“How is anyone supposed to get any sleep with them giggling?” Xander asked, annoyed.
The other Xander sighed and sat up in the recliner. “I don’t know,” he admitted.
They heard more giggling from the bedroom.
“I’m just glad there’s only one on my world,” Xander said.
“Me too,” the other Xander admitted. “But don’t tell my Anya I said that.”
“Don’t worry,” Xander said. “You’re secrets safe with me.”
“Since sleeping is out of the question, wanna play Parcheesi?”
“Ok,” Xander said happily, sitting up.

“All my demon friends are against me,” Anya said. “They say Xander domesticated me.”
“What about Halfrek?” The other Anya asked.
“She’s the only one that’s still speaking to me, Bur I can tell she’s disappointed in me.”
“That’s terrible,” the other Anya said sympathetically. “Sometimes I wish I had my powers back,” she admitted.
“Don’t,” Anya said. “I’d give mine up in a second if I could go back to the way it was before Xander left me.” She paused. “I’ve never admitted that to anyone but myself before.”
“Technically,” the other Anya said, “you still haven’t.”
“I like talking to you,” Anya said. “You understand me.”
The other Anya laughed. “Probably because I am you.”
“That could be it,” Anya said.
“I have to go pee,” the other Anya said suddenly.
“I’ll wait here,” Anya said.
After the other Anya had left the bedroom, Anya heard a noise behind her and turned.
“I don’t know how you did it Anyanka,” D’Hoffryn said. “But I told you you couldn’t have your powers back!”
Anya’s eyes widened with fear.
When the other Anya returned a few seconds later, Anya was sitting on the floor laughing.
“What did I miss?”
“D’hoffryn took my powers away,” Anya told her. “And he didn’t kill me!”
“What?” the other Anya asked.
But Anya was too busy laughing to reply.

INTERLUDE 8:
“Hey,” Dawn said. “Why don’t we go to this diner downtown and get some breakfast,” Dawn suggested.
“You don’t want to go to sleep?” Connor asked.
“No, I doubt I could. I haven’t really slept much since Buffy and them disappeared.”
“We could do that,” Connor said.
“Let me leave a note for Fred and Gunn so they don’t worry.” Dawn said, grabbing a pencil. “It’s almost six now, so I’ll just tell them we’ll meet them at the Magic Box when they wake up.”
Dawn finished the note. “Where should I put it?” Dawn asked.
“Front door,” Connor suggested. “That way they can see it when they come down the stairs.”
“‘K,” Dawn said. She went into the kitchen to grab some tape, then taped it to the front door. “Lets go,” she said.
Connor heard a car pull up out front as he was opening the front door. He closed the door quickly. “Let’s go out the back,” he said.
“Whatever,” Dawn said.
“After you,” Connor said.
Dawn smiled and headed for the back door.
Connor grabbed the note off the door and shoved it in his pocket before quickly following Dawn out the back.

Angel got out of his car and walked up to Buffy’s front door.
It was close to sunrise so he hoped someone inside was awake.
Not so lucky. He wound up pounding on the door for nearly ten minutes before a half asleep Fred finally answered the door.
“You made it!” Fred cried, throwing her arms around the vampire. “And where have you been? Why didn’t you call?”
“We’ll talk about it later,” Angel said. “Right now I need to talk to Connor.”
***
“Have you ever been to a diner before?” Dawn asked.
“What?” Connor asked, obviously distracted.
“I asked if you’ve ever been to a diner before.”
“Oh,” Connor said. “Yeah. Once, a few weeks ago. Fred took me out to lunch.”
“Oh,” Willow said. “What’s wrong?”
“I’ve done something,” he said. “And I need to go now.”
“What?” Dawn asked. “No. Whatever it is we can work through it together.”
“I don’t want to get you involved,” Connor said, standing.
“Please. Get me involved,” Dawn insisted. “Maybe I can help.”
Connor sat back down. “I don’t want to get you involved, but if you insist. I will tell you. Then we will see if you still want to get involved.”
“Ok,” Dawn said.
***
“They’re probably at the Magic Box,” Fred said.
“He’s alone with Buffy’s sister,” Angel said. “We have to find them.”
“Angel,” Fred said, “what is going on?”
Angel sighed. “It all started the night that I was going to meet Cordelia,” he started.
***
“Wow,” Dawn said. “Do you think he’s still alive?”
Connor nodded. “Vampires don’t need to breath.”
“We have to go get him then,” Dawn said.
“Someone already did,” Connor told her. “He was just pulling up to the house when we left.”
“Oh, that’s why you wanted to go out the back.”
Connor nodded. “Now you see why I have to leave.”
Dawn was torn. On the one hand, Connor had done something horrible to his father, but on the other hand she really liked him and she didn’t want him to leave.
Connor stood up again. “I’m sorry you got dragged into this.”
“Wait,” Dawn said. “Stay here. Let me go talk to Angel. I’ll just tell him you’re sorry for what you did and see if he’s willing to forgive you.”
Connor put his hand on her shoulder. “That’s nice of you, but it won’t work. What I did was unforgivable and I don’t want you to get involved any more than you already are.”
Dawn sighed as she watched him walk away.
