Buffy, Spike, Giles, and Jenny sat around the dinning room table for breakfast.
“You’re not going to all leave me alone like last time, are you?” Buffy asked.
“No, of course not,” Jenny said, “Right, Rupert?”
When she looked over at Giles for his approval she found him staring at Spike’s hair as though he thought it was radioactive and might explode at any moment. She only shook her head.
“Yes,” Giles said, looking at her.
“Never mind.”
“Alright, actually Jenny and I have good news,” Giles said to Buffy and Spike.
“We’re getting married,” Jenny said, a smile spreading across her face.
“Oh my gosh,” Buffy said as she hugged Jenny.
“It’s about bloody time,” Spike said as he hugged his Uncle.
The phone ring and Giles went over to pick it up as Jenny showed Spike and Buffy her engagement ring and they all talked excitedly about the wedding.
“Yes…thank you. That’s wonderful. She’s going to be okay. Great……Thank you…Goodbye,” Giles said to the person on the other line.
“Well, it seems today is a very good day,” he said.
“Who was that?” Spike asked.
“Buffy, I had your mom moved to a hospital in England that specializes in her condition and it seems she’s just woken up.”
“Oh my god,” Buffy said as tears began form in her eyes. She hugged Giles, “Is she okay?”
“She’s still a little shaky but she’s going to be fine. The doctor said you can see her tomorrow.”
“That’s great love,” Spike said as he hugged her. He was happy for her but the moment was bitter sweet. He knew this would mean Buffy was going to go home once her mother was better. She was going to leave him and the thought made his heart break and he hugged her just a little bit tighter.
“You’re going to come with me right?” Buffy asked. She directed the question at everyone but she was looking directly at Spike, when she asked it.
“Of course, I’d love to meet your mum. I can’t wait.”
“We’ll all go,” Giles said, putting his arm around Jenny.

Buffy woke up the next morning and for the first time in the longest time she was truly happy. Her mom was going to be okay and Buffy couldn’t help but cry in relief. Now, she could really start her life over and this time, everything would be great. She smiled at the thought of being with her mom again, spending time with her and her friends and not having to worry about her drunken father. Buffy cringed at the thought, absently mindedly placing her hand on the scar on her neck, but she pushed the thought away.
All that was behind her, this was going to be a good day. Buffy smiled remembering one last thing that was really good about her life right now, she was falling in love.

Buffy walked towards Spike’s room in the white cotton sundress she had chosen to wear. When she reached his door she knocked. Through the door she could hear the muffled sounds of punk- rock music. “Come in,” he yelled. Buffy opened the door and entered the room, closing the door behind her.
“You look nice, love,” he said as he glanced at her outfit and turned off the cd he had been listening to.
“Thanks, I just came to tell you Giles says he’s ready to go.”
“Alright.”
“Spike,” Buffy said sitting on his bed, “What if she’s not that same? What if she’s not my mom any more? What if I can’t handle it?”
“First of all she’s always gonna be your mom, nothing will change that and secondly anything you can’t handle, I’ll help you handle,” he said as he picked up his jacket.
“Thanks,” she said as she got up and walked over to him, kissing him, “Let’s go.”
Spike gave a smile that showed he was pleasantly surprised and put on his jacket, “Yeah, let’s.”
