Where is he? Buffy asked herself as she paced nervously in front of the school and glanced down at her watch again, he was only ten minutes late she told herself as she started pacing again. Stop pacing she berated herself and stood still, then on second thought she sat down on the edge of the bench. She couldn’t even stand near his car or even look if it was still there… that would be so mortifying, she thought biting her lip, if he had forgotten about their conversation this morning or found someone else.

Don’t think that way, she told herself firmly as she remembered the reason why she had sworn off men, she hated opening herself up to them… leaving herself open for possible hurt, which so often had followed leaving her worse off than before. She wasn’t sure that Angel was worth the hurt… even if he was incredibly hot with an accent to die for! She thought with a grin.

Angel stood at the edge of the building watching the blonde as she walked around in front of the building and then sat down, fidgeting with her skirt. She was so beautiful, he couldn’t imagine why she was alone, guys should be flocking around her or at least trying to break down the barrier. He could tell that there was an iciness about her that warned outsiders off, but he could also see a frailty and softness about her that called him. The iciness was just a protection mechanism to keep her safe from the hurt that had claimed her who knows how many times… he shook himself from his musing and berated himself for leaving her alone for so long. She had probably begun to wonder where he was and if he was going to stand her up, not the first impression he wanted. So he picked up his backpack and lightly jogged around the corner to where she was sitting.

“Hey Buffy,” Angel said with a winning grin, as he stopped beside her.

“Oh hey,” Buffy said standing up. “I thought that you had run off on me,” she said with forced lightness.

“Yeah, sorry I’m so late,” he said with a long sigh. “I swear the coach has decided I’m the newest prodigy, he wouldn’t let me leave!”

“I hear he can be like that sometimes.” Buffy laughed lightly, a smile twisting her lips. “I’m sure that you hated every minute of it.”

“I did, it was horrible,” he said solemnly, his eyes gleaming. “I eventually had to tell him that if he didn’t let me leave he was going to have to apologise to a very pretty lady, as to why I was so late for our tour this afternoon.”

“And what did he say to that?” Buffy asked, suppressing a smile.

“Son, why didn’t you say so before?” Angel mimicking the coaches voice. “A man must never keep a lady waiting,” and he shooed me out of the gym,” Angel said with a roll of his eyes.

“Well, he’s right,” she laughed. “You shouldn’t keep a lady waiting.”

“I shouldn’t?” he said in mock surprise. Buffy’s eyes narrowed,

“You don’t think he’s right?” the poison in her voice was sugarcoated. “Because I don’t see any other ladies standing around waiting for someone that was… fifteen minutes late,” she said as she glanced at her watch.

“Please don’t get upset with me,” he said grinning. He noticed that she was not amused and added pleadingly, “I was only kidding.”

“Humph,” she said crossing her arms and turning away from him.

“Come on Buffy,” he implored. “Please!” She let him grovel for a few more minutes and then turned to him with a raised eyebrow,

“You’re really, really sorry?”

“Yep definitely sorry,” he said solemnly. “Never do it again, scouts honour.”

“I thought you said you weren’t really a scout?” she asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Oh yeah,” Angel said thoughtfully. “I really should think of a different phrase then, huh?” he said scratching his head thoughtfully.

“You probably should,” she said smiling slightly. “I still think you should grovel some more though.”

“Oh wondrous beauty,” he said dropping on his knees. “Please spare me the misery of being denied your beauteous presence!”

“Oh all right,” Buffy said muffling her laughter. “I suppose that I can forgive you…”

“Oh thank you, oh gracious one!” Angel said from where he was still kneeling.

‘Okay, that’s enough grovelling,” Buffy said helping him up. “So where’s your car?”

“Right over here my lady,” he said gallantly walking to a black, sleek looking car. She should have known it was his, she thought to herself as he opened the door for her. "So on with the tour?" Angel asked breaking into her thoughts as he started the engine.

"Right,' she said with a smile. "On with the tour, i suppose i don't have to tell you this is the school?" she asked sweetly as they drove off.

“Oh hi William,” Cordelia said brightly as she saw the blonde approaching her.

“Bloody hell woman,” he said with a sigh. “How many times do I have to ask you not to call me William!”

“But Will…” she started and was cut off by a glare. “…Spike. William is a nice name!”

“Well I hate it,” he said with a frown. “Spike is much better.”

“If you say so,” Cordelia said with a pout. “So… what did you want to do?” she asked, changing the subject.

“I thought we would have a look around Sunnydale,” he said with a grin. “Then have an ice cream or a coffee, your choice, followed by meeting some friends at The Bronze?”

“Ooh, good plan,” Cordelia said with a smile. “The Bronze is cool, do you mind if I change quickly before we go to The Bronze though?”

“No that should be fine,” Spike said with a grin.

“Cool,” Cordelia said grinning as they walked to the parking lot. “Oh… I forgot.”

“What is it pet?” Spike said looking up to see the brunette chewing on her lip in indecision.

“What about my car?” she said softly, pointing in the direction of the blue corvette.

“What about it luv?” he said taking out a smoke and lighting it.

“Well, I can’t really leave it here,” she said slightly wrinkling her nose at the cigarette. “For a small town we have a reasonably high crime rate.” Spike pondered it for a minute and with a shrug said,

“Well then, we will just have to drop it at your house first,” he said with a grin.

“Okay,” Cordelia said with a grin. “You’ll be okay following me?”

“Sure,” he said and they both got into their separate cars…

"Okay, well thats the end of the tour,” Buffy said with a grin as they came to a stop in front of her house. "I've shown you our only set of traffic lights, the mall, the shops, the good part of town and even some of the bad side of town. As you can tell we don't have a whole lot of town."

"I enjoyed it," Angel said with a smile. "It's just a shame it only took just over an hour."

"That was the slow tour,' she said with a grin. "If I'd wanted to cut it short i could have done it in 20 minutes."

'Well I'm glad to know that i wasnt such a bother," he said with a charming grin."So... are you doing anything tonight?"

"I'm not sure," she said biting her lip. 'Why?"

"Well i was hoping to go to the Bronze after the tour..." he said softly. "But it didn't last as long as i thought it would and it's a little early"

'Just a little," she sid pushing her blonde hair behind her ear.

"Uh, well i was wondering if you would like to go with me tonight," he said looking into her eyes. She looked away a little shyly,

"Well my friends and I were going there tonight anyway," she said looking at a spot on his shoulder most of the time, she risked it and looked at his face and she could see he was slightly disappointed.

"And what kind of a tour guide would i be if i didnt take you to The Bronze? It's supposed to be in the tour," she added hoping that she wasnt going to regret this, his beaming smile was reward enough.

"Great!" he said. "So i'll pick you up at 8?"

"Sure," she said with a smile and went inside. She just silently hoped that she wasnt going to regret this.
