I’m agreeing with axel, angelsbabigurl08, and gumboy. You should definitely consider one of filmtheory’s series. The guy's stuff is definitely awesome- a nice balance of character development, emotion, and action. Plus, the guy’s an aspiring screenwriter, so he’d probably be way into it.
“Campus Life” is probably truest to the original Buffy series, seasons 1-3. It basically does for college what Buffy did for high school. It uses the supernatural as a metaphor for the mundane. the one down-side is that it focusses on the least liked character on Angel (Connor) and the least liked character on Buffy (Dawn). But it also has Willow.
Also, his “Running on Faith” is really good, too. As the name suggests, it's a series about Faith and it has some great twists and turns.
