Goodbye
"Yeah, Buffy. What are we gonna do now?" Dawn asks.
As the others are talking Buffy stares straight ahead at the hole that used to be Sunnydale, and she smiles.

Buffy, Dawn and the others get back on the bus and they drive to the nearest town.
Once there, they go the the hospital to take care of the wounded.
After a few hours Dawn wants to talk to Buffy. She seems to be really serious.

Dawn pulls Buffy aside. She doesn't say anything for a few minutes, but she knows that if she wants to do this, she has to say something to Buffy.
"Buffy, I eum.. I need to tell you something." Dawn says.
"What it is ? Are you hurt ?" is Buffy's first reaction.
"No, of course I'm not hurt, if I were, I would have told you already. No, it's something else."
Dawn lookes around and she sees a couple of chairs.
She grabs Buffy's arm.
"Let's go sit down first." and she indicates the chairs.
Buffy follows Dawn, she's not sure what Dawn is about to ask, and it scares her.

They're sitting on the chairs now, and Dawn is looking around. The others are chatting, they're not even noticing that Dawn is constantly looking around and that Buffy is looking very worried.
"Dawn, what is is ? What are you trying to tell me ?" Buffy askes while she is getting a little impatient and nervous at the same time.
Dawn lookes at Buffy, then lookes at the others one last time, then she lookes back at Buffy.
She's ready to say it.
"I want to leave." there's a twinkle in her eyes as she says it.
"Leave ? You mean leave this town ? You want us to go to another town ?" Buffy asks a bit confused.
"No, I mean I want to leave this town, alone." now there's not only a twinkle in her eyes, but a spark too. She's hoping that Buffy will let her go.
Buffy feared that this was going to be Dawn's quistion, and Buffy knows what she has to say.
"Dawn, you're barely 17..." Dawn interrupts.
"I know, but I've seen more then any other kid my age, I know what's out there, and I can manage it. I'm not your baby sister anymore."
Dawn lookes at Buffy, and she's a bit scared of the look in Buffy's eyes. She lookes like she's mad or something, Dawn has never seen Buffy look like that.
Buffy touches Dawn's hand and smiles.
"You didn't let me finish, as I was saying, you're barely 17, but you have the mind and heart of an adult."
Dawn has no idea what Buffy's saying, is she going to let her go ?
"I love you Dawn, and I don't wanna let you go, but I'm not gonna stop you, if this is what you have to do, then do it, if not, then don't do it. No matter what, just know that I'm always with you, wherever you go, I'll always be here." Buffy points at Dawn's heart and head.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." and Dawn gives her sister a hug.

Dawn is about to tell the others when Willow faints.
"Willow!" Buffy and Xander both yell.
The doctors come running to them, and they check for a heartbeat.
Dawn steps back.
Willow is still breathing, they don't know what's happening to her. Mean while the doctors are getting her to a room.
Dawn thinks she has an idea about what happened.

The gang is standing around Dawn, she's explaining to them what she tinks happened.
"I think it's the spell Willow did. She had to bring every slayer in every potentail in the world out. That takes a lott of energie. She's just weak after doing a spell like that. She should be fine in a couple of days, I think."
They all look at her.
"How do you know this ?" Kennedy askes.
"I read a lott." Dawn smiles and steps aside.
Buffy walks towards Dawn.
"You are going to stay untill Willow is better ?"
"Of course i'll stay, she's my friend too."

A couple of days later, Willow is released from the hospital.
Dawn was right, she was just a bit weak from the spell she did.
Now she's all better again, and Dawn calls the gang together to say goodbye.

They're in the lobby of the hotel they're staying in.
Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Kennedy and all the others are standing around Dawn.
Dawn looks around.
"A lott of you don't know me that well, you see, I'm actualy only three and a half years old."
The girls who don't know her that well are confused.
"Dawn..." Buffy says.
"It's okay, I can do this, remember ?" Buffy nods.
"How is that possible ?" one of the girls asks.
"I used to be a key, untill a few years ago, when the monks made me human. Gave me memories. They made me Buffy's sister, so that Buffy would protect me, and she did, when the battle was near, and I was suposed to die, Buffy saved me, died for me."
Everyone is touched by what she's saying.
"I'll never forgett that day, and I'll never forgett the day I had my sister back. But I was on a bad path, I was a total klepto. I eum was looking for somebody to be there for me, I never even noticed that I had my sister who loved me and who still loves me. But, I changed my behaviour, thanks to Buffy, and the gang. Then was the last year, I didn't know how to fit in the picture, there were you, the potentials, and I was on the background again. I'm not special, I'm just normal, and that's it. I felt like I had no personality of my own. But now, after that battle, I feel like myself again and I don't wanna lose that feeling."
No one knows what to say after that speech, they are all so touched.
Then Dawn starts speaking again.
"So, that's why I decided to leave."
She looks at Buffy, who has some tears in her eyes.
"Leave ? But, you're only seventheen. You, you can't leave ! Can you ?"
Willow argued, she still sees Dawn as a kid sister.
"Will. it's okay, she can leave, she has to do this, so we have to be brave and lett her go."
Xander steps towards Dawn and gives her a hug.
"BTW, you're wrong about one thing, you are special, you're more than that, you're a real angel." he says and now Dawn has tears in her eyes.

So one by one they step forward and give her a hug and say their goodbyes.
Buffy is standing besides Giles, who has already said his goodbyes.
After Dawn is done hugging everyone, she steps towards Buffy.
They look each other in the eye for a few minutes. And then Dawn gives her the biggest hug ever.
"I love you Buffy."
"I love you too, more than you'll ever know. Be safe, okay ? Call me if you need anything."
Buffy gives her a phone.
Dawn lets go, and looks at Buffy. She's crying, she's happy. They're both crying.
"Buffy, when did you... ?" she says so suprised.
"Yesterday, I bought one for me too, so if anything is wrong, just call me, my number in on your phone."
Dawn gives her a hug again.
"I'll be seeing you." Dawn says.
"Me too, I'll be seeing you too, i'll lett you know when we go to another town. Okay ?"
"Okay, I'll keep you posted about where I am too."
They lett go.
"Now I really have to leave before I don't wanna leave anymore." Dawn says.

A taxi is waiting outside for her.
She gets in, she waves one more time, and the taxi drives of, leaving Buffy and her friends there.
"You're doing the right thing by letting her go." Giles says to Buffy while he touches her shoulder.
"I hope so, I hope so."
They go back inside.

A few hours later the taxi arrives in a new town.
Dawn goes into a hotel and the taxi drives away.
She goes to check in.
"Would you like a single room or a room for two persons ?" a clerk asks.
"Single please."
Dawn goes upstairs to her room, looks around, smiles and closes the door.
She's happy now.
