INTERLUDE 7
Angel sat down in his chair at his desk. He had already searched the hotel, twice. And found no sign of Cordelia, Gunn, Fred, or his son.
He knew that Connor had been staying there because his scent was all over the place.
He picked up the phone and dialed Gunn’s cell number.
***
“Gunn,” Fred mumble. “Your phone’s ringing.
“What?” Gunn asked sleepily.
“Wake up!”
Gunn rolled over and grabbed his phone off the night stand.
“It’s from the hotel,” he said.
“Well answer it,” Fred said.
“Hello?” He waited. “Angel! Where the hell have you been man?”
He listened. “Yeah, Connor is with us.” Another pause. “Sunnydale. Ok, see you then.”
“Was that Angel?” Fred asked.
“Yeah, he’s on his way.”
“Did he say where he was?”
Gunn shook his head. “Didn’t mention Cordy either.”
“Does that mean he wasn’t with her?” Fred wondered.
“I don’t know,” Gunn admitted. “I guess we’ll have to wait til he gets here and ask him.”
“Can he make it before sunrise?”
“I hope so,” Gunn said.
“Should we tell Connor?”
Gunn rolled over again to face the wall. “Let him sleep.”

“Wow,” Dawn said. “It’s like after five already. I can’t believe I’m not tired.”
Connor smiled. He could tell she was lying, but that meant that he liked staying here and talking to her.
“What?” Dawn asked.
“Nothing,” Connor said.
“Where were we?” Dawn asked. “Oh yeah, you and Angel. Your dad. You guys weren’t getting along because you think he killed that Holtz guy.”
“Yeah,” Connor said.
“I’ve known Angel for a while,” Dawn said. “He was always a good guy. I don’t see why he would do a thing like that. Unless her was...”
“What?” Connor asked. “Angelus?”
“Yeah,” Dawn admitted. “Though I really wasn’t here when he lost his soul for a little while, I do remember what happened. But the only way for him to turn evil like that again is for him to have that moment of happiness that he can only get with Buffy. And I know that they haven’t even seen each other since right after she was brought back from heaven.”
“How do you know it didn’t happen then?”
“Because someone would’ve called us is Angel got all evil.”
“No one called you when he went missing,” Connor reminded her.
Dawn thought about that for a second. “Well, from what I understand, the ones that would’ve called us are out of the picture. Wes doesn’t work there anymore and Cordy is missing along with Angel.”
“Yeah,” Connor said.
“Do you think they’re together?” Dawn wondered.
“No,” Connor said. “I don’t.”
CHAPTER 11:
“Wow,” the Dawn said when she opened the door. “You weren’t kidding. There really are two of each of you... Except Tara... oh! Willow!” She rushed out to give the new version of her friend a hug.
“I ordered the pizza,” Dawn continued. “But I don’t have any money to pay for it.” She eyed both Buffys. “Which one of you is my bank?”
The Buffys exchanged a smile.
“Neither one of us,” the other Buffy said. “But I am the one that can take away your allowance if you keep that up.”
Dawn smiled sheepishly. “Hey sis, missed you too.”
“Right,” the Buffy said, not convinced. “Did you set the table?”
“Of course,” the Dawn said. “I even made a salad, did the breakfast dishes, and cleaned the house.”
“Can I have your sister?” Buffy joked.
“No,” the other Buffy sighed. “I’m kinda used to having her around. Besides,” she added. “The dinner dishes consisted of three bowls, three spoons, and two coffee cups, and the only cleaning that needed to be done was vacuuming.”
“Still,” Buffy said. “My sister would’ve waited for me and Willow to do it.”
“Mine usually does too,” the buffy admitted.
“Maybe she wants something,” Buffy suggested.
“She probably does,” the other Buffy admitted.
“So, where’s everyone going to sleep?” the other Anya asked.
“Hadn’t really thought about it,” the Buffy admitted.
“Well, if you’re short on space Xander and I can take Anya and Xander home with us,” the Anya offered.
“Cool,” the Buffy said. “If that’s alright with all the Anyas and the Xanders.”
“That sounded really strange,” Xander said. “But I’m cool with it if no one else objects.”
No one did.
The pizza arrived a few minutes later and they all sat down at the table to eat.

“Are you sure you want to sleep on the couch?” Tara asked.
“Not really,” Willow admitted, “but I think it would be best.”
“Yeah,” Tara admitted. “Probably.”
“But we can hang out for a while and talk, if you want.”
“Ok,” Tara said. “What should we talk about?”
“I don’t know,” Willow admitted.
“Maybe I should just go to bed,” Tara said. “This whole thing is just weird.”
“Yeah,” Willow said. “Wait.”
Tara turned around to face her.
“What did you do when your Willow died?”
Tara sighed. “Why?”
“Just curious,” Willow said. “Because I know what I did when my Tara died and I was just wondering...”
Tara sat back down on the couch next to Willow. “I... I tried to kill Warren.”
“Tried?” Willow asked. “So, you didn’t kill him?”
Tara shook her head. “I couldn’t do it.”
Willow smiled. “I think that’s one of the main reasons she loved you so much.”
Tara smiled back. “What did you do? When your Tara died?”
“I killed Warren,” Willow said. “Then... I went all dark Willow for a while.”
“It’s ok,” Tara said. “You don’t have to tell me.”
“I think that it would be best if I didn’t,” Willow admitted. “It might tarnish the memories you have of your Willow.”
