Werlech Demon
The Werlech demon appeared several times in my fic The Man With A Thousand Faces, but only as a character in the background whose destiny was to be killed and used as a weapon.
The Werlech demon has dark, leathery skin of dried, stretched texture, bearing a face vaguely similar to a boar. It has two long, black horns which curve gently out behind its head like an antelope. The rest of its body is nearly human, excepting its unusual stature and longish arms.
The Werlech demon originates outside of this dimension and was able to cross into it because at one point, in the late twelfth century, it was host to the trans-dimensional entity known as the Key.
The demon, a mercenary and warrior by nature, raised an army and tried to conquer what was left of the Byzantine empire, only to be defeated by Prince Alexius II and the monks of the order of Dagon.
The demon spent the next nine hundred years searching for the Key, trying to return to its own dimension to raise another army, but was killed when it encountered the hellgod Glorificus when she had acquired it for the same purpose.
The Werlech demon was associated with the underground soul-trading industry and was imbued with the power to separate a mortal from his soul. Souls are the most valuable comodity on the demon black-market.
The Werlech demon is currently very dead, one of its horns having been preserved as a trophy by the last remaining Knight of Byzantium.
This demon is available for use in any BtVS - past fics, assuming its motive is kept true. It is not decided whether 'Werlech' is the name of the specific creature or the species, or if there was only one such demon in existence. If you choose to use it, slight recognition would be nice.
