A baby lost.
She is sitting in a dark room in the pollice station, an interrogation room. She is scared of the pollice officer standing in front of her. He has brown hair. And chocolate brown eyes. He's very tall. And he looks strong too. He places his hands on the table and looks her in the eye.
"Look, Krista, I don't wanna hurt you. I only want to know what it was those doctors did in that place." He says to her, and she looks up.
"Brainwashing." Krista says.
He takes a chair and sit's down at the other end of the table.
"Why ? And how ?"
She looks him in the eye.
"They were taking orders from someone who wanted to know what efect it would give if you kidnaped a normal human being and made him or her crazy."
He leans back on his chair.
"What efect did it have ?"
Krista takes a hold of his hand, touches it and hits it.
"Aah, son of a bitch!" he yelles
"Some stay crazy forever, some become violent over the years. You never know."
He takes a handkerchief out of his pocket, makes it wet and places it on his hand.
"So, who did they take the orders from ?"
She comes closer, he hides his hand, she stares him in the eye.
"From something you could never understand..."
And before he could react on that, Dawn comes bursting into the room.
"Krista! We have a... (lowers her voice) situation."
The officer stands up.
"I'm inspector Connor. Who are you ?"
Dawn comes closer and takes Krista's hand and puls her closer to her.
"I'm Dawn. I'm a friend. And we have to go."
He waves his hands.
"Hey, I'm not ready yet!"
But they're already gone.
He sit's back down, takes a piece of paper and says to himself : "Something ?" and he writes it down.

"Why did you go to the pollice station ?" Dawn asks Krista as they are walking to the hotel.
Krista looks down. "I wanted to know if they were really arrested."
"They ?" Dawn asks.
"T.. the doctors. But then this man asked me what I was doing and when I said it was for that, he said he wanted to quistion me. And I was afraid that if I didn't listen he would hurt me."
Dawn stands still, takes a hold of Krista's arm and looks at her.
"Look, as long as you stay with me, nothing will happen to you, and besides, he's a pollice officer, he can't hurt you. Alright ?"
Krista nods and they start walking again.

Before Krista and Dawn walk back into the hotel, Krista stops, turnes around and looks at Dawn.
"What was the situation ?"
Dawn doesn't get it and nods her head asking what Krista is talking about.
"Well, you know... You came bursting in and said we had a situation."
Now Dawn knows what she means.
"Ooh, that."
"Yeah.. what ???" Krista asks again.
"We have a baby lost." Dawn says and she walks into the hotel and Krista follows.

"I'm back!" Dawn calls out when she enters the hotelroom.
Cindy comes running out of one of the rooms.
"Shhhhhhhhhhhh" she whispers.
"The baby's asleep." she says.
She takes a look at Krista and says : "So, where did you find her ?"
Dawn takes Cindy by the arm and they step away from Krista, she looks sad when Dawn does that.
"I found her at the pollice station. Some officer... eum... inspector Connor was questioning her."
Cindy pulls up her shoulders. "About what ?"
"The institution, she went there to see if those doctors were really in prison, I guess somebody found out she was in that place too."
"Somebody like inspector Connor ?" Cindy asks.
"Exactly somebody that is him."
Dawn was thinking about what she just said, and she looked at Krista and then back at Cindy.
"We have to keep an eye on her."
Cindy nods and they go back to Krista, Krista doesn't say a word, she looks down.
"So, what's this I hear about a baby lost ?" Krista asks.
"Oh, yeah, Joy and I found a baby in the park, you wanna see him ?"
"Sure... But why didn't you just gave him back to his parents, or to the pollice ?"
Krista asks when they're in the room with the baby. Joy doesn't look up, she's to busy with the baby.
Dawn takes Krista's arm.
"You know what I said about the pollice, we don't trust them, if they'd find out what we do, if they'd find out about vampires and demons, then they would freak, and they would blame us, and take us to jail. You don't want that, do you ?"
"No, but this baby has nothing to do with vampires and stuff, so handing him over to the pollice would also be a good thing, right ?"
Joy picks up the bab and carries him to Krista and lifts up his T-shirt.
"He has a tattoo on his arm (she points at the black symbol of a knife and a snake and a demon), a symbol, it's the symbol of the demon Rackna, a very powerfull ancient demon. He gets his power from killing pure human beings, pure being babies or children. And he can read minds.
Sometimes he also wants the evil humans, to make them one of his kind, a demon like him, but less powerfull. We think that either the baby is evil, or the baby is a sacrifice." Joy says.
"I'm hoping he's a sacrifice." Dawn ads.
"I don't understand, why are you hoping that this demon wants to kill him ?" Krista asks, she doesn't understand it. She doesn't understand much since she left the institution. awn and the rest are thinking that it may be to late for her, that she was in there to long.
Cindy looks at Dawn.
"Should I take this one ?" she asks Dawn, and Dawn nods.
"Well, Krista, if the demon Rackna wants to kill the baby, that's a good thing, cause that will mean that the baby isn't evil, but if the demon wants to make him one of his own, that's a bad thing, cause that would mean the baby is evil, or at least has evil in him, and we couldn't kill it, we'd just have to let it get stronger over the years, and that, we really don't want."
Krista looks at the bay and nods, she understands.

Dawn leaves, Krista follows her, she has orders to stay with Dawn at all times.
Krista turns around. "What's his name ?"
Cindy and Joy look at each other, they have no idea what his name is.
"We don't know." Joy says. "Do you want to give him a name ?" Cindy ads.
Krista turns around again and is now facing Dawn, Dawn doesn't say anything, she turns around too and keeps walking. Krista stands still for a few seconds.
"Joshua." she says and walks away.
Cindy and Joy have no idea who that might have been in Krista's life.

Dawn and Krista are walking down the street, while Dawn tries to make a conversation.
"Who's Joshua ?" Dawn asks.
"He was my husband." Krista answers. She doesn't stop walking.
"Was ?" Dawn asks.
"Yeah, he's dead, he was my friend in the institution, the one I killed."
Dawn stops walking.
"You said you were kidnapped when you were alone..."
"I was, he tried to find me, they found him first, and two months ago I killed him."
"No! You didn't! They did! You have to understand that!" Dawn says.
Krista turns around, she has tears in her eyes.
"Look! I don't need you telling me it wasn't my fault! You weren't there! You don't know what happened!" She yelles.
"Yes, I do know. You told me when we were in the institution. He died when you tried to make him normal again."
"I lied." Krista says, and she runs of, Dawn tries to stop her, but it's no use. She's gone.
Before Dawn can run after her, she is under atack.
She's facing two vamps, and one ugly faced demon, he has a sorts of scars on his face, and open cuts, and his face is green and he has blue blood. So, it's something Dawn has never seen before.
She pulls a stake out of her jacket.
"Let's see if my training with Joy was any use." she says to herself.
She hits one vampire, kicks another, one vamp kicks her back, she falls down, the demon just stands there. The vampires grab her, they trie to bite her, she struggles, stamps one on his foot, and manages to stake another before running away. They were strong, real strong. She keeps on running, and from time to time she looks behind to see if they are following her, but they're not. She's far enough.

In the pollice station there is a call that inspector Connor is really interested in.
"Hello, New York pollice department, how can I help you ?" a woman on the phone says.
"Yes, good evening, I would like to speak to an officer please." A man on the other side of the phone says.
"Alright, please hold on..." The woman puts the phone down and stands up and yelles "I've got a mister on the phone who wants to speak to a cop! Anyone interested ?!"
Someone sands up, it's inspector Connor. He raises his hand and walks towards her and picks up the phone.
"This is inspector Connor speaking, how can I help you ?"
"Eum, I saw something weird about an hour ago, and I didn't want to say it to the miss on the phone." the man says.
"Okay, that's fine, can you tell me what you saw ?"
"I saw this guy with a really really strange face, with all sorts of scars and open cuts, and two other guys with weird faces, bumpy faces, and they were atacking a girl."
"Is the girl hurt ?"
"No, she ascaped, but she like killed one of those guys, she staked him r something and he turned to dust, it was so strange. I just thought someone should know about this. Cause it's kinda freaking me out."
"You did the right thing calling here, sir. I'll euh, investigate the guy eu, turning to dust. But first I have to have some more info. Could you describe the girl to me ?" Connor's face looks like he doesn't really belive the guy turning to dust part.
"No, it was to dark, I'm sorry, I did see that she had brown hair, and oh, when she ran away I heard the scar face guy say 'I'll get you miss Dawn Summers, yes I'll do.' And that was it, then they left."
"Thx for calling, I have enough information." Inspector Connor says.
He puts the phone down, looks up and says "Miss Dawn Summers ??? Well I'l be dammed."
And he walks away.

A couple of hours later Joy, Cindy and Krista are still playing with the baby, who Krista named Joshua when Dawn comes home.
"Guys, we need to talk." Dawn yelles while she closes the door.
"Yes, we do." somebody says. It's not Krista, Joy or Cindy who says it, it's a man. Dawn recognises the voice, but she can't figure out who it is. She walks into the living room and he is standing there and the others look down. Except Joy, she stands up.
"What is he doing here ?" Dawn asks suprised. She doesn't trust him.
"He just stood here, he says he wants to talk to you about an atack." Joy says quietly so he wouldn't here her.
Dawn walks closer to him, she looks a bit angry they let him in the house.
"So, inspector Connor, what brings you to my lovely hotelroom ?" she asks with an attitude.
"I think you already know." he says. "I got an anonymous call. Somebody saw three guys atacking you, and then... euhm... can we discuse this in private ?" He says and he touches her arm.
Dawn takes a step back, freeing herself from his hands. "Here is fine, I've got nothing to hide from them."
"Okay then." inspector Connor says. "So, you were seen getting atacked by three guys, one had this really deformed face with a lott of scars, and same goes for the other two, their faces were really deformed too, but they didn't have scars and cuts on their faces."
Dawn doesn't look worried that he knows all of this. "So what ? What's it got to do with me ?"
"Your name was mentioned as the girl they atacked. Their words were, you probably didn't here this running away and all, but they said, and I quote 'I'll get you miss Dawn Summers, yes I'll do.' so, I'm guessing it weren't your drinking mates ?"
"Get out! Now." Dawn can't stand it anymore, she is tired and doesn't want a pollice officer investigating her.
"Sure, I can come back whenever I want, just one more thing..." He says while he walks to the door.
Dawn turnes around. "What ?!"
He is holding the door, looks into Dawn eyes and says "How did you make that guy turn to dust ?"
Dawn is standing there with her mouth full teeth, her eyes wide open, she doesn't know what to say.
"Yeah, I figured you wouldn't tell me, but remember this... You killed a man, or... something, and that is murder, or self-defense, but I will find out what it was you killed, and when I do, you're gonna have a lot of explaining to do."
Dawn is getting more angry by the minute. She looks away when the baby is laughing, he looks at the baby too.
"BTW, cute baby, who's is it ?"
"Not that it's anything to you, but it's my cousin."
"He's cute... for a cousin..." He says and walks out of the room and closes the door behind him.

As soon as officer Connor is gone, Dawn turns to the others, she looks pissed of.
"Who the hell invited him here ?!" she asks, no one answers, she looks at Krista.
"What ?! It wasn't me!"
Now she knows it was no one of her friends, she feels better and calmer and sits down besides the baby.
"What was he talking about ?" Cindy asks. "What attack ? Who turned to dust, and what scared face guy ?" she asks.
"Wow, don't forget to breathe between the quistions." Dawn says.
She stands up, goes to the table and picks up a book.
"I'm guessing this was the guy who attacked me." she says while she points at a picture of a demon full of scars and open cuts in his face.
"Rackna ?" Krista asks.
"That's the one, and the vamps who tried to bite me, probably were his slaves."
"Why were they after you ?" Krista asks her.
"Don't know; probably because of Joshua, I guess he found out we have him. I'm lucky that I'm even alive, those vamps were strong, if I hadn't staked one, I would probably be dead by now."
"Maybe we should just give him Joshua, then he wouldn't come after us anymore." Krista says, they all turn their heads to her.
"No!" Joy yells. "How can you even think that's an option ?!"
Dawn grabs Krista by the arm and pulls her aside.
"Look! I have no idea what the story is between that Joshua guy you say you killed, but that doesn't mean you can give up on everyone with the name Joshua."
Dawn walks back to the others, Krista stands still.
"Are you coming ?" Dawn asks.
Then Krista goes back to sit with the others again.

Afters hours and hours of searching in books, Joy finally finds something.
"I found something!" she yells. They all come and stand behind Joy.
"I found out who Joshua really is." she says to the others.
Dawn looks suprised, she looks at Joshua, and then looks back at the book and at Joy.
"He's not human. Joshua, he's not human." she says.
"What do you mean ?" Cindy asks.
Joy starts reading aloud from the book. "Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, it was predicted that in a time of great need, an angel would be send to earth, a baby." They are all listening very attentive. "This baby would grow up to be a normal human being." she stops for a second.
"So he is human." Dawn says to herself. Joy continues. "When he reaches his 18th birthday he will receive his powers and bring forth the twilight, the end of all demons." she stops reading.
"That's it, that's all it says."
"But how do we know that the angel is Joshua ?" Cindy asks.
"Oh, I forgot" She flips a few pages of the book. "Here." she points at a picture of a baby with a tattoo, the same tattoo that Joshua has on his arm. "It says that he will have this tattoo as long as Rackna lives. It will disappear when he kills Rackna, when he kills his first demon. That's why Rackna wants him dead, he nows about the prophecy. He knows that when Joshua kills Rackna, Joshua will recieve a blessing that will keep him safe till his 18th birthday."
"How is Joshua gonna kill Rackna ?" Cindy asks.
"I have an idea, wait here till I get back." Dawn says and she walks out of the room.

Three hours later Dawn is back.
And she's not alone.She has demon with her, he has a normal face, but you can see he is a demon when you look at his hands, he has all these spikes stikking out of them.
He doesn't look evil, he looks friendly.
"What's this ?" Krista, who is a little scared, asks.
"This is Jeremy, he's a guardian, he's a demon, but a good one, his kind protects the great saviors of the world.."
"How did you find him ?" Joy asks.
"I am well known everywhere." the guardian says.
"I read about him in a book." Dawn says.
"Oh." Joy says.
"But that doesn't help us, it's Joshua who has to kill Rackna, not Jeremy."
"Oh, but he can kill Rackna, Jeremy can." Dawn says. "He just has to perform this ritual and make connect with the Joshua, make him his guardian for eternity. And when he does that, he can kill Rackna, and then he will raise Joshua."
She can tell that Cindy and Joy don't want to lose Joshua, but they don't say anything cause they know it's for the best.

Dawn and Jeremy prepare everything for the ritual in the bedroom.
Jeremy picks up the baby and goes into the bedroom, the others follow, but...
"I have to do this alone." he says.

"Is this going to take any longer ?" Joy asks three hours after the ritual is started.
Then the door of the bedroom opens. "It is done." Jeremy says.
"Good, come on, we've got us a demon to kill." Dawn says and she and Jeremy walk out of the hotel room.
They're already gone, but Krista still yells... "Hey! What do we do ?!"
But she doesn't get an answer.
"We spend as much time as we still have with Joshua, cause in a few hours he'll be gone, Jeremy will take him with him, and then we'll never see him again. So, this is our time to say our goodbyes." Cindy says.

"Is it far ?" Dawn asks Jeremy while they're walking down the street.
"It's just around the block." he answers.

They arrive at an old warehouse in downtown New York.
Jeremy gives a crossbow to Dawn. "Take this, keep the vampires way while I kill Rackna." he says.

They quietly enter the warehouse, there are about five vampires, and the demon.
They look like they're praying, so it's a good time to start the attack.
Dawn raises her crossbow, says a little prayer of her own, and shoot a vamp in the back, in the heart, she did it, he turns to dust.
Jeremy rushes to Rackna, and during that time he kills two other vampires.
"Dawn hits a vampire in the face with his crossbow, he falls down. She gets a stake out of her coat and stakes him in a hurry. Now it's just her and the last vampire face to face.
Mean while, Rackna is holding Jeremy by the throat, Jeremy hits Rackna, and his face begins to bleed cause of all the spikes in Jeremy's hand.
But he doesn't care, he hits Joshua and hits him again and again till he falls down.
In the meantime Dawn is fighting the last vampire left, she gives him a blow with her fist, and another one, and another, till her hand starts to bleed and she stakes him. She's a bit tired and she sits down. he sees Jeremy struggling with Rackna, but she knows she can't help. This is his fight, and his fight alone.
Just as Rackna is about to put a sword through Jeremy's chest, Jeremy kicks him in his balls, if he has any, and he grabs the sword from Rackna's hands and put's it through his head. Rackna falls down. He's dead. They did it. Jeremy stands up, he's about to fall down, but Dawn grabs him. And with Jeremy under her arm, they walk out of the warehouse.

"Here you go." Cindy says and she gives Jeremy a glass of water.
"Thanks."He says, he drinks a sip and then stands up, Dawn wants to help him but he says it's okay. "I should probably be going, for the safety of Joshua." he says.
They look at Joshua, and at his arm, he no longer has a tattoo.
"Yeah, you should." Dawn says and she picks up Joshua and gives him to Jeremy. He greets them and walks out of the hotel room.
When he is out of sight they all sit down.
"I'm gonna miss him." Cindy says. "Me too, I'll miss him too." Joy says and she gives her a hug.
"We'll all miss him." Dawn says.
Krista stands up. "Dawn, could I talk to you ? I'm ready to tell you something now."
Dawn smiles. "Sure, come on, we can talk in th..." Before she can finish her sentence her phone rings. She makes a sign at Krista telling her to wait a sec.
"Hello ?" Dawn says.
"What's wrong ? When ? Now ?" Dawn says, she looks dismayed.
She hangs up.
"What's wrong ? Who was that ?" Krista asks.
"It was Buffy, something happened, she wouldn't tell me over the phone, I have to leave for L.A. right away."
"We'll come with you." Joy, who stands up, says.
"No, you can't, I have to go alone." Dawn says and she rushes out of the hotel.

Mean while in the police office, inspector Connor has a lot of books on his desk. He's reading all of them. The title of one of the books is 'How to kill a vampire...'.
