A dark figure sat in a damp stone cell. All that could be heard was the drip...drip of the water that fell form the moss covered ceiling above and from the drip of the blood tears that fell from the figure's eyes. Angel sat alone in the tiny stone prison. His thoughts a swirled mass of confusion in his head. He had remembered everything, his past becoming clear after he had been sent into the vortex. He couldn't bear the thought that he had killed Jenny and had hurt Giles and everyone else so much. And he had hurt his love, his Buffy, and he would never see her again...unless she had found the other half to...but no she couldn't have, it had been lost for years he thought as he touched the jewel that hung from a chain around his neck. Suddenly a scream rose form his throat an inhuman yell of despair and sorrow as he screamed out the only thing that meant anything to him "Buffy!"...

Buffy finished recounting the tale to Giles and took a deep breath. "Will I ever see him again Giles?" she asked her voice threatening to crack. "I honestly don't know, but we have to find out what this crystal is. Perhaps that will provide an answer to your question." he replied. "Let me guess, we have to hit the books right" she said with a little hint of a smile at how predictable Giles was. "Right." he answered back "and it wouldn't hurt to have a little help either." he hadn't even finished his sentence before she had rushed to the telephone to call her friends for a little get together research party.

"This is it I've found it! All right points for the Xand man" Xander exclaimed excitedly. Cordelia, Willow, Oz, Buffy and Giles crowded around him, but Giles snatched the book from him as Buffy hopped up and down yelling "Well read it, what do I have to do, we may not have forever you know." "Oooooo-k someone needs to lighten up on their daily caffine" Xander said with a grin only to recieve a "don't go there" look form Buffy.
"Ahem" Giles started and all attention was focused on him. "Oh this isn't good, but still it is a chance to save Angel. In order to rescue him the slayer must go into the hellmouth and find her way through a labyrinth and to the other half of the crystal. When the two parts are put together the two wearing the parts of the crystal will be brought back to earth...as mortals." "So wait let me get this straight I have to go through a maze find Angel put the two halves together and he comes back as human." Buffy was almost to happy to belive it. "Not quite" Giles said sadly. A disapointed Buffy said "ok here comes the almighty catch, whats the catch Giles?" Willow broke in "the catch is that you both come back as mortals...Buffy you will be normal, you won't be the slayer anymore." "Precisely" Giles said.
"I don't care, there will be another slayer, Kendra died remember, I wasn't even the official slayer after I had died once. I'm going and I'm getting Angel back I've lost him once and WILL NOT lose hime again." Xander who was although very much in love with Cordelia still had those ever so present feelings for Buffy said " I don't think you should go Buff, I mean this is "The pits of hell" we are talking about, not just some hillbilly demon." "Xander if I don't go, I will die anyways, I have been running away form life to much and now its time to face reality, and I know that I live only for Angel's love."

Buffy turned and gave her each of friends a teary hug, as she came to Xander she whispered "if I don't make it back take care of Willow for me, she loves you, you are her her bestest". Xander nodded as he said "you will make it back, I mean hey you're like superwoman, only better." he said with an impish smile. With a slight smile through tears she turned and walked out of Gile's house into the night that would contain her fate forever.
