Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Music swirlled around inside the Bronze. Heat was generated from the bodies of the many teens who were dancing and socializing. A typical night here. Or so it seemed. Things had been anything but typical lately. People were not themselves. Something was wrong.

In the back of the club, he sat in shadows. He knew something was wrong, but he didn't know what. His angelic face was now twisted into a worried grimance. Why was he so worried? He had nothing to justify his feelings. He only knew that something wasn't right, and he had to warn her about it, before it was too late. And so Angel waited for Buffy to arrive.

The door of the Bronze opened, and then it was as if a celebrity had walked in. The girl smiled to herself. All the boys' heads had turned the moment she walked in.

* Now this, this is power* the red head thought to herself, * This is what I've always wanted.*

She wore a short black dress that tied around her neck, leaving her shoulders, and much of her back, bare . Her red tresses were piled up on the top of her head, leaving the ends casscading down her back. Everywhere she looked people were staring, and she smiled slyly. She loved every moment of it. Willow then confidently walked up to a handsome senior guy. He had never even know she was alive before, but he sure did now.

Willow wrapped her fingers around his hand, and whispered in his ear. " Let's dance." How could he say no?

Buffy had her hand on the door knob, getting ready to leave for the Bronze, when the door bell rang. She opened the door, but the pretty blonde haden't expected to see the person who stood before her.

"Xander," she said in a surprised tone, " What are you doing here?"

Xander smiled, he had his hand behind his back, " I'm here to escort you on our date. Did you forget? I, for one, could not forget someone with eyes as beautiful as yours."

Buffy stood with a dumbfounded expression on her face. Not only was Xander suave, he was not looking all that bad at the momment. And Buffy also noticed that he smelled awfully good....*Whoa! Hello!? This is Xander we're talking about* she thought coming back to reality.

Xander grinned at her expression and pull a red rose from behind his back. He handed it to Buffy , who took it with yet another stupid expression on her face.

He moved closer to her. She looked up and met his eyes. His gaze was like superglue. It held fast. He took a lock of her hair in his hand and played with it absently. Without realizing what she was doing Buffy put her hand on his face. They moved closer. She could feel his breath on her face, and her eyes lowered to his lips. All she thought about was.....

"OWWWWWWW!" Buffy grabbed her head in pain.

Xander looked at her with a calm expression. " Something wrong," he asked.

"My head," Buffy said, her voice filled with the sound of pain.

Xander had an annoyed expression on his face, He sighed, " What? So I suppose you don't want to go out now."

The pain eased just in time for Buffy to give Xander a look of disgust.

"Have a little concideration, why don't you?"

Xander scratched his head, " Look. You're one of the prettiest girls in school. I have a reputation to uphold. Do you get what I'm saying?"

Buffy gave Xander an acid smile, " Yes I do. You're saying that your ego is bigger than this room and you want to use me to ' uphold your reputation'. I know that you're acting like this because of this moon thingy, but as of now I don't care! Talk to me when this nightmare is over."

She slammed the door in his face and went up to bed.

"This is what we've been waiting for. THIS is our chance," the undead child stated in a less then chilish voice.

He looked upon his minons and smiled a grumsome smile.

"Tonight is the end for the slayer! And tonight no one can save her."

Angel sat restlessly in his chair. He was tierd of sitting around waiting for something to happen. He needed to know what was going on. Maybe if he just went to see her....

Angel's thoughts drifted away when a young girl sat down next to him. She was beautiful, even though she wore thick glasses upon her nose and an outfit that lacked flattery.

"Cordelia," Angel asked not knowing if this was the same bitchy cheerleader that he had met several times before.

"Hi," Cordy replied, " I'm glad I found you."

Angel looked at her puzzeled, " What's going on, Cordelia?"

"Well, it's kind of complicated ," she said with a sigh, " You've noticed that things have been kind of, well, weird right?"

He noded.

She continued, " Well there's this thing with the moon, and it causes people to act irrationally... and then some. But there's nothing we can do about it. We've just got to keep an eye on everyone so no one...does something stupid...oh who am I kidding?! Too late for that. Well I was just wondering if you've seen Buffy, she hasen't been answering her phone."

Angel got an uneasy feeling as she told him this.

"Maybe we should go check on her," he replied.

Cordelia nodded. The two of them walked out, just as Xander walked in.

Angel gave him a nod, but Xander wasn't paying attention. He was looking at someone across the Bronze.

She was twisting a strand of her auburn hair as she talked to a group of boys. She was beautiful.....but she was Willow! Something deep down inside of Xander had screamed out telling him that he was looking at his best friend, not just some pretty girl. Xander shook off the thought , and walked over to Willow.

Willow turned to see Xander. The way his eyes looked into hers told her that he didn't want to have a friendly conversation. Willow smiled coyly.

"Excuse me boys, I have to go," she said as she pushed past the group of boys . When she got to Xander, she entangeled her fingers in his and looked into his eyes.

"Let's get out of here," she said.

And with that, they left.

Ms. Calendar sat in her apartment trying to comptemplate a new situation that had rissen. This just keeps getting weirder, she thought. I have to tell Giles about this, she thought forgetting for a moment that Giles had gone loopy on them.

So she decided to call him. The phone was across the room, and she didn't feel like getting up. So, the phone would come to her. All she had to do was think about it, and the portable phone suddenly lifted up from its craddel. And then it was floating across the computer teacher's apartment and then into her hands.

Calendar smiled to herself. " How cool is that," she exclaimed out loud.

She dialed Giles' phone number. It rang. And rang. And rang. And then the answering machine clicked on, Dudes! I'm out partying! Leave it!"

She left a message, " Giles, it's me Ms. Calendar. Um we need to talk. Call me."

God! When you really need some of that man's useless knowledge he's not around! Calendar sighed. Well, then maybe she'd go see if Buffy could help her figure out what to do next.

* * *
Buffy had the phone off the hook. She didn't want to talk to anyone. She felt so weak, like she had the flu or something. Buffy just wanted to get under the covers and shut out the rest of the world. If her mother wasn't away on the art show thingy, she might have even let her baby her the way she used to when she got sick. Her mother would bring her toast and orange juice, and this always made her feel better. Oh Well, maybe sleep will do thr trick, She thought as she turned down the covers of the bed and hopped in. She didn't even bother to change her clothes, it was too much of an effort right now. It didn't take long for her to drift into sleep. It was a deep sleep, with no dreams. It was like being blanketed in warm darkness.....until the sound of loud banging shook her from her pleasent slumber.

Buffy mumbeled as she walked down the steps of the house to the front door. " It's always something ," she said to herself, " Can't get a decent amout of sleep..."

She looked into the peep hole. Her eyes widened.

She opened the door quickly, suddenly wide awake.

"Angel? Cordelia? What's the matter?"

Buffy walked out onto the porch closing the door behind her.

"Buffy," Angel started," Something's wrong. I don't know what. I just have this feeling that something bad is going to happen."

Buffy nodded, " Well, I'm assuming Cordelia told you about the whole moon thing , huh?"

Cordy nodded.

"I think we need to get everyone together so we can make sure everyone's okay. Safety in numbers," Angel said with a certain authority.

Buffy looked at him, " You think the Annointed will try something?"

He shruged his shoulders, " I don't know. But it would sure be a perfect opportunity, wouldn't it?"

Buffy and Cordy nodded.

"Okay ," Buffy said , " I'll call Willow's and Xander's and tell them to meet us at the Bronze."

Cordelia let a small smile creep across her face, " You might be able to kill two birds with one stone if you just call Willow's."

Buffy looked at her puzzeled, " What are they studying together or something?"

Angel let out a chuckle, " Well maybe each other."

Buffy's mouth gaped open. " Are you saying.... nah! ...oh my god! Well we-we-we've gotta stop them before..."

"Before what," Cordelia asked.

Buffy ran inside, " I don't know! Just ..... something!"

Willow opened the door to her bedroom with the hand the wasn't entangeld in Xander's hair. Since she couldn't see where she was going, due to the fact that her eyes where closed, which was due to the fact that her and Xander were playing tonsil hockey ( and the score was tied), Willow felt her way into the room.

Finally Willow thought, Xander Harris is thinking about me instead of that bitch, Buffy Something in Willow's stomach tightened. That wasn't the way she felt about Buffy.....Buffy was her friend... No! She's not my friend. She wants Xander for herself. But she's not gonna win. He's mine.

Xander ran his had down Willow's back. God she's beautiful. Alot easier than Buffy..... What the hell was he thinking?! Willow? Easy? Maybe I should go... His thoughts were interrupted by a telephone ring.

Willow let go of him. She smiled seductively. " Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back." She giggeled and then picked up the phone.

"Hello," Willow said brightly into the phone.

"Willow," the voice question on the other end.

"Yes, Who's this?"

"It's me, Buffy. Look , Will, I know things are whiggy but I think something's up. I think we should all meet at the Bronze, it'd be safer. Oh and have you seen Xander-"

"Look Xander and I have other arrangements. We can't make it. But I'm sure we'll see you in school tommorrow. Oh, no. I forgot. I'll be avoiding you, so you won't."

"Will, just-"

But it was too late. Willow had hung up.

"Who wasthat," Xander asked as Willow returned to his side.

"Oh just some vampire slayer, but who needs them," she joked as she drew him close again.

He backed away, " Buffy? Was Buffy in trouble? Willow what did she say."

"God is that all you think about," Willow exploded, " Buffy this and Buffy that! What about Willow! What about me!"

Xander looked at her, slightly confused. he wasn't sure what was going on. " What about you?"

"AHHHHHHHH," Willow cried out, " Were you thinking about her when you were kissing me? HUH?"

Xander looked like a guilt child, " No..... but that's not the point right now. Willow somethings up! We've been acting weird, and I think Buffy can help us figure this-"

"Fine! Go help Buffy but you won't get me to go along. I've had enough, and I think you should go."

Xander looked hurt. He turned to leave, then hesitated. " Willow I'm sorry. I'll call you later." So then he left.

Maybe I should go help.....maybe something is really wrong. Willow stared at the phone....

Buffy, Angel, and Cordelia were on their way to the Bronze. They had tried to get a hold of Giles, but he wasn't home. Buffy had also tried Ms. Calendar's house as well, but again there was no answer. It was getting late, and Buffy was feeling worse then before. She felt as if she was dreaming, everything was sort of fuzzy. But she kept on pushing. Buffy's thoughts drifted.... then she faltered. Angel saw her loose her balance.

"Buffy!"

That was the last thing she heard. Her soft blue eyes rolled into the back of her head, and then everything went black.

Cordy gasped, " Buffy! Oh my god!"

Angel caught the slayer in his arms before her tiny body hit the pavement.

Cordelia rushed over to Buffy.

"Angel we have to get her to a hospital, now!"

Something in Angel's stomach tightened. He turned around, and his eyes widened.

"No," he whispered, " God help us."

Cordelia turned. A scream formed in her throat, but it would not be heard.

The vampires desended upon them.
