SHOPPING IS THE CURE

Buffy woke lazily as she felt the warmth of the sun start creeping in through the window, thinking it must be getting late. She looked at the sleeping form lying next to her, he looked so peaceful and boyish as he slept, and cute too she thought with a smile as she ran a hand through the messy bleached blonde hair and lightly over his alabaster skin.

Then sat up abruptly and ran to the window, closing the blinds and curtains tightly, what the hell was I thinking? She asked herself angrily. I almost let the man I think I could be falling in love with turn to dust…I mean…oh damn, she thought eyes wide in shock as she looked down at the sleeping vampire. Could I really love him? She asked herself as she stared down at him, her mind racing a thousand miles an hour while she tried to decipher her feelings.

What about Angel, did she still love him too? The thought came rushing into her mind, her legs collapsed out from under her and she slid silently onto the carpet. Feeling unsure about her feelings and everything that was going on in her life.

She got up on slightly stable legs and walked over to her wardrobe. While trying to stop her mind and eyes from straying to the sleeping vampire, and instead stay focussed on the upcoming shopping trip and what she was going to buy.

She searched the wardrobe for something to wear and finally after twenty outfits that were either too dressy or not dressy enough, and an hour later she came up with the perfect one. It wasn’t too dressy but wasn’t daggy and it didn’t give the impression she’d spent an hour looking for it. It was a short swirling dress of blues, greens, pinks, purples and splashes of silver, with silver sandals.

Buffy spared a glance at the still sleeping vampire and smiled softly thinking that he could probably sleep through an earthquake or an explosion. Before she could regret it she walked over and leaned down and gave him a soft kiss on the lips, then turned and walked out of the room and into the bathroom without another glance at his sleeping form.

Buffy took a long hot bath, trying not to think about the dark haired or the blonde haired vampire. Though still trying to figure out her feelings and emotions at the same time. She eventually gave up and relaxed, not getting out until the water turned cold, and her body was going pruney and complaining loudly that it was hungry, since it hadn’t eaten since nine the night before and it was now three in the afternoon.

She wondered absentmindedly as she walked down the stairs in her robe, how long it would be before Spike was going to wake up and they could leave to go shopping. She opened the fridge looking for something good to eat; she hoped it wasn’t going to be too long because she was craving for some real shopping time.

The blonde vampire woke up with a smile as he remembered that he was with Buffy and in her bed.

Though the smile quickly turned into a frown when he opened his eyes and saw that he was in fact, alone in Buffy’s bed and with a quick look was the only one in the room as well.

Spike sighed and stretched his arms over his head, thinking he would have much rather have woken up with a warm body in his arms than alone.

Then looked up and saw that the curtains and blinds had been closed and thanked his lucky stars and Buffy that she’d closed them, otherwise he would have been a pile of ash now and that would have been much worse than waking up alone.

He looked at the clock on the bedside table and it read nearly five in the afternoon, which meant they only had a bit over an hour before the sun set and they got to go shopping. He frowned at the ceiling wondering why he’d slept so long and how bad the whole shopping episode was going to be. Finally his face smoothed out and he shrugged, deciding that there was nothing he could do about it, he’d just have to endure it or try get away he thought with a grimace, though he didn’t think that was going to happen since she was the Slayer.

He decided with another grin that he’d better get up and see where his Slayer had run off to, you never know what kind of trouble she could run into.

He stood up and changed his mind deciding that she can look after herself for a while and that he would take a shower. Not that he smelled or anything because he didn’t, vampires don’t sweat that much and what they do sweat doesn’t smell. Which is just as well considering the long periods of time between showers, he thought with a smile as he walked into the bathroom.

He came out fifteen minutes later, with his hair still wet, drying into curls and wearing only his black jeans and walked down the stairs. Only to find his Slayer in the kitchen making omelettes and oblivious to his presence at the door watching her; she was looking absolutely delicious wearing a white towelling robe, her blonde hair curling slightly around her face and her cheeks flushed from the heat of cooking.

“Hey Buffy,” he said deciding to break the silence.

“Hey,” she said softly not looking up from her cooking. “Did you sleep well?” she asked glancing up, then looking quickly down again when she saw his gorgeous bare chest and curling hair.

“Yeah, like a log,” he said with a grin. “I woke up really lonely though,” he said reproachfully.

“Oh you poor thing,” she said with a grin. “Just be glad I woke up in time that you’re not a pile of ash.”

“I’m forever grateful pet,” he said with a leer. “It means I can spend more time annoying you and the rest of Sunnydale.” Buffy rolled her eyes, and didn’t comment. “What?” he said, giving her blue puppy dog eyes. “I can be scary, grrr...” Buffy muffled a giggle and he gave her a hurt look and sat down at the table and crossed his arms.

“So do you want something to eat?” she asked breaking the silence, he looked at her neck and licked his lips provocatively. She frowned at him and he raised an eyebrow in question, she pointed at one of the omelettes and said, “I meant an omelette, you do eat food don’t you?”

“I guess so,” he said as she put a plate in front of him and he started to eat, she puts hers down and walked over to the fridge and opened the door. She poured herself a glass of juice and after rummaging through it for a while she pulled out a bag and poured it into a mug and micro waved it and placed it down in front of him, then sat down to eat her omelette.

Spike sniffed the air and took a sip, and said, “This is human!”

Buffy didn’t look up at the blonde vampire; she just kept eating her omelette then muttered softly, “Yeah, it’s human.” She quickly finished her meal and put her plate in the sink, wanting to get away from the enigmatic vampire and his bare chest. She walked to the door and said over her shoulder, “I’m going to go get dressed, you probably should too,” and with that she left.

Spike watched her leave hurriedly to get dressed and sipped the heated blood and ate the omelette. The meal wasn’t too bad and when he finished it all he put his dishes in the sink, making sure to wash out the mug. Then he started up the stairs wondering if Buffy would be dressed yet, not sure if he wanted her to be or not. But when he arrived she was dressed and sitting at her mirror doing her hair and make-up, she looked beautiful. He shook his head at the thought and walked over, picked up his red shirt and slipped it over his head, and grabbed his coat, then sat down to put his boots on. When he was ready he leaned back against the headrest and watched her with hooded blue eyes, deep in thought.

Buffy stood up and looked out the window, noticing that the last rays of light were falling below the horizon. She looked back at Spike and caught him looking at her and raised an eyebrow, wondering what she’d gotten herself into, which he just shrugged and smiled at the look she gave him. She sighed and said, “So lets go shopping.” Then added with a wicked smile, imagining all the clothes she could make him try on, if not buy, “You need some more clothes come on.”

* * *

“You are the most sufferable man ever!” She said with quiet venom as she slammed the door and came around the other side to pull him out of the car. “No matter what you say you are not getting out of shopping,” she said adamantly grabbing hold of his arm and keeping a tight grip on it as she dragged him away from the car, only spending a few moments to lock the car. If you could call it that and not that anyone would want to steal it in the first place, she thought with a small smile.

“Slayer…” he started in a whining tone.

“No! Geeze Spike you are such a baby!” she said rolling her eyes as she dragged him further into the mall. Then looked around for a shop to take him in and found one, pulling him behind her.

She looked through the racks of T-shirts after giving him a measuring look; she picked out a couple of different greens, an aquamarine, a midnight blue and a sky blue that matched his eyes and put them in his arms, almost daring him to say something. Then went onto the next rack they were beautiful silk shirts and she picked up a pale pink one, and he voiced his dislike,

“Hey I do not wear pink or purple!” he said eyeing the shirts distastefully. Buffy rolled her eyes at his dramatics and asked,

“And what’s so bad about pink and purple?”

“I’m a damn Vampire not a prom queen!” he said with a long, suffering sigh. She raised an eyebrow looking down at her own dress of blues, greens, pinks, and purples with splashes of silver. He added quickly, “But it um… looks lovely on you though, pet.”

She smiled and put it back on the rack, then picked out a red, a black, a white, a dark green, a light blue and a midnight blue and threw them into his arms too. The red and black were a bit of a compromise because she knew he liked the colours and she had to admit the colours looked good on him, they would especially in silk, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t wear a different colour once and a while.

She walked to the pants now and grabbed a couple pairs of white, blue and black jeans and a pair of leather pants, she looked at his full arms and sent him reluctantly to the dressing room to try them all on. While she waited she walked over and looked at some of the women’s clothes and grabbed a few tops, pants and dresses that grabbed her fancy and went to try them on in the dressing room.

Spike didn’t even bother to try on the red and black clothes he knew they would look fine and they had been Buffy’s compromise. Instead he put on the white jeans, the white T-shirt and midnight blue silk shirt over the top, he looked down at himself and frowned.

He hated that he couldn’t see himself, but he didn’t really think the colour would have suited him so he called, “Buffy!”

“What Spike?” came the calm response as she walked out of her cubicle and to his.

“Can you come look at this?” he asked and she came into the cubicle and her eyes almost popped out of her head. The colours suited him and he looked absolutely gorgeous!

“Um…they really suits you,” she said trying not to stare. “Why don’t I leave and you can try on another?”

“Why bother, it’s not like I can see myself!” he said as he stripped off the T-shirt, noticing the way her eyes gazed at his chest and then looked away. He suppressed the knowing smile coming to his lips, and put on the midnight blue top without comment. Buffy stood there looking as he changed T-shirts and then silk shirts in front of her. She made appropriate comments and tried not to faint or do anything stupid, like drool over him.

He could tell which colours looked the best on him from the hungry look that came into the Slayer’s eyes when she looked at him. As well as the way she looked at his bare chest, her heartbeat raced and when she unconsciously licked her lips.

When he finally he put on the light blue t-shirt and silk shirt, he turned his nose up at the colour. He really didn’t think it suited him, and then turned around to find the Slayer staring at him. He couldn’t help but notice that the look reminded him of a lioness looking hungrily at lunch.

“What?” he asked slightly unnerved at the look. She didn’t reply just kept staring at him, thinking how the light blue matched his eyes and how gorgeous he looked. She took a step forward towards him licking her lips and almost pounced on him, taking him by complete surprise. She then kissed him quite thoroughly while running her hands through his hair, then untangled herself from him with a grin and walked out of the cubicle.

He watched the Slayer walk out of the cubicle in shock then looked down at himself.

Grabbing all the clothes she’d liked and on the way to the cashier he grabbed a couple more sky blue shirts, then followed her back to the car about five hundred dollars poorer. Shaking his head he hoped she didn’t plan on taking him shopping that often or he would be poor in no time, even with the millions he’d managed to save over the last two hundred years.

“You know you look pretty yummy in those clothes,” Buffy said with a grin as he approached the car.

“I kinda guessed that,” he said with cocky grin.

“Yeah well you can’t blame a girl for having bad judgement in guys,” she said mockingly.

“Thanks a lot,” he said with a growl.

“You’re quite welcome…pet,” she said grinning. He growled menacingly at her, which just caused her to smile more til he started mumbling something about annoyingly cute Slayers. “Well come on,” she said as she opened the car. “Unless of course you want to let me drive?” She moved as fast as lightning, snatching the keys off her and settling himself into the car, before she even finished the sentence.

“Luv, as much as I'm starting to like you, you are NOT driving MY car!” Buffy walked over to the other side and put his bags into the back, then climbed in, and off they went.

The end.
