Several minutes later they surveyed the carnage around them. Amazingly few of them were hurt. Angel had a long jagged cut from his right shoulder to his left hip that was already healing, Doyle had a slash above his eye, and the Elves were untouched. The only major wound was Moira. She was standing next to Legolas holding her stomach blood running between her fingers.

”Amaelamin, your hurt,” said Legolas his eyes widening in horror. “It’ll heal,” she said as she passed out. Legolas caught her before she hit the ground. Gently he removed her hand and examined her wound. “She’ll be alright,” he said, “It’s not to deep.”

“Let’s get back to the office,” said Angel. Legolas picked Moira up, cradling her against his chest. “Lead the way,” said Haldir.

Moira opened her eyes, her vision blurry. She was in Angel’s bed and sitting next to her was Legolas, who was conversing quietly with Haldir in Elvish who was leaning against the wall. “I amar prestar aen. Han mathon ne nen,” said Legolas.

“Han mathon ne chae. A han mathon hed wilith,” replied Haldir.

She groaned and sat up. “You both know I can understand everything you’re saying right? You may as well speak in Elvish. How has the world changed?”

Haldir answered. “The veil between worlds is thinning. The people of our world are crossing over into this one. Like you did Princess. The thinning veil will end up destroying both these worlds.”

“Then we’ll find a way to fix it,” said Moira gazing at Legolas.

Haldir looked at Legolas who was staring back at Moira. A smile played at his lips. “I’ll leave you two to get reacquainted.” He left pulling the door closed behind him.

“How do you feel Amaelamin?” he asked cupping her cheek with his hand. “Better,” she replied leaning into him feeling the warmth of his hand on her cheek.

He pulled her to him in a fierce embrace. “When you disappeared I thought I’d lost you. I almost let myself fade cause I couldn’t bear the thought of life without you.”

“Why didn’t you?” she asked from against his shoulder.

“The thought that you would want me to live. And that Arwen told me what happened. I knew as long as you were alive, even though you were in another world, I’d find you and bring you back.”

At the mention of her mother Moira pulled away and looked him in the eye. “In the alley you gave me my father’s sword. The only way to get that sword would be to pry it from his cold dead fingers. Tell me the truth Legolas, don’t lie to me to spare my heart. My father, is he…dead?”

Legolas sighed, lowered his gaze to the bed then looked back at her. “Yes Amaelamin, he is. He asked me to give you Narsil before he died.”

Moira swallowed hard, struggling not to cry. Legolas pulled her to him again. As he smoothed her hair he said, “It’s alright Amaelamin. Let it out my love.”

She was still crying when the door opened and Angel, Doyle, and Haldir stepped through. “Moira, what’s wrong?” “I just told her that her father’s dead,” replied Legolas.

“So that means…” Doyle broke off as Moira raised her head from Legolas’s shoulder. “I’m Queen.” She finished his sentence. “Did Haldir fill you in?”

“Yeah,” said Angel, “It’s got to be some sort of demon.”
Moira closed her eyes, a wave of nausea passing over her, she could sense the evil and it was building power.

“Amaelamin, lay back. Rest. You are not well,” said Legolas stroking he cheek.

“No. It’s not a demon Angel,” She looked at Haldir, “It’s Sauroman. I can feel it. His powers aren’t broken. If anything they’re growing.” Another wave of nausea passed over her, almost causing her to retch.

“We must find him,” said Haldir, “We must find him so you can kill him and restore the balance to our worlds.”

“Me? Why me?”

Legolas placed his hand over Moira’s, “Because Amaelamin, he’s the one that murdered Elessar, that murdered you father.”

Moira took a deep breath it was all coming too fast. “I guess we could scry, but I need something of his.” Haldir reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden stone. “Will this work?” he asked. “Yeah,” she replied, “now I need a map and a crystal.” Angel retrieved the items. “Let’s get to work.”
