The gang was skating, yes all of them, at the local rink.
"I take it you've never skated before," Dawn laughed as Connor almost fell over.
"Grew up in L.A. remember?"
"Ever heard of indoor rinks?"
"Guys don't go there unless it involes a hockey game and I'm a spectator."
"I'm guessing that goes for Angel too."
"How'd you know?"
"Well if he wasn't holding Buffy's hand he'd be on his ass right now," she said pointing as Angel stumbled.
"You can take the boy out of L.A. but you can't take L.A. out of the boy." Buffy muttered.
"Huh??
"Nothing honey," she smiled innocently.
"How come, wow."
"Careful."
"How come Spike and Weeees and all the other guys are so good at this, but me Connor and Gunn look like idiots?"
"Because this is your first time on a rink. Don't know about Doyle, but everyone else grew up here."
"He ppplays hockey."
"That explains why he can hit so hard!"
"You should see him when he mad. Dah!"
"You didn't even fall."
"No it's....oh god what's she doing here? Hid me!"
"Who's she?"
"Ugh! Nina, my ex. I broke up with her before I left. She's to clingy."
"You wanna get some hot chcolate?"
"Please."
Buffy gave a wave to the rest of the group and they all went over to grab a table.
"How'd you do that?"
"You think this is the first time one of us has had to hid from an ex? Safety in numbers."
Everyone sat down and made sure Angel was as hidden as possible.
Unfortunatly it wasn't enough.
"Oh crap," Doyle shock out, "Nina alert!"
"Where?" Angel turned around, "Oh god I made eye contact."
Nina waved and started to walk over.
"We have been spotted and we are being pulled in by her tractor beam!" said Xander.
"Believe me mate," Spike told him, "you don't know the half of it."
"Hi Angel." said Nina in a I'm-so-perky-it's-like-a-disease way.
"Nina," Angel said through gritted teeth, "what are you doing here?"
"Well I heard you were all coming up here and I thought we could, I don't know, talk?"
"No."
"No! What's no?"
"No I'm not talking to you." He grabbed Buffy's hand and they went back on the rink, but not before he nearly fell into a snow bank.
"That would have been a so much convincing exit without the falling!"
Buffy just laughed then kissed him.
"Convincing enough?"
"Yeah..uh..yeah."
