A repeated and insistent knock brought Angel down to the front door of Buffy's house. He peered through the window of the door, and then hastily opened the door when he saw Cordelia standing outside the house, tears streaming down her face. She whispered something to Angel, whose eyes widened in shock.

"Thank you, Cordelia. I'll let her know."

Angel shut the door, and leaned up against it, running his hands through his hair and closing his eyes.

"How the hell am I supposed to tell her," he spoke to himself.

"Tell me what?"

Angel, visibly startled, looked up at the voice coming from the stairs in front of him. Buffy looked like hell, and he could tell that it was quite a strain for her to be up. It was obvious that she sensed something was wrong.

"Cordelia just stopped by," he began, figuring that honesty and quickness would be the best route to follow, "she had some bad news."

"Go on," she said as she sat down on the steps, her hand firmly attached to the banister for unneccessary support.

"It seems, it seems that Willow had alcohol poisoning, from everything that she drank and the doctors tried to do everything, they pumped her stomach, but it was too far gone, and she didn't make it," everything came out in a jumble and for a moment he looked everywhere but Buffy's eyes. When he finally did have the courage to look into her eyes, his heart nearly broke. He swiftly walked over to her and picked her up in his arms. He could already feel the sobs wrenching her body. He carried her up the stairs, trying to calm her. When he reached her room he carried her across the threshold, evoking some warm images of marriage and the future. He then placed her in her bed again, tucking her in and staying by her side, making ineffective efforts to subdue her.

"Why, did it have to happen to her," Buffy screamed. Why couldn't it have happened to me. She didn't deserve to die. She had a whole life to live, I...I am on my way out anyway. "

"Buffy, don't say that. You don't mean that, do you? You need to teach others through the mistake Willow made. You need to keep her memory alive. You need to be alive. What can you accomplish for her by giving up? I will help you, I will stand by you. So will Xander, Cordelia, Oz, and Giles. We'll all help each other get through this." By the time he had finished, and had smoothed out Buffy's hair, he knew that she was fast asleep.

"It'll be hell in the morning," he whispered, "but we'll get through it together."
