Buffy sighed as she sat down and put her head down on the desk, nothing had gone right that morning. First she’d woken up with a splitting headache and her hair was like a bird’s nest, and it had taken a whole twenty minutes to fix into something reasonably respectable. Then she found that her top had a stain on it so she had to take it to the dry cleaners, and her car’s battery was flat. Lastly, her mum had already left, so she had to catch a cab. It was a horrible morning.

“Hi,” said a male voice and Buffy had to force to keep her groan at bay. She was not in the mood to be nice this morning. She reluctantly raised her head and looked up,

“Hi,” she answered with forced brightness which turned true when she realised it was one of the new guys. The dark haired one…what was his name again? Angel… she was pretty sure that one was Angel, but she couldn’t remember. “I’m Buffy.”

“Angel,” he said with a smile that caused a shiver down to her toes, even in her aggravated state.

“Are you sure that’s your name?” She asked him, frowning mock suspiciously at him.

“Cross my heart hope to die,” he said seriously.

“Mm…okay I guess I’ll believe you,” she said getting into the feel of things. “But I think it’s strange what names are given nowadays… Angel, Spike…” she added with a shake of her head.

“What? And Buffy isn’t a strange name?” he asked with a laugh. Buffy pursed her lips and glared at him. He finally added with a shrug, “Well… my real name is Liam but my middle name is Angelus and I prefer Angel.”

“Yeah, my real name’s Elizabeth,” Buffy said with a grimace.

“What?” he asked with a grin, “Elizabeth’s a pretty name.”

“I prefer Buffy, it’s more unique. Do you know how many Elizabeth’s are at this school? Hundreds,” she said gloomily with a sigh. He raised an eyebrow, “Well maybe not hundreds but at least twenty. Anyway enough about my name, how are you enjoying our little town, Sunnydale?”

“It’s very beautiful, I wish I had someone that could show me around more,” he said suggestively.

“Mm… well I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone to show you around,” she said drolly adding silently, that the whole female population would be quite happy to oblige. Actually they were probably lining up for the privilege.

“Well?” he asked with a grin.

“Well what?” she asked, raising my eyebrow at him.

“Are you able to show me around?” he said with a laugh leaning against her desk and looking down at her.

“Well…” Buffy said thoughtfully, and added with a shrug, “Sure I’m free. When’s a good time for you?” After all she had told Willow and Cordelia that she would keep and eye out for dating possibilities, and she could always invite the others along.

“Uh…how about this afternoon at three-thirty?” He said with a grin, “If your not busy.”

“Nope this afternoon’s fine,” she said with a smile. “Meet you in front of the school?”

“Great!” he said smiling, “I’m looking forward to it.”

“Ah hem, Mr Boreanaz. If you could get back to your seat so we can start the lesson, it would greatly be appreciated,” Mr Kelso said sternly, suppressing a smile as he turned to the front to start the History lesson.

“Hey Buffy!” Willow called as Buffy walked past the cafeteria. She waved back and walked over to the table.

“Hey Willow,” Buffy said with a grin as she sat down.

“So?” Willow asked, looking up expectantly at her friend as she picked at the spaghetti on her plate.

“So what?” Buffy asked looking up from her food. “What are you going on about Willow?” she asked, baffled at what her friend was going on about.

“Uh!” Willow said throwing her hands up in the air. “I’m talking about the guys Buffy! You remember guys don’t you?”

“Oh them,” Buffy said blandly.

“Oh them,” Willow mimicked, then glowered at her friend. “You knew exactly what I was talking about all the time!”

“Who me? Would I do something like that?” she asked innocently. “I’m a complete Angel,” she said with a teasing grin. Willow rolled her eyes,

“You?” Willow said with a chuckle. “That’s a laugh!”

“Are you insinuating that I am not perfect?” Buffy asked in mock dismay as she covered her ears. “I will not let you poison my mind like this!”

“Why do you do this to me Buffy?” Willow said when she couldn’t suppress the laughter anymore. “It’s so cruel!” she said, clutching at her sides.

“You do it to yourself,” Buffy said primly as she started eating her pasta again. “I already told you I’m an Angel,” she said putting emphasis on Angel, to see if her friend noticed this time.

“Yeah, yeah,” Willow said rolling her eyes, when her gaze snapped down to look at her friend. “Wait, did you just say Angel?”

“Yes I did, why?” Buffy said straight-faced, as Willow let out a yell and threw her arms around her friend.

“You’re going to see Angel?” she asked hopefully. Buffy looked at her gleeful friend and answered,

“As a matter of fact I am.” And with a wry grin she said, “But anyone would think that you were the one going out with him, the way you’re going on!” Willow waved the objections away and got to the point,

“I want all the details!” she demanded. “Spill!”

“There’s not much to tell,” Buffy said between mouthfuls. “I was having a horrible morning, my top was dirty and my hair a mess! And did I tell you my car battery was flat?”

“Buffy!” her friend shrieked.

“Okay, okay,” she said with a grin. “Anyway he came over to me and started talking to me and we talked about the unusual names people have. Then I asked how he was enjoying Sunnydale and he said that he was enjoying it but he didn’t have anyone to show him around and asked if I would show him around and I agreed.”

“That’s it?” Willow asked slightly disappointed.

“What do you mean is that it?” Buffy asked, planting her hands on her hips. “I’m seeing him, that’s what you wanted wasn’t it?”

“I suppose…” Willow said with a slight frown. “It could have been romantic or something though,” she continued with a grin as Cordelia came over to the table, put down her tray and plopped down into the seat.

“I’m just glad that it’s this afternoon, it means I wont have to get another taxi!” Buffy said with a sigh of relief. “I hate taxi’s.”

“Guess what!” Cordelia almost shrieked interrupting them.

“What?” Willow asked, wincing slightly at the shrill tone of Cordelia’s voice. “You won a million dollars?”

“No silly,” Cordelia said with a roll of her eyes. “But it’s something almost as good.” She said beaming.

“What is it then?” Buffy invited. “Spill it already!”

“William asked me to show him around town!” she said with a sigh. “He’s so gorgeous…”

“William?” Buffy asked with a raised eyebrow. “Who’s William?”

“Oh, William is Spike’s real name,” Cordelia said with a wave of her hand. “Though he does prefer Spike, its more unique I suppose.”

“Yeah?” Willow said drolly. “Buffy’s showing Angel around town.’

“Cool!” Cordelia said, coming down a little from her high and showing some self-control. “Maybe we should go together? Or meet up somewhere?” she asked seriously.

“I don’t know what we’re doing, but it sounds like a good idea,” Buffy said with a grin, if it got too intense she could cool it down. “I’ll message you when I get a chance and let you know.”

“Well before we get any further into this conversation,” Willow said sweetly. “I would like to know if we are still on for the Bronze tonight?”

“Well I suppose it depends on how well my date with William goes,” Cordelia purred.

“Ugh! Don’t even go there Cordelia,” Willow said screwing up her nose. “Just too much information.”

“It’s not like I would even tell you!” Cordelia said folding her arms.

“Okay, okay,” Buffy said thoroughly exasperated. “Can we just talk about whether or not we are going to the Bronze?”

“Fine.” Cordelia said sulkily. “I will be going.”

“Good it’s settled,” Buffy said brightly. “We’re meeting at the Bronze at seven! And I will let you guys know if I want to meet earlier with Angel.”

“Hey guys,” Angel said as he sat down at the table.

“Hey!” Xander said looking up from his lunch. “So how’d it go?”

“It went fine,” Angel said with a grin. “She’s showing me around town this afternoon.”

“Wow, that was quick,” Sam said appreciatively. “I thought she would at least brush you off once or twice.”

“What can I say,” Angel smirked. “I’m irresistible.”

“I don’t know,” Spike said insolently. “You don’t seem so irresistible to me.”

“Well I’m glad,” Angel said with a grimace. “Otherwise I would be getting worried.” Xander laughed.

“Well I wouldn’t think that you’ve got her yet,” Xander continued seriously. “I’d wait until you ask her out properly, before I’d celebrate too much.”

“Stop being such a stick in the mud Xander!” Angel said with a grin. “You could at least try and pretend to be happy for me!”

“Now why would I want to do that?” Xander asked drolly. Spike rolled his eyes,

“As interesting as this conversation is, doesn’t anyone want to know my news?”

“It depends,” Sam said, his eyes twinkling. “Is it interesting?”

“I don’t know, it depends on your own interpretation I suppose,” he said with a grin. “But if anyone wants to know, Cordelia is showing me around this afternoon.”

“Lucky thing you,” Adam said with a grin. Just arriving in time to hear the last bit of the conversation and plopping down in the seat next to Spike. “She’s a hottie that one.”

“Well then you should know that Buffy is showing Angel around,” Xander said cryptically.

“No way!” Adam said slack jawed and almost falling off the seat. “She is almost impossible to reach nowadays.”

“Yeah all the newies get all the fun,” Sam said with a yawn. “This sun doesn’t help at all, it just makes me tired,” he said putting his head on the table.

“So are we meeting up tonight like planned?” Xander asked as he scanned the lawn for hotties.

“What’s that?” Spike asked, tuning back into the conversation. “What are we doing?”

“Going to the Bronze tonight,” Xander said with mock aggravation. “Don’t you guys ever listen to me?”

“Not as a rule, no,” Sam said with a grin. “I’m in for tonight.”

“Me too,” Adam said with a yawn. “There isn’t anything else going on in this town.” Xander turned to look at Angel and Spike,

“What about you two?”

“I suppose I’m in,” Spike said. “Chicks love to dance and Cordelia will probably want to go anyway. And I suppose it is part of the tour,” he added as an after thought.

“Well I guess I’m in too,” Angel said with a sigh. “I will see you guys tonight then,” he said as he got off the chair and walked off, with a wave in their direction.
