The mystery man sat tensely on the couch. The group around him eagerly awaited whatever information he was going to give. He looked at them seriously.

“As Angel and the Watcher have just explained my job was to guard these demons. To make sure they were never was released from their prisons. As it turns out not even the center of the earth can contain its power.”

“Okay for those of us who don’t live our life like the History Channel. Could you explain who you are again?” Cordelia asked.

“Forgive me I must not have made myself clear.” The man replied, “My name is Drogyn I am the guardian of the Deeper Well.”

“Ah huh,” Cordelia replied in confusion, “must get a lot of free quarters from that job.”

“It’s not that kind of well Cordy.” Angel replied in a focused tone.

“So it was you, right? You’re our mystery messenger boy?” Buffy asked Drogyn.

“If you are referring to the note then yes I am your . . . ‘mystery messenger boy’.” He replied

“Good, then spill. What’s the deal with Incarnate?”

Drogyn cupped his hands tightly and stared at the ground.

“It happened seven years ago. I was at my station when I felt a . . . disturbance.”

“What kind of disturbance?” Giles asked

“It felt like a rumble. A vibration that’s origin came deep from within the well it’s self.”

“How deep is this well?” Buffy asked

Drogyn looked up at the slayer.

“It runs trough the entire length of the planet. Incarnates tomb was laid to rest directly in the center for protection.”

“If incarnate is so powerful why did his tomb need protection?” Angel asked

“Not his protection. Ours.” Drogyn replied in a serious tone, "I attempted to conjure the protective magicks but it was too late Incarnate was free."

The group looked uncomfortably at each other.

“What exactly is Incarnate?” Buffy asked

Drogyn looked back up to the group. His expression told them more then they wanted to know.

Although the Bronze was silent the entire space had slowly been converted. The even the was about to happen needed precise timing and precision to work. From out of the shadows three people approached. They met in the center of the dance floor and looked at each other intensely.

“Are we ready to do this?” Xander asked

“Everything’s set up on stage. Oz?” Willow replied

“I got my end covered. All we need to do now is make the call.” Oz said blandly

“I’ll do it.” Willow said as she wandered to the phone.

Buffy, Angel and the others were stunned. All they could do is just sit and stare at each other. The news just handed to them was worse then what they feared. Buffy looked up.

“What . . . What are we going to do?” Buffy asked

Giles slammed down the last of his scotch and poured himself another.

“There is not much we can do I’m afraid. If Incarnate is indeed who Drogyn claims him to be then the best we can do is run.” Giles replied

“Not an option,” Angel replied, “There must me some way to stop him.”

“There still might be one chance,” Drogyn comments, “To regenerate back to his full power Incarnate will take on the guise of the first being he has slain. We need to locate this being.”

Angel walks over to Giles desk. He comes back and hands the victim report to Drogyn who studies it carefully.

“This is our being.” Angel says seriously

“Most useful indeed. If you know Incarnates guise I assume it was joined by five other slayings.”

“There were six victims in total.”

“Then by now his energies will almost be at their peek. We have to move quickly if we are to stop Incarnate.”

Giles’ phone rings. Giles places his glass down on the coffee table and answers it.

“Hello? . . . Yes she’s here hanging on.”

Giles hands the phone to Buffy.

“It’s for you. It’s willow.”

Buffy takes the phone. By now Buffy was getting extremely nervous.

“Willow what’s going? . . . Okay I’ll be there.”

She hands the phone back to Giles and sits down nervously.

“Something’s happening at The Bronze. Willow says she needs me there.” Buffy said nervously

Angel looks at the fear in the slayers eyes and sits down next to her.

“You’re not planning on going are you?”

Buffy looked at him

“I don’t think I have much of a choice. After what we just found out I think it better not to let Incarnate know were on to it.”

“Buffy. I think Incarnate already knows. If you go out now you might not come back.”

Buffy smiled at Angel.

“Then I go down fighting. Giles lock and load.”

Buffy arrived outside the Bronze about an hour and a half later her movement was slowed down by the two bags of weapons she was carrying. Watching her back very carefully she tested the front entrance to see if it was locked.

The door opened without Resistance. From one of the bags she pulled out a sword and gripped it tightly. She slowly walked in checking every corner of the nightclub.

“Willow?” she called out. The sound echoing around the empty club

As she reached the center of the dance floor one of the spotlights shone directly into her eyes. She squinted to see who it was with the light.

Although obscured by the spot Buffy could still make out a figure standing calmly in the center of the stage smiling down on her.

“Been waiting for you.” The figure said.

“What’s going on?” Buffy asked

“I think you already know,” the figure replies smugly “Do you really think I would have let this slide? NOW!”

Suddenly the house lights light up. Buffy begins to tremble. She covers her mouth in shock and drops to the ground.

This was definitely the last thing she expected.
