Xander and Cordelia entered the Bronze together, lights flashing, music blaring, and the smell of sweat and perfume mixed together providing some sort of teenage aphrodisiac. It brought them back about ten years, to when they never would have been seen together. Cordelia had dug an old dress with a nice label out of her closet and Xander was playing the dapper man as usual. Both of them entering together was quite a lovely display. Xander proved to Cordelia that he was just as bad a dancer as always, but instead of snapping at him and telling him to get the hell out of her way, she pulled him close and gave him a kiss. They smiled, inches from each other, and he inhaled deeply, and the lovely smell of Cordelia entered him, and all he wanted to do was be as close as possible to her. A tear rolled down his cheek, and Cordelia kissed it away.
“Why are you crying,” she asked, concern etched across her face.
“I’m so happy that you are in my arms.”
She laughed and held him tighter.
“I’m sorry that I treated you like crap when I was in high school,” she whispered into his ear as she nibbled at the tip.
Oz and Willow stepped into the Bronze amid a flurry of excitement. There had been a buzz around town that Oz would show up for the reunion, Sunnydale’s very own famous person would be coming back home. Oz, even after years of the limelight, still felt self-conscious and Willow sensing Oz’s discomfort quickly pulled him onto the dance floor twirling him around so that they ended up right next to Cordelia and Xander.
“Hey, you two. You’re out of the closet,” exclaimed Willow. Cordelia and Xander looked at each other a little confused, then smiled, realizing what Willow was talking about.
“You knew,” asked Cordelia.
“Cordy, we weren’t retarded or anything. Do you think that we didn’t catch on when you guys made excuses to go to closets?”
At that, Willow and Oz spun off across the dance floor, oblivious to everyone else in the room. Intent on each other, every once in a while his hand would reach down to touch her stomach, and they would smile at each other with a happiness known to only a few in this world.
Hesitantly Buffy Summers stepped into her old haunt, memories flooded all of her senses, and she staggered backwards, supported by her doting Angel.
“I’m Ok,” she told him, looking up into his eyes. He smiled, happy that she was finally getting ready to emotionally move past Giles’ death. Angel held her hand, and then intimated to her that he would be going to the bathroom. She nodded her head, and began to walk over to a figure in a darkened corner.
“Miss Calendar,” her voice rising as if asking a question.
“Buffy!”
“Miss Calendar, can I…can I hug you?”
Miss Calendar blinked the surprise from her eyes. She had always known that Rupert’s death had hit Buffy hard, Jenny had tried to talk to her about it, but she had been brutally rebuffed and figured that Buffy probably had other ways to deal with her pain, and had left it at that. She knew somewhere inside of her that Buffy was asking her to forgive her for not being there in the time after Rupert’s death, and she gladly obliged to the hug.
“Hmm, should I be jealous,” questioned Angel.
“No, not at all,” responded Buffy. She extended her hand and Angel led her onto the dance floor where the rest of the group was waiting.
“Xander and Cordelia you two finally got out of the closet,” Buffy quipped. The pair looked at each other and laughed. Buffy turned to Willow and looked into her eyes, and mouthed the words thank you, to her. Willow smiled and hugged Buffy.
“Aww…group hug,” cried Xander. They all crowded around and hugged each other, even Angel who was usually only touchy-feely to Buffy.
“Giles would be happy,” Willow said.
“Yes, he would,” Buffy replied.
