Buffy, Giles, and William walked down the hall towards the steps that led to the dinning room.
“So Buffy did you have a good flight?” Giles asked trying to break the silence and the awkward tension that surrounded them.
“It was fine,” she replied.
“Good. So how have you been? How was your past semester at school? Joyce said you have lots of….”
“Stop it!” Buffy yelled suddenly, “Stop trying to pretend like everything is okay and stop trying to pretend like you know me! You don’t know anything about me!”
“Buffy, it may not seem like it but I do understand.”
“No you don’t! You have no idea what I’ve been through and stop pretending like you care about me! I know you don’t! You didn’t want me to come here; I was just forced on you because no one else would have me and you were just too nice to say no!”
“You’re right maybe I don’t know you anymore; but that also means you don’t bloody well don’t know a thing about me! So don’t tell me that I don’t care about you and don’t act like you now everything about me!”
By the time they had finished yelling at each other they were almost downstairs. They had been walking side by side during their argument, while William followed at a safe distance behind them. He had no idea what was going on but he thought for the time being it would be best if he stayed out of it.
“Ummm….dinner’s ready,” Jenny said when they arrived at the bottom of the stairs.
“I’m not hungry,” Buffy stated as she quickly walked through the foyer and slammed the front door on her way out.
**********************
A few hours later:
William was sitting on the steps that overlooked the foyer; listening in on Giles and Jenny’s conversation.
“She’s still not back?” Giles asked.
“No, don’t you think you should go look for her.”
“She’ll be fine. Besides if she doesn’t want to be found she won’t be. She just needs some time to be alone. Also I notified the guards to lock the gates surrounding the estate; no one is allowed in or out. She won’t be able to leave,” he said trying to convince himself more then Jenny.
“I’m sure she’ll be fine. Don’t worry,” Jenny said putting her hand on his shoulder.
Well, if he won’t look for her I will; William though as he went to grab his coat and let himself out the back door so he could begin his search.
*********************
Buffy laid in the grass in a secluded part of the estate; staring up at the stars. She needed to clear her head; this was all just too much. Everything had happened so fast and she was just so confused and angry.
She was angry at her dad for everything had had done; angry at her mom for never being able to stop him. Angry at Giles for never realizing what was going on; for being blind to the truth. She was angry at everyone who had ever suspected anything had been wrong but never did anything to stop it- her friends, her teachers, her neighbors.
Who was she suppose to trust no one seemed to care enough to help her. Giles hadn’t even come to look for her. Not that she needed him; she didn’t need anyone. She was strong and she had made it this far alone and she could finish her journey alone if she needed to as well.
Buffy knew she wasn’t really alone; when her friends had learned the truth they had been so worried and concerned. Especially Willow and Xander; they had both felt so guilty for not seeing it sooner. She was loved; her mother loved her and so did her friends. It was just that sometimes it didn’t feel like it; like now she was in a strange new country, far away from her friends and family and she just felt so alone.
****************
William had been searching for Buffy for hours and he was having no luck. It also didn’t help that it was extremely dark and he hadn’t brought a flashlight. Bloody hell why does Giles need such a big house anyway; the house William thought Buffy could have already gone back and he would have never known.
That’s when he tripped over something or more correctly someone and fell forward.
“Ow,” Buffy yelled, “Watch where you’re going.”
“Buffy?” William asked, “I have been looking for you.”
“You have?” Buffy stated, surprised.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I was worried about you.”
“Oh, well you found me.”
After an awkward silence William said, “Are you hungry?”
“Yeah.”
“Come on; I’ll show you were the kitchen is.”
“Can you cook?”
“Can you?" he asked as they headed back twoards the house for a late night snack.
