Angel carried Buffy to the old warehouse where Spike was hiding with Drusilla. He could feel her pulse starting to slip. He was terrified. Without words he looked at Zersha, who nodded and pointed to an area in the shadows near the warehouse wall. A comfortable looking sofa appeared there. Angel gently set his love on the sofa before getting ready to go in.
He was immediately stopped by about five vampires that made it their business to block his way. Zersha simply waved her hand and they crumbled to dust. Angel gave her a faint smile in thanks and she nodded her recognition.
Angel entered the building and instantly spotted Spike. Angel snarled and went into full vamp mode. He raced in and slammed Spike against the wall. In a low growl he hissed’ “I want you to stop torturing my Buffy right now!” Spike struggled to get away but with no avail. He waved for his ‘men’ to come and help them. A few darted forward but were instantly dusted by Angel, who held a stake at ready. The next bunch was more hesitant and they had good reason; Angel fit them for ashtrays.
Spike howled under Angel’s unmerciful grip. “What is wrong with you people! Get him!” A new bunch of vamps sprang forward but theses too were soon nothing but piles of dust on the floor.
“I think you’d better stop hurting my Buffy right now, Spike. I’ll easily kill all your men and find out where the control is.”
“I’d like to see you try!” He waved for more vampires to attack. Angel spun around, prepared to kill some more vamps. He was surprised when he saw stars infiltrate his vision. While he was caught off guard Spike had hit him from behind. By now there were only three vamps left, but they all attacked at once, rendering Angel practically helpless against their beatings. He managed to catch one of the vampires by surprise to dust it but the other two held strong.
The first one appeared to have been a gorgeous young woman with dark features and long, sweeping hair. The second was a towering giant of an oaf. He looked to have the IQ of rotting mayonnaise. But it wasn’t his intelligence tat Angel was worried about, oh no, not that at all. Angel warily eyed his remaining opponents, looking for an unexpected attack from the woman, and a quick, stupid attack from the muscle-brain that was towering over Angel, and Angel wasn’t easily towered over. He braced himself and flew at the numbskull, then at the last second turned and drove a stake into the woman beside him. She gasped in surprise and disbelief a moment before exploding into dust. Spike yelped in horror as he watched his prized minion become nothing more than a wisp in the wind.
Angel took a little too long to congratulate himself though. He moaned in pain as the enormous vampire took him by surprise. * Stupid. * He thought to himself. * Stupid stupid stupid. That shouldn’t have happened. * He began his more careful counter attack, not underestimating him this time.

The boss cowered in the shadows. He didn’t know what to do. He knew there was something seriously wrong with that Spike guy that he was working for. But he also knew that Spike was paying him a lot of money to keep quiet and do his job. But still, he’d never read in his job description that he was supposed to help kill people, especially young, teenage girls. He still didn’t know how she was still alive, it was a miracle. He looked over to here the fight was taking place between Spike’s fledgling and the newcomer who defended the innocent girl that he himself was trying to kill. The boss made a decision then. He picked up the odd device and raised his finger over it, preparing to jab the tiny button in the corner. With a last glance in the direction of the new comer, he slammed his finger down onto the remote.

Angel really HAD underestimated the giant creep. He quickly found himself on the end of a loosing battle. The creep backhanded Angel so sharply that he was forced to his knees. A very familiar boot filled his vision as it jammed itself firmly into his attacker’s face. The creep howled in pain and grabbed at it’s crushed nose. That spit second was all it took for the Slayer to finish the job with a sharp poke with her favorite stake; Mr. Pointy was back in business.
Angel barely realized that Spike had fled with Drusilla, howling in the unfairness of it all. “Buffy?” Angel whispered, as though not quite sure it was really her that had come to his rescue. His love grinned.
“Yup.” Came her perky reply. “Don’t ask me how, but all of a sudden I fell 100 percent!”
A man cleared his throat as he stepped out of the shadows. “I believe I had something to do with that.” Angel snarled, ready to attack. But the weary reply form the boss wasn’t what he had expected. “It’s all right. I deserve death for all the pain I’ve caused you. But please, have mercy. I was only doing what I was told to.”
Buffy was quick to snap back. “If you were told to jump off the roof would you do that too?”
The man winced but replied. “Probably.” Buffy’s head napped up in surprise but she let him continue. “I really am so sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you. I want you to know that I hold the both of you in the highest regards possible.” He stopped a moment and almost smiled before saying. “You know, it’s ironic that they call me ‘the boss’ when really I’m just everyone’s slave.” He shook his head sadly. “You’ll never hear from me again, that I assure you. And so I bid you both farewell and I hope that one day you find that monster and kill him for everything he’s done.”
Buffy and Angel were too shocked to do anything but stare after him as he left. They looked at each other. “Weird.” They shook their heads simultaneously.

Buffy and Angel danced to a slow song at the Bronze. That was all they really could dance to since Angel still refused to fast dance.
“You know you’ll break down one of these days and actually DANCE with me.” Angel sighed miserably. “Probably.” He admitted. “But that doesn’t mean I’m about to cave in now.” They sank happily into one another’s arms. Buffy stopped short. “Hey...whatever DID happen to that Zersha chick?”
Angel blinked. “I have no idea. I wonder if we’ll ever see her again?” His sentence ended with a questioning lift. Buffy smiled as Angel dipped her sexily. “Only time will tell, my love. Only time will tell. Fortunately, thanks to you, I have that time left. ”
Angel pulled Buffy in for a kiss. “Never leave me.” He pleaded. Buffy whispered soothingly into his ear. “Never. Whatever obstacles we’ll face, undoubtedly there will be many, whatever happens, we’ll work through it. We’ll be together forever.” Buffy’s words were an oath sealing them both together. “Forever.”
“Oh, and Angel?”
“Hmm?”
“Why don’t we stay at my place tonight? I believe you gave me a present while I was in the hospital that is just BEGGING to be used.”
Angel grinned.
The End.
