, come in, come in.”

One very flustered Frederick ran to get Kennedy. Buffy and Xander entered the highly destroyed apartment. “Well, this sort of destruction looks familiar. Kind of like home, huh, Xan?”

“I have to admit, the after fight clean up and repair is one thing I haven’t missed,” Xander said, looking around. “Looks like it was one hell of a fight.”

“We were attacked by some wicked cool demons this time, B. You should have been there,” Faith said, jogging up to Buffy. “Long time no see. How the hell have you been?”

“Faith, it’s good to see you,” Buffy said, smiling.

“And Xander,” Faith said, grinning. “You were about the last person I expected to see here,” she said, eyeing him. “Finally decided to come up from the bottle for some air?”

“Faith,” Buffy said, shocked. Well, not exactly shocked. It was Faith. “Where’s Dawn?”

Dawn appeared from the bedroom. “Buffy, before you go into lecture mode…” She stopped, noticing Xander for the first time. “Xander?” she said, whispering. He smiled at her, sheepishly. “XANDER!” She screamed and ran to him, jumping into his arms and giving him a giant hug. “I missed you so much! I can’t believe you’re here. Right here!”

After about the longest hug in the history of all hugs, Dawn pried herself away from Xander, although she didn’t stand more then a foot from him at all times.

Kennedy greeted Xander coolly, remembering the heartache his leaving had caused Willow. She missed him so much. “So where’s Willow?” he asked brightly.

Kennedy looked at him pained. He didn’t know, she thought. “Come on, Xander. There’s some stuff you need to know,” she said, leading him to the bedroom.
