. . . “Wait I think I know what’s going on.” Xander said

Xander walked up to Buffy and whispered softly into her ear . . .

“If you don’t smile and thank them for their hard work I’m going to kill all of them before you can even move.”

At first she looked at Xander with confusion then a big smile crossed her face.

“Thanks you guys this is great.” Buffy said warmly drying her tears

Buffy hugged Willow tightly. It definitely made Willow feel better knowing that she had her friend back. Oz tentatively looked through the bags Buffy brought with her.

“Hey, ah, Buffy. Why did you bring weapons?” Oz asked carefully

“I told her to be ready?” Xander replied, “I forgot that Ready, for Buffy, means bringing things to stab stuff. I got to go to the bathroom guy’s I’ll be right back.”

Xander walked off confidently. It was plainly obvious to him that Buffy knew who he really was. He entered the male bathroom and quickly checked himself out in the mirror. Although he had been human for five years he still wasn’t used to seeing that unfamiliar face staring back at him. Xander sighed playfully to himself and turned his attention to the sidewall. He lifted up his palm and a small ball of energy formed in his hand. When it reached an adequate size he threw it at the wall. It exploded forming a perfectly circular portal. On the other side of the portal was the front door to Giles’ apartment. Xander stepped through. Forming another energy ball he threw it at the front door, which exploded sending Angel flying backwards.

From the broken remains of the doorway Xander entered the room. He smiled at the group.

“I hear you’ve been looking for me.” Incarnate said playfully

“Xander!” Cordelia exclaimed with mock excitement, “I am so glad that you’re here. Listen I’ve been thing bout our whole relationship and I totally made a mistake breaking up with you.”

Cordelia took a deep breath and beamed at Xander.

“I think I’m ready to make a full commitment. Xander Harris will you marry me?”

“Cordelia, what are you doing?” Angel asked curiously

“Isn’t it obvious?” Cordelia replied, “It was the trauma me breaking up with him that made him evil.”

“Actually I think it had more to do with the Demon who killed him and took over his form that make him evil Cordy.” Doyle replied

“Oh don’t listen to him. He’s British you know how crazy they all are over there.”

Giles glared at Cordelia.

“I must protest that assumption!” he declared.

“Yeah,” Doyle replied, “for starters I’m Irish. If you’re going to lump with the euro trash label at least put me in a swanker country.”

“Ah cordy,” Xander replied, “You know, I have thought a lot about our relationship and do you know what I think?”

Xander punches Cordelia hard in the stomach, which sends her flying back into the rest of the group.

“Am I to assume that you are Incarnate?” Drogyn asked

“You assume right shiny pants.” Xander replied, “and I’m going to assume that this think tank is about little old me. How quaint”

“How long have you known?” Angel asked

“Ever since you talked to that detective in L.A.” Xander replied

Angel and the rest of the group looked uneasily at Xander / Incarnate.

“Alright let me explain . . . “

~ Central filing, Los Angeles police department – 4 days ago ~

Kate Lockley entered the cramp room. She walked up to the officer sitting at the desk.

“Hi. I need to get the victim reports on an unsolved animal attack from ninety-four.”

“Sure give me a moment,” the officer replied as he wandered down the stacks of filing cabinets that lined the wall of the office. He returned moments later with a stack of six Victim reports and handed them to the detective.

“Here you go detective.” He stated happily.

“Thanks” she replied absent mindedly as she wandered out of the room. After the door was closed the officer moved quickly to the phone.

“Hello?” Xander replied on the other end of the line.

“It’s me.” the officer replied in a quiet tone, “You were right. I think the vampire is beginning to ask questions. What do you want me to do?”

“Stay put,” Xander replied, “There’s only one place he is going. I’ll make sure he doesn’t find out anything else.”

“Right. Good luck Incarnate.” The officer replied hanging up the phone

~ The Bronze night club, Sunnydale – 3 days ago ~

Xander watched Buffy from the bar. She definitely hadn’t been herself and, from the conversation she was having with Willow, she must have found out something she shouldn’t have. He would have to speed things up if his plan was going to be a success. Xander turned back to the bar. One of the female staff walked up and stood in front of him.

“Okay, I can get you what you ordered but it’ll take a couple of minutes.”

Xander shrugged and smiled at the girl

“Take you’re time. I’m in no rush.”

The girl smiled in return. She threw a dishtowel over her shoulder and left. She walked into the kitchen and out to the back door. As she opened it a Fautur Demon dropped down in front of her. Usually this would startle anybody who hasn’t witnessed a demon before but she had been working with Incarnate for some time so the unusual had become completely familiar. From her pocket she handed the demon a note.

“Go to this address and collect The Morntu codex from the watcher. Incarnate doesn’t want any of them to get more information understand.”

The Fautur Demon nodded. The air rippled behind him as he formed a portal. The Fautur Demon jumped in and the girl returned to where Xander was sitting.

“It’s coming.” The girl said sweetly

“Good.” Xander replied

~ University of California Sunnydale, Sunnydale – Two days ago ~

Xander walked up to the slayer. He slowly played with his coffee cup.

“Right now I’m practicing the age old art of skulking. Willow asked me to meet her here.”

Buffy folded her arms and stared at him.

“Why?” she asked

“I think it might have something to do with one of her best friends not talking to her for some unknown reason. Will’s been . . .”

Xander looked around the area for somewhere to put his coffee cup. He flagged down a passing cleaner pushing his trolley.

“Sorry, could you deal with this? Thanks” Xander asked him handing him his coffee cup

The cleaner nodded and took the cup. As he returned to his journey the cleaner pulled out the note that was concealed inside. Reading the instructions through clearly he nodded to himself.

That night the cleaner waited by the side of the highway with three mean looking demons. They waited for their target to arrive and they weren’t disappointed. Drogyn walked briskly down the highway unaware of the trap that had been set.

He had only just crossed the Sunnydale border when the three demons sprung. Drogyn didn’t have any time to react. The demons started to claw at him ferociously. Just before he was going to lose his life Drogyn heard the sound of a car engine. Moments later one of the demons were knocked off its feet by a black car.

Angel jumped out and assisted in the demon fight.

“. . . So you can see that I’ve had my eye on all of you ever since you’re Irish man had that vision.” Xander concluded.

The group contemplated what Incarnate had just explained to them.

“We are so over Xander Harris!” Cordelia

“Cordy.” Angel insisted as Cordelia calmed down, “that was a really pretty story Incarnate. I can’t help but notice that lack of any sign of you killing us.”

“Very good Angel. I see why Buffy liked you. It was that big brain of yours. Being Xander I have had precious little entertainment so I’m going to give you some time to try and stop me.”

“Why?” Angel asked seriously

“Why not? I got nothing to do until my powers become fully charged so I figure ‘Hey why not let the gang try and foil my evil scheme’. And don’t worry I’m going to give Buffy the same option you have. See you later”

Xander turned and left. He re-entered the portal and arrived back at the bronze. Sealing the portal behind him he washed and dried his hands. Checking himself out one last time in the mirror he left the bathroom.

Xander returned to the dance floor.

“Okay let’s get this party started.” He said cheerfully
