1:56 Sunnydale Graveyard
Reggie had told him everything he knew. He had no more reason to torture him but a voice inside Trevor told him not to stop. It told him to make it feel pain in the most sadistic ways possible. Trevor held his head and fell to his knees. He didn’t see three vampires coming up behind him. They had heard Reggie’s cries of pain. They had seen Trevor torture him. They were intrigued so they let him. Reggie was a young fool to them. Each of them was at least fifty years old.
“Nice work boy,” the first one and obviously the leader said as Trevor still held his head and was on his knees.
“Hey what are we gonna do with him,” the second asked as he walked up behind the first.
“I say we just kill him and go home,” the third one said as he dragged up a bound and gagged girl they had captured for their master. She had blonde hair and green eyes that seem to scream terror. “This one is getting heavy and bothersome.”
Trevor still just lay there as the three came closer. The third dropped the girl who was trying to scream but only came out a muffled noise.
“Hey kid you ready to die, quit cowering and answer me,” the first one said in an angry tone as he came to stand just behind him. The others came to stand to either side of their leader with their game faces on and laughing at Trevor thinking he was scared of them.
Trevor spun around quickly and stood eye to eye with the first. His eyes glowed purple and his hands clenched up into fists as he smiled at the first one, “After you.”
The laughing stopped.
1:56 Buffy Summer’s Room
Buffy twisted and turned as she slept. As the Slayer she would have prophetic dreams from time to time. Tonight was one of those nights. She was standing in a place she didn’t recognize. It was a school, but not Sunnydale High. She stood at the very front of it. The sign said it was Brooksville High School. Buffy had never heard of a Brooksville. All the sudden it was like someone pressed play on a VCR. All around her vampires where suddenly destroying everything. The school was on fire as was everything else it seemed. People were being ripped to shreds all around Buffy. She ran up and tried to attack one vamp but her hand passed though him. She was little more then a specter here. She looked around feeling helpless and bewildered. She then saw someone she knew. She saw a girl running being lead by…Trevor.
Trevor jumped back on to the slab that Reggie was chained to as the vamps rushed him. He kicked the first one in the face and then jumped back down the other side. The second came running at him around the slab and slashed at him. Trevor, eyes still glowing purple, grabbed the arm and snapped the elbow like a twig. The vamp howled in pain and rage as Trevor kicked it to the side. The third was able to get to him around the other side and slash at his back. Trevor grunted in pain as he brought his elbow into the vamps stomach. The vamp bent over and Trevor wheeled around back handing him in the face. Trevor mumbled something about how he use to be stronger then that as the first vamp leaped up on top of Reggie and kicked at Trevor. It caught him in the shoulder and Trevor grabbed his leg and pulled the vamp down. Reggie screamed for them to let him out of the chains as Trevor jumped on top of the slab and grabbed a stake he left next to him.
“Shut up sissy boy,” Trevor said as he staked Reggie and he exploded into dust. The bound and gagged girl screamed muffled screams, as she lay helpless. The vamps surrounded the slab. Trevor had his back to the second one and he kicked high catching Trevor in the back of the knee. Trevor fell to one knee pulling out holy water and splashing some at the other two just before they could grab at him. The second jumped up behind him on the slab and backhanded him in the head causing Trevor to fall off the slab as the other two vamps screamed as there faces smoked.
Buffy stared as Trevor and the girl ran though the chaos right past her. Buffy noticed that Trevor looked younger and realized this was the past she was seeing. She followed Trevor as he and the girl used crosses and holy water to fight their way to a small house across the street. Lucky for them most of the vampires were to caught up in destroying the town or had their own victims already. Trevor and the girl made it in the house with about five vampires hot on their trail. The vampires pounded on the door. Buffy suddenly found herself on the other side of the door. Trevor and the girl were running though the house as Trevor yelled for his mother. She came out of a back room. She seemed oblivious to what was going on outside.
“Mom,” Trevor said running up and hugging her, “Thank goodness your safe.”
“Of course I am sweetie,” she said hugging back as she looked at the girl with Trevor, “Who is this.”
“Oh this is Aly,” he said pulling back, “She is a friend, look mom the whole town is infested with vampires. I know that sounds crazy but believe me it’s true.”
“We have to get out of here Mrs. Redfeild,” Aly spoke up as she watched the door.
“Don’t be silly,” Trevor’s mother side as her face twisted to that of a vampire and three more vampires came out of the back room, “your not going anywhere.”
The second vamp was kicking Trevor in the stomach. Trevor could feel his ribs wanting to give and his stomach screaming to empty. The other two would soon recover and he had to act fast. He stared up with his glowing eyes at the vamp as it kicked one more time. This time Trevor spun to his side and grabbed his foot twisting it and breaking the ankle. He knew it would only stay broke for a few moments on a vamp. He then reached up grabbed the vamp’s knee and stood and reached up and stuck the pulled out knee with all his might. The cracking of the knee was almost as loud as the vamp's scream. The other two were running over so Trevor quickly staked the vamp and stood waiting for the other two in it’s ashes.
Aly held the vamps back with a cross as Trevor’s mother choked him as he lay on the ground. Aly could do nothing. If she dropped the cross for even a second it was all over. Trevor was so shocked he could barely struggle against his mother. He was finally able to roll her off of him. He jumped up as she lunged for him. He rolled with her lunge and she flew over him. He was acting of only self-preservation. He cried for her to stop but she didn’t listen. He held up a stake and threatened her. She only laughed and jumped at him again. She knocked him to the ground and started to choke the life out of him again. He screamed for her to stop.
“You’ve been a bad, bad boy, “ she said to him as Aly could only scream for him to fight. As he was about to black out from lack of air. He plugged the stake into his mother’s heart. She cried out and exploded to dust. Just then the door broke down and an older man dressed in a tweed suit and a brown over coat came in and fired a shotgun at the vamps Aly was holding off.
“Get in the car,” he yelled to them in an English accent Aly backed up still holding up the cross. The vampires would not be killed by that blast but it did hurt them. Trevor only kneeled in the ashes that was his mother and cried. The man snapped him up and dragged him away as Aly backed them all the way to the man’s car.
Trevor was lucky that he and the vampire he just staked were on the opposite side of the slab. The first vamp came around the slab as the third jumped over it in a rage. Trevor held out the stake and the third landed on it.
“I bet you feel stupid,” Trevor said to him as it exploded into dust. Now he stood face to face with the first and the last one. Trevor’s eyes still glowed as they just stared at each other.
“Neat trick with the eyes,” the vamp said to him coldly, “but glowing eyes or no you’re still no stronger then a human.”
“I’m not as strong as I once was,” he said clenching his fists, “but I’m strong enough.”
They stood there in silence for many moments staring each other down, seeing who would make the first move.
“Another time perhaps,” the vampire said backing off then turning and running away.
“Looking forward to it.” Trevor said as he walked over to the bound and gagged girl. He leaned over her and was about to untie her when a voice in his head spoke.
“Kill her,” it said. Trevor’s eyes still glowed as he tried to pretend it was only his imagination. He began untying the girl as it again spoke to him. “Kill her”, this time it yelled at him. He started to shake his head. The girl looked up still in shock and crying. He muttered “No” under his breath. He went back to untying the girl as the voice again spoke, “Give in, you know you want to.”
“Shut up,” Trevor said in an angry tone, the girl looked up at him strangely. She didn’t know what to make of him. His eyes did glow this strange purple color but he did just save her.
“Look at her, so young, almost your age,” the voice in his head said to him. “Kill her, be strong again”.
“No”, Trevor yelled as the girl look up at him in fear. He stopped his eyes from glowing as he finally undid her knots. She took her gag off and thanked him in a nervous tone.
“Kill her you weak fool,” the voice in his head yelled at him, “listen to me and be strong like you use to.”
“No” Trevor screamed aloud and startled the girl. She ran off with all her might. Under his shirt a cross necklace glowed as he heard another voice.
“Ya don’t have ta listen to em”, the female voice said in a thick Jamaican like accent.
“Who is he,” he said to the female voice. As he fell to his knees and held his head.
“A darkness put inside you,” she said to him, “I have just now beat him back enough to speak to you.”
“And…who are you” he asked her as he rose to his feet.
“Ever since you found de neck lace you where I have been with you,” she said to him.
“This” he asked as he took the ornate cross necklace out from under his shirt and held it in his hand. It felt warm to the touch and glowed a bright white color.
“Yes it has let me join with you,” the female voice in his mind spoke to him.
“I know it’s the Soul of the Slayer,” Trevor said confused and siting on a bench, “I know it gives a normal person dreams like the Slayer has, but how did it combine us”
“When your team sent by de Watcher’s Council found dis a about a year ago I had just died,” the voice told him, “It is a link to the essence of every slayer, you put it on not knowing what it was and we choose you.”
“Chose me,” Trevor asked confused.
“Yes, you are de one we bonded with and we have fought off the darkness that was put in you.”
“What”, he asked even more confused as he felt the sting of his wounds now that the adrenaline was wearing off.
“You have a dark power in you Trevor Redfeild,” the voice told him, “Placed by the Council, you were near being one with it till we were bonded to you. You remember being stronger then you are now and don’t you feel a lot more guilty for the things done by you for de council?”
“Well, yeah,” Trevor said remembering the things the council made him do, things far worse then torturing a demon, “But I found this thing a year ago, why have you waited so long to speak to me, and who the hell are you?”
“It has took me dis long to fight back de dark force in you,” the voice told him, “I am keeping him away as we speak and it takes much of my energy to do this. He is growing weaker as I keep you away from him and your regain more of your soul”, the voice said as he sat in shock, “oh and my name is Kendra”.
The scene around Buffy changed. She was no longer witness to the Brooksville horror. She was in a cave. It was dank and wet. She heard voices behind her. Out of the darkness stepped six people. The first was Aly, the girl from before. She had light auburn hair and two strands braided and falling on either side of her face. The second was a huge man with ravens tattooed all over him. The third was a young African-American male dressed in an over coat. To his side was Trevor, he was dressed in a black overcoat. Behind Trevor were twin brunette women. One wore a black leather tank top and pants. The other also wore black leather pants but a red top.
“What the hell are we doing in a bloody cave in the middle of nowhere,” the big man with the raven tattoos grumbled as they walked farther in the cave. He looked like he was of American Indian descent.
“You know were supposed to be looking for some damned mystical necklace Raven,” the dark skinned male in the brown overcoat said to him.
“Were a vampire hunting squad, not a spelunking team Griff.”
“Tell that to the council,” one of the twins spoke up.
Buffy looked at Trevor. He seemed different from the one she had met. There was such sadness in his eyes.
“Hey,” the other twin spoke up, “me and Claire were gonna keep quiet, but has anyone else felt…a little weird since the council did that magic stuff to us way back.” Buffy noticed each one of them stiffen as they walked for many moments in silence.
“Yeah,” Griff said, “They said they were gonna do spells to make us stronger and all, and it worked I know, but…”
“But there seem to be some weird side effects.” Raven finished for him.
“Yeah it’s been about a year now,” Claire said as her eyes began to glow red, “and this is happening now.”
They stopped walking and stared at her glowing eyes. Buffy was shocked at it and was even more shocked when each of the six’s eyes began to glow red, even Trevor’s.
“This is too freaky,” Aly said to them all.
“What did those bastards do to us,” Raven asked sitting on a rock.
“Hey so our eyes glow,” Griff spoke up, “We owe the Council a lot.”
“They did give us a home after each of us lost ours,” the other twin spoke up.
Buffy noticed how quiet Trevor was. She was in shock too. She wished she knew what was going on in this crazy dream.
“But look at what we have to do for them,” Aly spoke up, “We kill all the time, and not just vamps anymore, and I’ve been finding it’s getting easier to do.” They all nodded in agreement.
“It’s like every day a piece of me slips away or something,” Raven said.
“Hey guys I’m gonna keep looking.”
They all just nodded as they sat in silence.
Buffy was forced to follow Trevor in this dream. He walked for a long while. He looked frustrated as slammed his fist down cracking a rock. He looked up and saw that there was empty space behind the rock. He pushed his way though with the might no normal man possessed. The chamber within was large and ornate. Sculptures of women of various races were along the wall. Buffy surveyed the room. She wondered if the statures were of Slayers. The room was very stuffy. This was more then likely the first time it had been opened in centuries. In the center of the room was an ornate stand on which an even more ornate cross, it laid on the stand faintly glowing. As Trevor neared it something in him felt like it was pulling him back away from it. He still walked toward it slowly. Another drive in him kept pulling him closer and closer. His eyes shined red without him wanting them to as he stood just to the necklace. Something possessed him to pick it up. He hands seemed to lightly smoke but from what Buffy could tell he didn’t seem to notice. He placed the necklace around him and cried out in pain and feel to the floor. He fell to his knees. Buffy leaned down and reached out to him but her hand passed though him. She had forgot that this was a dream and she could do nothing here. Then in a flash they were both somewhere else. Trevor was still lying unconscious. There was only darkness or rather there was nothing for the light to shine on. They were in a void. Buffy froze in terror as the spectral images of hundreds upon thousands of women appeared all around them. They were of every race, every creed, and every color. They were Slayers of the past. She saw the one nearest Trevor. She knew her. The black skinned girl stood over him as the others circled him.
“K…Kendra,” Buffy said in amazement.
“There is a evil in this boy,” all the slayers save for Kendra spoke at once.
“It is not his fault,” Kendra replied, “He cannot be held responsible for what de Council did to em.”
“Our Council corrupted from the inside, placing our enemies in the bodies of the innocent” they all spoke again in anger, “You were the last of us to die Kendra. It is you who must be his guide.”
“I agree to this,” Kendra replied. A chill wind seemed to blow and there was a flash of light. Buffy couldn’t see a thing. When the light faded she saw Trevor kneeling by the stand as she noticed they were back in the room. His eyes were glowing again, but now they were not red, but purple. The other five came running in and up to him. Buffy then awoke with a start to the blare of the alarm clock. She leaned up and hit the off button and then lay back down.
“Why do I eat tacos before bed,” she said to herself groggily as she got out of bed, showered, and dressed for school, “Looks like the talk of weirdness with Trevor will be sooner then expected.” She hugged her mother goodbye as she came down the stairs and out the front door. She wondered to herself if the dream had been real or not. She knew she had to go talk to Giles. She wanted to go and talk to Angel, though not about Trevor. She missed him, but she knew she needed some space. He did his job of pretending to be Angelus well, all to well for Buffy’s taste. She pushed it out of her mind and returned to wondering about Trevor. “Why does every new kid have to be all demon wackyfied,” she sighed as she walked to school.
