FROM THE DIARY OF DAWN SUMMERS:
June 15, 2003
Well, the past few days have been seriously hectic around here. Faith is staying at a motel close to the club (where she got a job STRIPPING!!!). The reason for this is because my sister is paranoid! No, seriously, they talked it over and thought that while ‘we’ were working on this case it would be best if we all pretended not to know each other. I guess it’s a good idea since we don’t know if this Jennifer chick is friend or foe. To be on the extra-safe side, Faith also had Angel and his associates supply her with a fake ID. I think Robin rented a room not far from there too. Not really sure where though.
As of the time I’m writing this, there has been no other sightings of Drusilla, the crazy bitch vamp. I’m beginning to wonder if she’s moved on, or if it even was here. You never know. Gunn never really saw her up close. He could’ve been mistaken. But I guess we’re just assuming it was her and leaving it at that.
Kennedy came back from visiting her parents yesterday. Her and Willow have been up in their room most of the day. Wonder if I wanna know what they’re doing? I guess she’s starting to grow on me. But I still liked Tara better.
Robing and Gunn are still going to the club every night and ogling the ladies (or, as they like to put it ‘working’). Men!!!
Still no luck in the searching for Cordelia department. From what I hear, Angel hasn’t had any luck either. It’s weird, but when he came over earlier, I got this strange feeling that maybe him and Cordy may have had something going on. I don’t know, maybe it was just my imagination. I wonder what Buffy would say if there was? I’m still not sure if she’s over him or not.

“Whacha doin’?” Kennedy asked.
“Reading,” Willow told her. “This book if full fo spells I never even dreamed existed.”
“Any luck on finding a spell to help track down what’s-her-face?”
“Cordelia,” Willow supplied. “There’s a few I think I’m gonna try tomorrow, but I don’t know if they’ll work.” She closed the book she’d been reading and grabbed another of the night stand. “Angel said he’s got everyone and everything at Wolfram and Hart trying to track her down. I don’t see what I’m supposed to be able to do that they can’t.”
“I’m sure you’ll figure something out, sweetie,” Kennedy said, rolling over and snuggling under the covers. “Wake me up if you find anything.”
“‘K,” Willow said as she scanned the table of contents. Protection spells, invisibility potions, locator spells, vampire resurrection spells, potions for... She stopped, wondering if she had read that right.
A quick glance over at Kennedy confirmed that her girlfriend was once again sound asleep.
Willow quickly turned to the first page of the vampire resurrection spells. Figures, she thought. The first three required the bones of the vampire. The fourth was similar to the spell she had used to bring back Buffy, but she needed most, if not all of his ashes which she doubted she could find.
Then she turned to the last one and smiled. She read it over four times to make sure she had read it right

“Don’t worry,” Jennifer said. “You’ll get the hang of it.”
“I hope so,” Faith said, stretching out a little.
“Maybe we should take a break.”
“Please,” Faith said, taking a seat on the side of the stage.
“I’m gonna grab me something to drink, you want anything?”
“Sure.”
Jennifer returned a few seconds later and handed faith a glass.
“What is it?” Faith asked.
“Jack Daniels and Coke, without the Coke,” Jennifer replied with a smile.
“Ok,” Faith said slowly.
“I was drunk most of my first week here,” Jennifer admitted. “I wouldn’t have made it otherwise.”
“Then, cheers!” Faith downed the drink
“You want another?” Jennifer asked.
“Maybe,” Faith said. “Or two.”

Buffy and Xander arrived at the club just before ten that night.
“Boy am I glad to see you guys,” Jennifer said when she spotted them. “He’s here.”
“Where?” Buffy asked.
“Over by the stage, green shirt. He just got her a few minutes ago.”
“Has he said anything to you?”
Jennifer shook her head.
“When’s your next break?”
“Eleven-thirty.”
“Ok, well. He’s looking over here. We should probably sit down,” Xander said.
“Ok,” Jennifer said. “I’ll bring you a couple of Cokes.”
They sat at the same booth Buffy had sat at her first night there.
Jennifer brought them their drinks and gave Xander a big smile.
Xander smiled back.
“Did I miss something?” Buffy asked when Jennifer was out of earshot.
“Like what?” Xander asked.
“Did something happen the other night when you walked her home?”
“Not that I’m aware of,” Xander said.
“Ok,” Buffy said. “If you don’t share then you don’t have to.”
“There’s nothing to share,” Xander insisted. “Not really.”
“I saw the way she was looking at you,” Buffy pointed out. “Is there sparkage?”
“Maybe,” Xander said. “Shouldn’t you call someone and tell them that that guy is here?”
“Yes, but this conversation is far from over,” Buffy warned as she pulled out her cell phone.
“Angel Investigations, we help the hopeless,” Dawn answered.
“Hey, it’s me.”
“Buffy. What’s up?”
“That guy we’re looking for is here. I need you to call Gunn on his cell phone in about five minutes and tell him.”
“Ok,” Dawn said. “What does he look like?”
***
“Who were those people you were talking to?”
“What?” Jennifer asked. “Oh. You startled me.”
“Sorry,” Faith said.
“They’re these detectives I hied,” Jennifer explained as she sat down in front of the vanity to get ready to go on stage.
“Detective agency?” Faith asked.
“Yeah, I dated this guy, Scott, for a few weeks and he was really nice. Then, one day, he like totally spazzed out.”
“Really?” Faith asked.
Jennifer nodded. “Everything was going great, then I didn’t see him for a couple days. When he came back in he seemed like a different person.”
“Different how?”
“Kind of angry, I guess. He started drinking heavily and he actually hit me once. That’s when I called it off.”
“Does he know where you live?”
Jennifer shook her head. “I just moved last week. I got a restraining order against him, but it didn’t do any good. He violates it every chance he gets.”
“So, what made you think to hire a detective agency?”
“My cousin Kate recommended them. She used to be a cop in here in the city. She said she’d dealt with them before and their methods were a little unconventional. Which she thought I needed.”
***
“He’s a vampire,” Buffy said.
“What?” Xander asked. “How can you tell?”
“Well, I’ve dated a couple, slayed hundreds and I AM THE SLAYER,” Buffy said.
“Oh,” Xander said. “Right. And I am an idiot.”
Buffy ignored his comment. “In fact, I think that a number of the ‘people’ in here are vampires too.”
“Do you think we’ve been set up?” Xander asked.
“I don’t know,” Buffy admitted.

After Faith got off stage, she headed for the dressing room to change back into her street clothes.
“Hey,” Jennifer said when she entered the dressing room a minute later. “We’re on a fifteen minute break. Wanna go out back and smoke?”
“We can’t smoke inside?” Faith asked.
“Carlos thinks its not good for business for us to smoke in front of the customers. We used to be able to smoke in here, but that chick that went of before you, Tami, complained about her clothes smelling like smoke.”
“Ok,” Faith said. “Lets go out back.”
They’d been smoking in the alley for a few minutes when the back door to the club opened and Scott walked out.
“Jennifer,” He said.
“Leave me alone,” Jennifer told him.
He grabbed her, revealing his game face.
Jennifer screamed just as the back door opened again and Buffy and Xander walked out into the alley.
“Is this a private party, or can anybody join?” Buffy asked.
Scott snarled at her. “Slayer,” he hissed.
“In the flesh,” Buffy said proudly.
Scott released Jennifer and lunged at Buffy.
Jennifer fainted when Buffy stakes Scott and he turned to dust.
“I don’t think she’s in on it,” Xander said.
Faith bent down next Jennifer. “Jennifer?”
Jennifer moaned. “What the hell was that?” she asked, sitting up.
“A vampire,” Buffy told her.
“But... they’re not real,” Jennifer insisted.
“We need to get you out of here,” Buffy said, helping her to her feet.
“Can I do anything?” Faith asked.
“Tell her boss she’s going home,” Buffy said. “And you should probably go inside. It’s not safe out here.”
Faith rolled her eyes, but played along for Jennifer’s benefit. “Alright. Is she gonna be ok?”
“She’ll be fine,” Xander said. “We’ve had a lot of experience dealing with these kinds os situations before Miss...”
“April,” Faith said. “April Morgan.”
