Downstairs, Angel was stading in the living room. Buffy halted at the foot of the stairs as Spike and Dawn came down.
Spike looked at Angel and growled before going out the back door.
Buffy looked at him then back at Angel. “Hold on,” she said, and ran after “Spike!”
Spike paused in the middle of the yard. “You need to go back inside and see the poof,” he said.
Buffy went toward him and looked at him. “Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t love me,” she whispered.
Spike’s eyes pierced hers as he looked for the truth. He cradled her face between his hands and lowered his lips to hers.
Buffy’s knees went weak and she snaked her arms around his neck to hold herself up.
Spike wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him.
Angel came out on the back prch and his jaw fell to the floor. “Buffy?”
Buffy and Spike didn’t seem to hear him and lost themselves in each other.
Dawn came out on the proch and a bright smile appeared on her face as Buffy and Spike kissed. “Angel, we should go inside,” she said.
Buffy reluctantly tore her lips away from Spike and r4ested her forehead against her. Tears were running down her face as well as Spike’s.
“Spike, do you love me?” She whispered.
“Yes,” he said, soflty. “More then anything in this world.”
“Buffy, what are you doing?” Angel asked.
Buffy turned and looked at him. “I’m sorry Angel,’ Buffy said, wiping her tears.
Angel walked down the stairs and toward her. “We gotta talk,” he said, pulling her away form Spike a little bit.
Buffy snatched her wrist free. “I’m not a little kid. I don’t need you to pull me on a leash,” she said.
“Buffy, I came here with good news, but I think we’ve run into a road block,” he said.
“Spike is not a road block,” Buffy growled. “He’s part of my life. What’s the good news?”
“Give me your hand,” Angel said.
Buffy looked skeptical but gave him her hand. “Why?”
Angel put her hand on his chest. “Because,” he said.
Buffy focused on the thumping beneath her hand and snatched it away. “Oh my god. You’re human,” she whispered.
Spike’s eyes widened. He looked at the ground and waited for Buffy’s rejection once again.
Buffy walked away from Angel and stood in front of the porch where Dawn was scowling.
Buffy looked at Spike who lifted his gaze. She looked over at Angel then at Spike who lifted his gaze. She sighed and walked toward Angel. She gave him a warm smile and wrapped her arms around him. “I’m glad,” she whispered.
Tears streamed down Spike’s face and he slowly backed away.
Angel wrapped his arms around her and smiled. “Finally, we get to be together,” he whispered.
Buffy frowned and pulled away. “No, we can’t. You and I had our chances and you belong with Cordy now. I belong to Spike,” she whimpered, backing away.
Buffy’s hand slipped from his and she ran towards Spike. She jumped in his arms and kissed him.
Spike’s arms went around her waist and he spun her around.
Buffy wrapped her legs around his waist. “I love you, Spike,” she whispered.
“I love you, too, Buffy,” he whispered.
Buffy smiled and kissed him again. “I love you so much,” she whispered.
“I thought…” Spike whispered.
Buffy pulled her head back and unwrapped her legs. “Don’t doubt me ok? I’ll always come home to you. And you better always come home to me,” she said, kissing him again.
Spike kissed her back. He pulled away for a second. “I will,” he said, softly.
