Part One
SUNNYDALE, June 21 2001 (The world has yet to end.)
A Midsummer’s Night Moon…
Walking around the quiet cemetery, Buffy was starting to feel restless. She normally would relish in the fact that the undead were staying underground, but lately her blood has been jazzed for a fight and nothing was out for dusting. It had been a good few weeks for the average Sunnydaler to turn into a crawling creature of the night, something Wesley was proud of. she uttered in her head. Letting a low groan release from her pouting lips, she knew it was time to call it a night.
Heading out of the necropolis, she meanders in thought of her next course of action. It was the first time she stayed in Sunnydale for the summer; her father was out on an excursion so she opted to staying close to the source. Yet, her friends had an altered approach following their first year of college. She sighed. Finally reaching the gate’s she gazed around Sunnydale. She thought she might go to The Den’s End the local hangout place for the college students, but knew it was a dead since the students had gone back to their homes.
She walked a little further, when her senses were finally starting to come back to her. A scuffle was echoing through a dark alley. A smile stretched across Buffy’s face, she smirked. Running at full gear, she raced down the darkened alley, stretching her senses to help gear her up for the fight. Finally turning to her left, she found the battle of the night.
Four vamps were surrounding a very handsome boy. He was backing up against a corner; his electric blue eyes flashed in focus of his surroundings. He placed his feet and prepared himself for a fight. Buffy mused to herself, However, as Buffy looked harder she knew this was no local but a newbie. The closest Vamp raised his hand and knocked a blow so hard to him he flew tumbling backwards and landed on his face; the other’s just laughed.
“Hope I’m not to late for the party,” Buffy purred sarcastically. Three of the four vamps turned around to be greet by the Slayer.
“Keep her busy, she can be desert,” the Fourth vampire said over his shoulder. Buffy shook her head.
“Didn’t you know that Slayer is to rich to eat,” she smiled. Charging at full speed, she high kicked the first vampire in the face, having him land in a thundering thud. The other two just watched in amazement as Buffy raised quickly and staked their fallen friend.
“You’ll pay for that little girl,” the Second Vampire said, “pay dearly.” He reached out his hand and swatted her in the face. Buffy stumbled backwards a bit, but did not fall to the ground. Looking up she gave a sweet smile, the vampire charged at her. Using her speed she flipped herself over the vampire and stabbed him in the back letting him fall into specs of dust.
“Who’s next?” she smiled sweetly. The third Vampire looked stunned, but decided not to take his chance and took off. Buffy felt a twang of disappointment, she would have to dust him another night. Walking up towards the ringleader, he turned around greeting her with a cruel smile.
“Sorry Buff not in the mood,” he spoke, “but don’t worry we’re always watching.”
Buffy startled by this. In her distraction she did not noticed him charging at her. She pulled out her stake, but was shocked to see him take off on the fire escape. He quickly climbed his way up to the top of the building and took off.
“Damn it,” Buffy gave out a frustrated sigh. She turned to face the boy to make sure he did not have any further damages to him. Kneeling before him, she checked to see if he was still breathing.
His eyes fluttered open and took in a sharp breath, gasping air as if he was in shock. Buffy laid a hand on his chest trying to calm his breathing.
“Its ok, your ok,” she spoke softly. The boy finally looked up to see who was helping him.
“I… what…” still gasping for air. Buffy thought fast, she could not indulge the truth,
“I don’t know, I heard something down this way and came to see what was the noise, and here you were.” She paused unsure what to say next. My name is Buffy… Buffy Summers, what’s yours?”
The boy coughed and sat himself up, giving a half smile to the slayer he mustered out his name
“Gabriel…”

The sun filtrated through Buffy’s room as the annoying alarm clock was pulling her from her slumber. Finally reaching one hand over she smashed her alarm clock on snooze. Flipping the covers to the side, she slowly raised her body from the bed. The blaring red lights on her clock said 10:45 am. she thought angrily. Pulling up her feet, her mind drifted back to last night.
There was something odd about those new vampires yet she could not put her finger on it. It was a feeling she felt from inside. Buffy dragged her body off the bed and headed towards her closet.
Last night after the fight Gabriel had passed out again. It was then that she noticed that the vampire sunk some teeth into him. She could not tell if he had been changed but brought him back to the house to make sure he did not. She glanced at her mirror and nearly laughed out loud. Her face had a few dark smudges of dirt on it, as her forearm had a nice cut from last night’s fight.
“Time to take a shower,” she grabbed her towel and headed off to revive her body of life.

Gabriel awoke with wary. He glimpsed around his surroundings. he notion to himself. He looked down to notice that he was in his normal clothings with a blanket covered around him. Kicking the covers off he tried to illustrate last night. Four guys had surprised him from behind but that was all his memory could rouse. He slid his legs to the side and held up his head; it was throbbing in agony. He started to move from the couch when he heard faint steps coming down the stairs. He stood up abruptly in dread he was in jeopardy.
Only a very stunning blonde girl greeted him. Her smile was friendly and her green eyes shined brightly. She stopped a few feet in front of him; he could smell her apple-blossom shampoo. She extended a hand in front of him.
“I am glad to see you are awake,” her voice was strong, but soft and comforting. he thought carefully.
“How… well how did I get here,” a few images of a girl holding him up talking to him were flashing in his mind.
The girl looked down at her shuffling feet and then glanced back up as if she had the facts straight. “Last night I was walking around town, was a nice night. Anyway I heard some noises down the alley and went to down to make sure no one was hurt.”
“Very brave of you,” he said softly.
“Sometimes people do silly things like that,” she smirked. He was surprised that she heard him,
“Anyway there you where lying there, I would of gone to the hospital only… I am not sure why I brought you here,” her voice was filled with her own confusion in this statement. Whatever her reasoning was, he had a feeling he could trust her.
“Well thank you, I don’t… well I don’t remember much from last night. Kinda a blur right now. Maybe its better not to remember,” he said sheepishly. The blonde girl shook her head.
“Gabriel I’d be careful next time going down dark alleys, the streets around Sunnydale look safe but sometimes aren’t.”
Her voice was not a warning, but a demand. he laughed to himself.
“I was lost last night, new in town if you already couldn’t tell,”” he flashed her a smile. “I was very turned… around, I live a few blocks from were the high school is, but couldn’t for the life of me remember how to get there.”
“Well if you would like I can walk you home.”
Gabriel stood there for a second He could get to know her more. Maybe ask her out tonight. There was something about the girl that he was drawn to, her beauty of course was great, but it was the light and fire behind her eyes that he wanted to explore. he smiled towards her.
“Buffy,” he watched her face to tell him he was wrong with the name. However, when she did not say anything he continued, “that would be great.”
