Oz and Willow were on a double date with Cordlia and Xander. The event-Indian TV in Buffy's room due to the extreme lack of funds except for Oz and Cordelia. Which meant they were stuck getting the food (Cordelia complained a lot louder than Oz though).
"So how does the four armed blue guy fit in again?", Xander asked ignorantly. "That's Lord Vishnu, master of sustanation. Since the king of the demons stood still until the vines grew on him, he gets a wish. He asked for that...", Willow ran out of words. "...shiny fire chariot thing.", Oz finished for her. "So how does the four armed blue guy fit in again?", Cordelia asked again.
Then a commercial came on, with a green haired man in construction gear. "Are you tired of labor unions and faulty equipment slowing your company down?", he asked. The camera played out to show a construction site of a sky scraper. "Notice something?", he continued. "That's right, there's not a machine on site over a ton. So how do we get the job done?"
One construction worker walked up to a stack of iron I-beams strapped together with steel cable. He started to glow, then the stack. Both levitated up to the top of the skyscraper uncer construction. A new camera veiw caught them landing on the high steal, where a young girl snapped the steel cable like a rubber band and carried one of the I beams on her shoulder. She held it in position while a stereotypical looking construction worker pointed at the ends, and let a bright beam emerging from his hand weld it in place.
Back on the ground, the first man continued. "We can do the job quicker, and for 2/3 the price of the competition. Homo Superior Construction-we do a superior job". The commercial ended with him giving a thumbs up to the camera and a voice over, "Homo Superior Construction is liscensed to hire mutants."
"Damn muties, that's what's wrecking the economy.", Cordelia spat. "I wouldn't go so far as to say that...", Buffy began. Willow turned to her, "Actually, for once I agree with Cordelia. A certain amount of individuals need a certain amount of goods and services, and in a capatilist economy the more even the ability to produce with the desrire to consume the better the economy. Mutant businesses like that unfairly create an imbalance that increase unemployment for normal people like us."
Oz followed. "And they don't even do that good a job. Take a look at the Avengers. Once that really fast guy..." "Quicksilver.", Xander supplied. "Yeah, Quicksilver joined, the entire thing went down hill. Mutants ruin everything.", Oz finished.
"Okay, you've got me.", Buffy conceded. "Anybody want some more food?", she asked. Xander's hand shot up, but went back down under the power of Cordelia's icy stare. "Bring me something squishy.", Willow told her.

The next day at school was typical. Oz wore his Mutant Camp promotion T-shirt, commemorating a time when the government had decided to round up and contain all mutants. The trouble started when Lamar 'Flash Eyes' Gordon wore a T-shirt reading, "Flat Scan refers to brain waves".
Lamar Gordon was Sunnydale High's only known mutant. He couldn't cover the fact that his hair began growing in green. Furthermore, his ability to light up a room with his "flashlight eyes", as they were called, manifested itself on its own and scared the hell out of the PTA. Everyone said he was dangerous to have in school, but no one wanted to go on the record to segregate him. It is California after all.
"Flash Eyes! You go to your locker and change your shirt this instant.", Ms. Heddlespy demanded. "Why do I have to change my shirt when Oz doesn't get a word over celebrating putting people like me in concentration camps?", Lamar asked back. "That's it, you're going to the Principal's office.", the teacher declared. She wrote out a note while mumbling about mutie teen rebels. "And take this with you."
Lamar walked up to her desk, took the note and read it in front of the class. "Mr. Snyder, Flash Eyes was disrupting my class room and disobedient. Please see that he receives the proper amount of detention." Ms. Heddlespy glared at him. "You know, your kids might be Homo Superior.", Lamar said while walking out the class room.
The bell rang. Xander walked up the hall, and passed Lamar. "Hey Lamar.", he said with a tap on the shoulder. "Oh. Hey.", Lamar answered back. He held up the note. "I got another one. Want to light a cherry bomb and spread the detention around?", Lamar joked. Xander laughed, then spotted Buffy and Oz comming out the history class. "Look, I'll catch you later.", Xander told him. "Yeah.", Lamar agreed.
"I can't believe you actually touched him.", Oz told Xander. The group walked to the Library. "Wha...?", Xander asked confusedly. "I mean, touching a mutant. That's brave.", Oz reiterated. "Oh, Lamar's not dangerous. He just has those cool eyes. No biggie."
"Actually, it is a very great...biggie.", Giles told him, while attempting to steady a mutant awareness poster (The reader should note:Mutant awareness means for homo sapiens [i.e. normal people] to be aware of the dangers of homo superior [i.e. mutants]). "Although Flash Eyes' X-gene hasn't manifested itself in any particularly dangerous way, the natural evil behind it will. The boy still is in his prime manifestation age." Buffy put her hand to her head, "Here comes the 'Mutants=Evil' speech."
"Buffy, you of all people are well aware of what demons can do to mankind. Just because the particular demonic force that creates these mutants is detectable scientifically makes it no less a manifestation of the evil we fight.", Giles told her. "So you've found a book that tells about mutants, and the demon that causes it? Because if you have, I'm all for a good slaying.", she told him. Giles sighed and pushed his glasses up. "Well, not as of yet. But I think I will shortly."
Giles premonition wasn't all that wrong. He wouldn't find a book telling how to stop the existence of Homo Superior. But he would meet a mutant that many have called a demon.
