“Graveyard Shift”
The vampire pulled it’s way out of its grave. It raised its arms, stretched and growled. It felt so free. Last night it had been just a regular teenage boy, hurting from football and starting school. Now it was free and unconfined. All it needed was a meal.
“Hey, fang face.” The vampire whirled around. Who would insult such a glorious creature? The remark came from a girl standing behind his tombstone. She had short dark hair, and was extremely pretty. He didn’t like her bright color of fashion, but that was okay. He appreciated the breakfast in bed. The vampire jumped at her, but to its surprise she easily avoided it. It landed, rolled and attacked her again. She blocked its attacks. The vampire was surprised. No mortal could be this strong. Finally it broke her defense, landing a good blow to her jaw. It expected her to go down, out like a light, but she shrugged it off and landed a good one on its chin. The vampire couldn’t believe it. No mortal could be this tough. She kicked it in the stomach, doubling it over. She brought the stake up wards, driving it through the vamps chest, piercing its heart. The vampire looked up, shocked. it wanted to know who she was, but it turned to dust before completing the thought. “ Compliments of Shelly the vampire slayer.” She answers the question anyway, triumphantly.
“how’d I do?” She turned towards Buffy who had watched the slaying from the sidelines.
“Your kick is a little awkward, but that should improve. You did fine, I guess. I’m not used to watching. That was always Giles department.” Buffy answered.
“It’s not like I need your advice anyway.” Shelly said off to the side. “It’s my first night, and I’ve killed two with relative ease. I am definantly slayer material.” Shelly stated her slayer supiorarity with a smile.
“Yeah, and they were both brand new vampires. No experience, no bites, no knowledge of a slayer. They are pieces of cake.” Buffy countered nodding her head with each description. “You’re dealing with Baby-pires here.”
“I can take out the big ones too. With a little training I’ll be awesome! Lets remember who replaced who as the Slayer!
“Fine Shelly. Whatever. It’s getting to be midnight. We should check in with Giles.” Buffy stood up and the two walked toward the gate of the graveyard. “One other thing Shelly. You don’t have to introduce yourself as Shelly the Vampire slayer EVERY time.”
Karos waved the smile vile of clear blue liquid in front of Spikes face, as if he was trying to hypnotize the slayer of slayers. “This little mixture here is my secret weapon, Spike. It took me over a year to track down the formula, and the necessary ingredients. It contains a dilution of unoxygenated blood, dust from a slayed vampire, and a grounded fragment of bone from the skull of a dead slayer, among other things.”
Spike grabbed the vile from Karos, gripping it gently between his thumb and index finger. He peered curiously into its contents. “Sounds good.” Spike shot Karos a look. “What does it do?”
“That’s the beauty of it Spike. You pour it on to the slayers head, and it becomes a sort of deflector shield, separating her from her powers. She would be as vulnerable as the next feeble mortal. Then it’s just a matter of deciding which side of that delicious neck you want to bite into.”
Spike laughed. “Both.” He said with a smile.
“No vampire knows her better then you. Her patterns, her tendencies....Our plan of action is your department.” Karos took the vile from Spikes hand. “Lothos, you shall be avenged.”
