Part Five
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angel sat in Willow's living room on her couch in front of the TV waiting for her to finish her shower and get dressed. Angel smiled thoughtfully as he thought what it would be like to take a shower with her. 100yrs ago they had loved each other and now 11yrs later they still loved each other. Angel remembered how the day before Ezekial had come up with his crazy scheme he had planned to propose to Willow. He had picked out a beautiful gold ring, that had an intricate pattern carved into it and in the middle was a tiny emerald, her favorite jewel. Angel thought about how he had struggled for at least a yr. as to whether to propose to her or not, after all he was a vampire and she was the slayer. He had finally worked up enough courage to do it and then Ezekial came along eith his hair brained scheme. Well he hadn't gotten to propose then, but after this was all over he would. After this was all over then Willow would be the immortal protecter of his evil, and they could be together for always.
Willow stood in forntof closet searching for the perfect thing to wear. Before she knew about her old and "true" identity she had worn clothes to "blend in" with the crowd, she had always known somewhere in the back of her mind who she was, it was just a matter of finding herself, and now she had. Now she didn't have to wear unfalterring "Jane Doe" clothes, now she could wear thsoe alluring mysterious clothes that just sat in the back of her closet. Digging through her many clothes she finally found the perfect thing.
"Aha, there you are" she muttered her voice muffled by all the clothes that surrounded her. Willow pulled out a deep crimson skirt made out of a soft material that brushed the tips of her ankles and hugged her slender figure like a second skin. Next she pulled out a white satiny midriff shirt. She slipped the clothes on and looked in the mirror and agsped. She couldn't belive the girl in the mirror was the same girl as an hr before. Finally she walked over to her vanity table and put on a little mascera and a sultry berry colored lipstick. Grabbing her black sandels she walked down the stairs.
Angel did a double take when he saw her. She was absolutly breathtaking, not that she hadn't always been so, but now... he thought.
"Do you like it?" she asked timidly.
"Like, no Willow I really don't."
Her face fell and she was on the verge of tears before she heard the next part of Angel's remark.
"I don't like it, I love it Willow, you are the most beautiful person I have ever layed eyes on...You always have been."
Willow broke into a huge smile as she threw herself in his arms and kissed him.
Angel wrapped his strong arms around her tiny waist pressing her body to him kissing her with a passion, he had gone way to long without kissing her, without feeling her tiny frame pressed against his, without curling her long once black now red hair aorund his fingertips.
Willow was the first to break
away, "Angel we have to go, if we odn't we'll be late and then Giles will call and be worried."
"Your right, as useaual, but a little longer never hurt." he said as he brought his lips down on hers once again.
Later at the library
Angel and Willow walked into the library hand in hand and Giles, Buffy, Xander, and Cordelia mouths all dropped open gaping at what Willow wore and how fantastic she looked.
Buffy was the first to say something, "Wow Will, you look great."
"Ya she actually has some fashion sense in her." Cordelia said in her way of giving a compliment.
Willow gave Cordelia a dirty look before looking back at Buffy "Thanks" she said giving a bright smile to her friend. "Ok so has Giles explained the situation to everyone?", Willow recieved nods from everyone.
Xander looked up "I'm still in shock that I was a- a"
"A what Xander a girl?" Buffy said trying as hard as she could not to bust up laughing.
"Thanks for the clarification Buff."
"Ok back to subject on hand" Willow said interuppting them. "do any of you guys remember anything? Even the slightest little detail that you could tell me, maybe if you said it aloud it oculd jarr your memory."
"Nope, nada, zip, I don't remember a thing" Xander quipped while everyone else just rolled thier eyes.
"Well in that case I guess we better hit the books and see if we can find that spell to trap Ezekial's soul." Willow said as she walked over to the Gile's desk to pick up one of the books that he had layed out. As she walked by Xander she noticed him watching her walk, the way he useally watched Corelia or any of the other pretty girls at thier school walked. As soon as she passed him she broke into a wide grin.
1 hour later
"I found it! Willow come here and look at this." Willow walked over to where Giles was sitting hunched over the table puring over the book, and looked down at the text reading it aloud.
"And the slayer shall claim her true identity, remembering her life and friends of old. The slayer will find her tools and attempt a defeat and the king shall claim what is his. Through the mists shall rise a demon of old and capture the slayer for eternity."
Willow just stared at the book, an impassive look on her pretty face, as Angel walked over to her and put his arms around her whispering to her "Prophesies don't always come true, besides you have me, I refuse to let anything happen to you."
Willow looked up at him, then glanced around the room at everyone else. Willow put on her resolve face. "He is NOT going to get me, I have all of you and Angel. But I need you guys to try and remember eveything that happened. Maybe there is something that the prophesy didn't cover that you know."
"Awwww Will, do I have to, I really don't care to remember being a girl, I mean I am Xander, I am a manly man."
She walked over to him and ran her hand over his cheek looking him in the eyes. "Xander try to remember, for me, please."
"Uhhh-ok."
Willow pulled the emerald necklace that had been in her trunk out of her purse. And her mind drifted to past times. Her necklace was like Ezekial's amulet, it was a source of power for her, she remembered all the good she had done with her magick necklace, how it had cleared her mind and occasionaly helped her with a psychic prediction and how it had aided her in her healing. She walked over to Giles, took his hand in hers and placed it in his palm closing his hand around it. "Giles remember, remember being my watcher, remember the night we performed the spell."
Giles looked at the jewel lying in his palm, and let it dangle by its gold chain swinging like a pendalum. A far off look crossed her face, Willow walked behind Giles and whispered in his ear a phrase that was just between the watcher and his slayer of old.
"Buann an fhoighne ...
Suddenly Giles eyes opened wide as he exclaimed the rest of the passage "ar an chinniuint"
It was a Gaelic proverb that Willow had picked up from Angel. She had told Giles the phrase the night she was to be reincarnated. She knew Giles would understand what it meant. He hadn't wanted her, his slayer, to perform the ritual but he knew it must be done if she was to defeat Ezekial and conquer her destiny.
Giles just sat in the chair his eyes moving back in forth as if watching a movie in his heead as he recalled everything about his and his slayer's past life. Suddenly he lept up form his chair in a frenzy.
"The ring, Willow do you have the ring, the one to with the jewel to hold his soul." Angel pulled a large gaudy ring from his pocket. It was gold and had a large purple jewel cut into a daimond shape resting atop it. All around the purple stone were shapes and symbols etched into the band. He handed it to Giles, who took it and just stared. "Do you remember the ritual that you studied to capture his soul?"
"Yes." < I know it all to well. > Willow had read and re-read the procedure for what she had to do at least 100 times, she has wanted to make sure that no matter what she would remember what to do.
Giles handed her necklace and ring to her, Willow took them and put them on as she took a deep breath and went over the procedure in her head. She said the words in her head like a robot would.
Through all of this Buffy, Xander, and Cordelia had remained surprisingly quiet. Finally Buffy broke the silence. "Willow, did you have black, hair, green eyes, and pale skin?"
Willow squealed with joy "You remember!!"
"No, I don't remember, but I keep getting a mental picture of this girl, who I guess is you, talking to 3 other people."
Xander and Cordelia both answered at the same time "Me to." then proceeded to send each other death rays.
"I said it first" Cordelia started
"No you didn't" Xander said back
"Did to!"
"Did NOT!"
"HEY! Guys, cut it out already" Willow yelled, reprimanding them.
A thoughtful look lighted itself on Willow's face as she remembered the special moments thier coven had shared and how at the beggining of every meeting they would perform a little chant.
"Come over here you three, and gather around in a circle."
They all gave her funny looks but got up from thier comfy posistions around the library and complied without complaint. "Ok now connect hands and close your eyes." They did so and as soon as Willow thought that they were ready she started saying the words that had started every full moon meeting.
"By the power of the full moon's light
we ask that you keep us safe from harm.
As our coven of good and light
perform your blessed magick.
As I will so mote it be"
Willow thought as she mentally crossed her fingers,
As if on cue the other three repeated her last line,
"As I will so mote it be"
Slowly, they all opened thier eyes and looked at each other, seeing each other for who they once were.
"Group hug!" Willow shouted as they all crowded in and hugged each other laughing and crying, remembering everything. But most importantly remembering the last night that they had spent with each other before the spell.
Later that night
The whole group had sat down and talked about how thier lives were before, and Buffy and Willow had a new respect for each other, each knowing how the other felt. Willow glanced at the clock in Gile's office, "Uh-Oh, hey Angel don't you think we ought to start heading back?" The clock had read 5 and the sun would be rising in an hour or so.
Angel sighed "Ya I guess we should."
Willow looked over at Buffy and hugged her, "I'm sorry, if I had been able to beat him then you wouldn't have to got through being the slayer."
"It's ok Will, really, hey you deserved a break, you kicked some major vamp. butt in your day." she said giggling.
"Ya I guess I did."
After saying thier final goodbye's and deciding to meet back at the library tommorow night at the same time, the group split up.
Willow and Angel walked out the door together and Angel offered her his arm "May I offer to escort you home?"
"Actually I was thinking maybe I could stay at you place again, if you don't mind that is, my parents are out of town for the week."
Angel smiled his warmest smile and looked down at the petite beauty walking beside him "Of course I don't mind." With one sudden movement he swept Willow up in the air hugging her tightly before kissing her. "In fact I would love to have you stay with me."
"Good, we just have to go to my place to pick up some clothes and my toothbrush." The two walked back to the Rosenbrg's home their arms wrapped around the others waist, and Willow's head resting lightly on her beloved's shoulder.
Later at the Rosenburg home
Angel sat on the couch glancing at the clock nervously, it was now 5:30, and the sun would be creeping over the horizan soon. Angel walked up the stairs slowly.
"Willow sweetie whats taking so long?"
When he got no answer Angel became worried and rushed up the rest of the way throwing open her door. If he would have been human he would have stopped breathing, and his heart would have stopped beating. What he saw in the room put such a pain in his heart. The windows to the room were open, the curtains flowing in the wind, a dress lay on the bed, apparently one that Willow had picked out, and on it lay a note scrolled on white paper in a handwriting that was clearly antique with its spidery thin letters and perfection. With his hand trembling Angel picked up the note not wanting to read what it said, not wanting to aceppt what it said. His eyes skimmed the words-
Angelus ,and friends of the bride,
You are cordially invited to the wedding of Ezekial and Alonwye tommorow at midnight.
Come or die...
Angel did the only thing he could, he yelled out his desperation and frusteration, his torment, his anger, "NOOOOO."
