Cassandra returned to the bar. From there, she watched Buffy leave the club. Mike came out from the back room. “Why were you talking to that girl?”
“I recognized her from somewhere.” It was not a lie, but it definitely was not the complete truth. “No big deal really.” She said with a smile. “So, are we done with those forms?”
“Yes, we are done. Finally.” Mike went behind the bar and brought out a bottle, and held it up. “We must celebrate.”
“Ah yes.” Mike filled up two glasses with champagne and handed one to Cassandra. They both held their glasses up for a toast. “Let’s drink to...What should we drink to?”
Mike smiled. “The end of paperwork.”
Cassandra laughed. “Cheers.” The two friends then drank together.
“I assume you are going back home soon.”
“I will probably return to Charleston tomorrow night.”
Mike frowned, “I want you to come over and have dinner with me and Marie tomorrow night. Can’t you postpone your trip home for one more day? Marie is dying to see you again.”
Cassandra sipped her drink and thought. [ I need to get out of town as soon as possible. I don’t want to meet up with Spike and Dru. I can’t disappoint Mike though. ] “Sure, I’ll come over tomorrow night. Is seven o’clock all right?”
“Perfect.”
Cassandra got up. “Great, I’m looking forward to it. I’ll see you tomorrow night.” She then left the club to walk back to her hotel room.

Streets of Sunnydale:
It was around 12:30am when Xander was walking home. After leaving the Bronze and taking Willow home, he started walking toward his own home. Vampire activity had been low for about a week now, so he was not too worried about his safety. Nevertheless, he was still walking very fast so he could get inside as quickly as possible.
When Xander was about two blocks from home, he heard a noise behind him. Quickly retrieving his wooden cross, he then turned around to see two very buff looking vampires coming toward him. “Back!” He yelled out while holding his cross out in front of him. The two vampire growled, and one of them knocked the cross out of Xander’s hand.
One of the two vampires punched Xander really hard in the stomach causing him to double over in pain. The other vampire went behind Xander and held his arms so that there was no possible way that Xander could get away. He continued to struggle, but it was no use. The vampire that was not holding Xander moved in for the kill. All Xander could do was scream.

Cassandra was enjoying the night air as she neared her hotel. She was about half way there and was in no hurry to shut herself in her room for the rest of the night. She spotted a small park and decided to explore it for a bit. She loved being outside. This was where she felt the most peaceful.
As Cassandra was looking at a patch of night-blooming flowers, her preternatural hearing picked up a scream in the distance. As quick as her legs would carry her, Cassandra ran toward the sound. When she got there, she one vampire holding a teenage boy and another about to put the bite on him. Cassandra sprung into action. Before the vampires knew what was going on, Cassandra gave a hard roundhouse kick to the back of the head of the vampire that was about to bite Xander. That knocked him out. The vampire that was holding Xander let go to face this new threat. As soon as Xander was free, he ran far enough away to get out of the line of fire but close enough to still be able to see what was going on.
“Who are you?” Asked the vampire that was still conscious.
Cassandra let her vampire face emerge. “You don’t want to know, believe me.”
The vampire tried to attack, but was quickly dispatched by Cassandra’s expert moves. Cassandra put him in a hold that made movement impossible. “O.K., it’s time for you to talk to me. Tell me your name.” Asked Cassandra in the same tone that you would talk to a five year old with.
“I’m not telling you anything bitch!”
“Bitch? You have no idea how much I hate being called that.” Cassandra’s hold tightened around the vampire’s neck. “Now, what’s your name?” She asked in a deadly serious voice.
“Robert,” the vampire quickly spat out. He was in obvious pain.
Cassandra tightened her hold around his neck again. “O.K. Robert, tell me who you work for.”
“Spike, I work for Spike.”
Cassandra loosened her hold on the other vampire and got up. About this time, the vampire that she knocked out earlier was getting up. Him and the vampire, Robert, quickly backed away from Cassandra. They knew not to mess with her again. “Tell me, what is your name? We will warn the others not to mess with you.”
Cassandra let her face become human again. “My name is Cassandra.” [ Oh, dammit! Why did I tell him that? Now Spike will know that I’m here. Well, it doesn’t matter. I’ll be gone tomorrow night after dinner with Mike. ] The two vampires then quickly left the area.
Xander watched from a few yards away. He could not believe his eyes. He never saw moves like that before, even from Buffy. [ This is Cassandra? The new vampire that used to hang out with Spike. The one that says she has a soul? ] Xander was afraid, but not enough to leave. He was curious about this woman.
Cassandra walked over to Xander. “Are you all right?” She asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” [ Damn she’s beautiful! She’s also a vampire, stop thinking like that. ] “It’s not like this is the first time this has happened.”
“You’ve been attacked by vampires before?” Cassandra then remembered that she had saw this boy before. “Hey, you’re friends with Buffy, aren’t you?”
Xander did not know what to say. This woman did save his life, and Angel did say that she had a soul. But, she was still a vampire. [ And besides, since when do I trust Angel? ] He decided to be as vague as possible and try to get away from her quickly. “Why do you think I know Buffy?”
Cassandra rolled her eyes, “Oh, I don’t know, maybe because I saw you with her at the Bronze.” She shook her head. “It doesn’t matter really. Do you live near here?” Asked Cassandra.
“Yeah, my house is not far. I’ll go there now.” Xander said while nervously inching away from Cassandra. “Bye.”
As Xander left, Cassandra could not help but laugh. [ I guess I still inspire fear. Even if I was the one to save that boy. ]
