Part Seven

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy flipped herself to her feet and got a good hard kick to Angelus' ribs before he righted himself as well. He retaliated with a punch to her face.

"Sorry to offend you, Babe," Angelus ducked Buffy's next blow, "But we both know that our relationship has little to do with romance." Buffy's next kick hit its mark and Angelus doubled over.

"Not anymore," Buffy growled.

Willow scrambled for the research papers she had dropped. Suddenly, Drusilla gripped the back of her neck and pulled her to her feet.

"We have business to finish, Dearie," Drusilla started to pull Willow away from the battle zone, but a cross-wielding Xander blocked the way.

"Let go of her," Xander demanded.

"My, my, you just have men coming out of the woodwork, don't you?" Drusilla tightened her grip on Willow's neck. "Sorry, you're not invited. Girl talk." Drusilla pulled Willow in the other direction. Xander ran after them.

Spike slowly regained consciousness, his head pounding. He pulled himself to his feet. Spike was still wondering at the new-found feeling and strength in his legs when the door flew open and Willow was thrown down the stairs. Spike quickly leapt to the bottom of the stairs and caught her. Drusilla slammed the door shut behind her and threw the lock.

"Dru?" Spike seemed unsure as to who this frenzied creature was.

"Spike, darling," Drusilla started down the stairs toward him until she noticed Willow cradled in his arms. Drusilla screeched furiously and launched herself at them.

"Dru, baby, calm down," Spike swung Willow behind him and caught Drusilla's arms, "You're ruining our happy reunion."

"What are you doing with her?" Drusilla spit.

"Well, you were spending so much time with our dear old friend Angelus that I didn't think you would miss me." Spike shoved Drusilla away from him. She fell against the stairs and fell hard onto her ass.

"Spike," Drusilla looked up at him, hurt, and then her eyes widened in surprise, "Spike, you can walk."

"Willow's love cured me," Spike shrugged.

Spike's sarcasm reignited Drusilla's fury. She shrieked, but instead of attacking them, she attacked herself by pulling at her hair. Spike watched the spectacle with amusement.

"Aren't you going to stop her?" Willow whispered from behind him. The dynamics of this relationship mystified her.

"No, that's what she wants me to do," Spike crossed his arms and waited, "Don't worry, Ducks, she very rarely hurts herself seriously."

Drusilla's cacophony subsided into a pathetic mewling. Spike finally took pity on her and approached her. He sat down beside her and pulled her into his arms.

"Dru, Dru," Spike cooed soothingly, "I'll explain everything later. You can leave now."

"I'm not leaving you alone with her. Alive." Drusilla stood up.

"I won't let you hurt Willow, Dru," Spike stood up and threw Drusilla over his shoulder. He carried her up the stairs and swung open the door. "Excuse us," Spike shoved a frantic Xander out of the doorway. He set Drusilla down on her feet outside, "Go be with Angelus, Dru. He looks like he could use your help." Spike slammed the door shut and locked it.

"Alone at last," Willow voiced the thought without thinking. She immediately blushed. She was definitely spending too much time with Spike.

"You took the words right out of my mouth," Spike walked over and sat down beside Willow on the cot.

"How are you going to explain this later?" Willow edged away.

"I doubt I'll bother. Dru's changed since Angelus reappeared on the scene. Don't get me wrong, she was always crazy as a loon, but I don't like her much anymore."

"Oh," Willow didn't know what else to say. She could hear Xander pounding on the door. "What did happen to your legs?"

"I'm not sure. It's the strangest thing, but I've suddenly found myself with a soul."

"Oh," Willow's eyes widened.

Spike regarded Willow's guilty look curiously, "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you, Willow?"

"It was my first curse," Willow started to explain, "It was supposed to give Angel his soul back. Sorry."

"No matter, Ducks," Spike shrugged, "At least I got my legs back."

A much more forceful kick to the door joined Xander's useless thumping. Buffy had obviously finished her business with Angelus and Drusilla and the door wouldn't hold off for long.

"It looks like I'm not the only one who'll have to explain things," Spike commented before the door's hinges flew off and the door crumpled.
