The next morning, Buffy headed downstairs to find Angel’s mother making them waffles.

“Good morning, Buffy,” she smiled, stirring the batter.

“Morning,” Buffy yawned.

“Is Angel coming down soon?” his mother asked, pouring the batter into the iron and pressing it closed.

“Yeah, he’s taking a shower. I’m gonna wait till I get home to take one,” Buffy explained.

“All right. Sit down, some of the waffles have been getting cold.” Angel’s mother said. She started piling waffles on a plate and drenched them in syrup.

“Thanks, Mrs. O. You make the best waffles in the world.” Buffy sat down and started eating her waffles, chatting with Angel’s mom, like nothing was any different. Angel wandered downstairs and kissed Buffy before eating his own waffles.

“Well, I gotta get home,” Buffy said, thanking Angel’s mom and walking towards the door. Angel walked with her.

“You want me to drive you?” Angel asked.

“No, I can walk. I love you,” Buffy smiled. Angel bent down and kissed her slowly.

When Buffy got home she went straight to her room. Her parents weren’t up yet and she didn’t want to wake them. She noticed something on her bed and went to pick it up. Her eyes read over the letter and she started to shake. He got in my room, and no one noticed. How long has he been doing this? Why hasn’t anyone seen him? Oh my God. Buffy’s eyes ticked to the window. She dropped the latter and ran to the window, slamming it shut with as much force as she could muster. Then she clicked the lock into place.

“Buffy? Are you okay?” Joyce asked through the door.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m leaving in a few minutes,” Buffy said. She waited until her mother was gone and then quickly changed into jeans and a sweatshirt.

On her way over to Spike’s, Buffy contemplated what she would say. How can I make it clear to him that I don’t love him? I don’t want the police involved, that would be too much. God, I wish I had listened to my friends. I never should have dated him. She arrived at his house and knocked on the door. Spike answered.

“Buffy?” Spike whispered, not believing his eyes.

“Want to explain this, Spike?” Buffy asked angrily, holding up the letter.

“I thought it would pretty much explain itself, Buffy,” Spike muttered.

“No, I mean the part about you sneaking into my room to put it on my bed. I could have you arrested, Spike!” Buffy shouted.

“I know, Buffy. I’m sorry, I just love you so much and you wouldn’t let me see you. I had to find some way to tell you. I can’t go on without at least your friendship,” Spike admitted.

“We’re way past friendship, Spike. I mean it, I never want to see you again. I can’t love you after the things you’ve done. Knowing what I know about you, I can hardly even stand to look at you. So I’m serious this time, LEAVE. ME. ALONE! No more letters, no more calls. Nothing. I want you out of my world, Spike,” Buffy shouted. She was quickly losing her cool. Spike scared her now, and she wanted him as far away as possible.

“Fine. I get it this time.” Buffy turned and walked away while Spike stared after her. He started to cry. After a long while, he stood and shut the door. Then he made his way over to his father’s desk and pulled the pistol from the top drawer. He scribbled a quick note.

I will love you until the end of time, alive or dead.

He lifted the gun to his temple and pulled the trigger.

That afternoon, Buffy was over at Willow’s. Xander and Angel were there as well. They were sitting around Willow’s livingroom playing cards and watching television when the news came on. It was talking about a local teenager who had killed himself and the mysterious suicide note that had been left.

“Oh my God,” Willow whispered. Buffy’s face drained of all color.

“It’s my fault. I went to see him today, because he wrote me a letter. I told him I wanted him out of my world. Oh my God, I never wanted him to die,” Buffy muttered. Angel wrapped her in his arms.

Buffy thought she would be sad, but she wasn’t. She thought that maybe Spike’s death would un bury her love for him. The love she thought she had been denying, but it didn’t. She didn’t even cry. She thought it was so funny, she could cry, ball even, for someone she hardly knew, but she couldn’t shed a tear for her ex boyfriend. She didn’t even go to his funeral. That same night she was laughing and playing with her friends and boyfriend. The love of her life.

She and Angel sat, snuggled, on Willow’s porch swing while Willow and Xander were inside ordering pizza.

“I’m sorry he did that to you,” Angel said, kissing her head.

“I’m not. Why should I be? It was his fault, it’s not like I told him to die,” Buffy shrugged.

“True.”

“Angel, I love you. Forever. Don’t leave me, okay?” Buffy said, looking up at him.

“I’ll never leave you. I will love you until the end of time,” Angel whispered.

A/N: Okay, so there it is. I think that’s a good ending point, don’t you? It really is the end of the story. In real life the rest is boring. Anyway, tell me what you think!
