Buffy stood looking through her closet a week later. She couldn't find anything that wasn't too slutty or too conservative. "I need Angel here.”Buffy sighed. Everything was so much easier when he was around. She leaped onto her bed and picked up the phone. She simultaneously dialed his number and listened to it ringing, "You've reached the O' Connor's. Were not available so leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can." Buffy hung up and dialed Angel's cell, "Hey, this is Angel and I'm not here. Leave me a message." Buffy threw her phone across the room and sighed.
She got back off the bed and walked over to her closet, "He's never around when I need him. I can do this on my own. I don't need a guy’s opinion. Oh my God! What kind of date is it? Movie? Pizza? Or fancy dinner? Or just coffee? Shit!" Buffy picked up her phone and dialed Willow's number, "Willow? Hey, it's Buffy. I need your help. I don't know what kind of date me and Riley are going on so I don't know what to wear and Angel's not picking up his phones."
"Ok. Calm down. I know the perfect outfit for you. It doesn't scream slut or book geek. And, it's good for all occasions."
"Well? What is it? Riley's gonna be here in three hours!" Buffy screamed.
"The black tank-top that has the little embroidered thingy in between your boobs with the flowy bottom part and that jean mini that's a little longer than that with your black heels."
"Willow! That's perfect! Angel never could’ve told me that. Thank you so much. I love you. Kiss, kiss. Bye."
"Bye. Have fun."
The two friends hung up and Buffy got the outfit out of her closet and put it on her bed. She tied her hair back into a ponytail and did her make up. Then she took her hair down and put soft curls in it. That all took an hour and a half. She dressed and looked herself over in the mirror, "Sexy." Buffy really wanted Angel to see her before she left so she tried his house again. Got the answering machine. She called his cell. Same result, "Oh well."
Buffy painted her nails red and let them dry. By the time they had finished drying, it was seven fifty, "Ten minutes." Buffy whispered. Her parents were gone for the month on some business trip so she had the house to herself. She drank a glass of water and sat on the couch examining her nails.
All of a sudden, the thought of Angel popped into her mind. What was he doing? Why hadn't he picked up the phone? He had been acting weird around her and Riley all week. Then, something disturbed her thoughts, the doorbell rang. She stood up and shook her head. She walked over to the door, took a deep breath, and opened it. Riley wasn’t standing there, Angel was,”Wow. You look amazing.”
“Thank you? Um, what are you doing here?” Buffy asked suspiciously.
“I wanted to see you before the big date.” Angel replied as Buffy moved aside and let him inside.
“Well, you see me now. Riley’s gonna be here any minute and I need to lock up.” Buffy said, still standing with the door open.
“Oh. You want me to leave?” He asked, looking right into her eyes.
“A little bit. I mean, you seem even weirder than earlier. For the last week you could barely talk to me. Now you’re fidgeting, giving me complements that seem too sincere. What’s wrong?” Buffy asked, sitting him down and sitting next to him.
Angel inhaled deeply then exhaled, “I’ve been feeling different around you lately. I kind of wanted to hang out for a little. We haven’t done that all week.”
“I would but, I have a date. Remember?” Buffy said sadly. Part of her didn’t want to hang out with him anyways.
“Oh. Right. Sorry for coming over. Stupid of me. I’ll just go home.” Angel stood up and Buffy did the same.
“I love you. You do know that right? You’re like my big brother. I love you Angel.” Buffy told him sincerely.
“I love you too, Buffy. So much you couldn’t even understand.” She leaned forward and hugged him. He hugged her tightly and inhaled her scent.
There was a knock at the still opened door. Buffy looked over and saw Riley standing there,”Am I interrupting something?” She detached herself from Angel and walked over to Riley.
“Nope, Angel and I were just talking. And now he has to leave so I can lock up.” Buffy hinted and he followed them outside. Buffy and Riley were holding hands.
“Well, see you Angel.” Riley said, opening Buffy’s door.
“Bye. See you tomorrow?” Buffy asked, smiling.
“Yep. Bye. Have fun.” Angel watched as they drove off and he got into his car. He wanted to follow them, just to see where he was taking her. He hesitated for a moment before leaving and then followed.

Riley pulled up to the Bronze and turned off the car. Buffy looked around confused. The Bronze was closed tonight. Why were they here?"
Riley got out of the car and opened her door,"Close your eyes." Buffy did as she was told and was guided into the club. He sat her down,"Now open them."
She opened her eyes and gasped. There was a special dinner made for them. Steak, shrimp, baked potatoes, the works,"Riley, how did you afford this?"
"Well, I was planning on asking you out for a while, but I didn't know how or when. I had them close the Bronze for tonight."
"But the memo has been up for months."Buffy said amazed.
"Well, I said I planned to ask you out a while ago."
"And you just thought I'd say yes?"
"No. If you didn't, then I would be cleaning here for the amount of months that I waited to ask you out."
"Then it's a good thing I like you."
"Yes it is."
The couple ate and talked then when they were finished, a private waiter came and took it away and gave them one piece of strawberry cheesecake,"It's a good thing we have to share, I don't think I could eat a whole piece without popping."
Riley laughed,"You're funny. I like that in a girl."
"Well, so are you." Riley starte to lean across the table and so did Buffy. Their lips met for a soft kiss. Buffy's lips parted and their tounges met. The kiss was sensational.
Buffy pulled away and gasped for air,"Amazing."She whispered.
"Dance with me?"Riley asked standing and holding his hand out. There was slow jazz playing in the background. Buffy stood and they walked to the middle of the empty dance floor. He put his hands around her hips and she wraped her arms around his neck. She leaned her head against his chest and listened to his steady heart beat.
"This is really nice. You didn't have to do all this."
"Well I wanted to be alone with you. And you deserved the best."
Buffy laughed an they continued dancing all night.
Angel had just gotten there and saw them dancing. It made him jealous that Riley was dancing with Buffy instead of him. He didn't know why but it did. They were just friends. Weren't they?
