Giles and Faith sat in the study going over a set of blueprints.

“And here is the new wing for the youngest group of girls, the seven to ten year olds.” Faith finished pointing to a section of the papers laid in front of them.

“Well, Faith, I must say this all looks incredible. I do want to compliment you on the way you have taken up the slack with the Cleveland branch of operations since Buffy left,” Giles said with a half-smile as he looked at the detailed drawing of the new wing of their Slayer school in Cleveland.

“Well, Giles, was that a compliment?” Faith said with a small smirk.

“I dare say it was, yes,” Giles said with an element of surprise in his voice.

“Well, there is nothing like an almost compliment from a stuffy British librarian,” she chided, trying to hide the happiness from Giles’ approval that was so obviously radiating from her.

“That’s enough, Faith. We must go over the rest of the plans before you head back to Cleveland. I am concerned about leaving Andrew alone for too long with all those impressionable young minds. When you return I am afraid you may find them all practicing with those light swords from that dreadful film and calling each other Jedi knights and whatnot.”

“Don’t worry G-man, the little runt has made real progress. The geekdom now only consumes about 95% of his brain. And it is a light saber, not a light sword. You really should catch up on your popular culture,” Faith said, shaking her head in disapproval.

“Faith, I hardly think it is worthwhile for me know the proper term for those weapons. Besides I have always liked the Lord of the Rings much better. That is a film with class,” he added, smiling at himself.

Surprised, Faith turned back to the pile of papers in front of her. Pushing the blueprints aside, she placed a map on the table. “Well,” she said, changing the subject quickly. She didn’t like it when Giles said or did anything out of character. It was just creepy. “We have several bases set up across the globe. As planned, we are pumping out little slayers from our slayer factory here,” she said, pointing to Cleveland “and here,” she said, pointing to London. “And distributing them to the appropriate points of need.”

“I wish you wouldn’t refer to it as a factory. It is a school, Faith. We are not pumping them out, we are giving them the necessary training to use their talents to their fullest.”

“Whatever you say, G-man.”

“Alright,” Giles said, exasperated. He had all the confidence in the world in Faith, she had proven herself time and time again, and since Buffy’s resignation she had really stepped up. She successfully ran the school in Cleveland with Andrew, while making regular visits to London to check in with Giles and make sure everything was running smoothly. He did have every confidence in her, but sometimes she was just so trying!

Giles let out a frustrated sigh. “So we now have small slayer bases in New York City, Los Angeles, Buenos Ares, Paris, Cairo, and Moscow.”

“That’s right,” Faith agreed. “Our next group of graduates from the Cleveland school are going to be stationed in Rome. Our sources have found another hellmouth there. And, get this, it is located right under the Vatican!”

“Well, that is ironic.” Giles said with a chuckle. “Our next graduating class is going to be stationed in Beijing. There is no hellmouth there, but it does seem to be a central point for mystical activity. I have traced several major mystical events to that location and decided we need to expand our front to Asia.”

“How many do you have graduating this term?” Faith asked.

“Four Slayers, two Watchers, and one Witch,” Giles said proudly.

“We would as well, but we lost one Slayer in field training, this term,” Faith said, a tinge of guilt in her voice. “There are so many of us, that just shouldn’t happen anymore”

“I know it’s frustrating,” Giles said comfortingly. “But this job is still perilous, no matter how many of the girls there are. There is always a chance something will happen.”

“I know,” Faith said, looking away for moment in a very uncharacteristic show of emotion. “Kennedy is taking over leadership of the New York branch, right?” She asked quickly, changing the subject.

“Well, yes,” Giles said, a little unsure. “With Willow I am not sure how well it will work.”

“Give her a chance, G. She needs to have something to do with herself besides play nursemaid.”

“Yes,” he answered. “And I suppose we do need Vi to be captain of one our new branches, at least until she feels comfortable appointing someone to take her place.”
Faith nodded, studying the map trying to figure out the next place that would strategically be the best to set up a new camp of Slayers. After the gang had settled in Cleveland they sat down and tried to devise the best way to work with all the new “born” slayers. They decided to set up two schools, one in Cleveland to train the North and South American continent Slayers as well as the continent of Africa and one in London for the European and Asian ones. Eventually they wanted to have schools set up on every continent across the globe, but so far they didn’t have the recourses.

It was decided that not only Slayers were to be trained, but Watchers and Witches as well. Every base, mystical, research, strength, was covered for their full throttle attack against the forces of darkness. No longer were they only going to act on the defensive, waiting for evil to make their plans known. They were going to hunt evil out and destroy it.

At first their operation was small, but it had grown by leaps and bounds in the past two years. The students were getting younger and younger. They took all children who showed a “special” talent, whether it be slaying or witchcraft and trained them for the fight. The operation was so large they had practically exhausted their resources as far as teachers were concerned. They were always looking for qualified Witches, Watchers and of course, Slayers to teach. They were even beginning to employ graduates of the schools as faculty. When students graduated from the school they were sent out to a post pre-picked by the heads of each school. These smaller bases were made up of four slayers, two watchers and one witch. Each graduating class was taken under the watchful eye of one of the “senior” slayers present at the battle with the First. Under the leadership of Faith, Giles, the senior slayers, and Andrew (yes, Andrew) the forces of good were spreading, making their presence hard to escape.

“Do you think you’ll be able to contact the Coven and see if they can locate any more hot spots?” Faith asked.

“Yes, I will surely try,” Giles added. “Well let’s call it a night, shall we? I am exhausted and have some research to attend before bed.”

“Sounds good, ‘night Giles,” Faith said, standing to gather the maps and blueprints and heading up to her room to get some sleep before her flight back to Cleveland in the morning.
