Make Me
by T. C. McGonigle

Buffy and the gang belong to Joss, Mutant Enemy, and the WB. All of whome I would like to thank for the opportunity to borrow such great characters. The other new and interesting characters beong to me and come straight from my own imagination (scary thought).

Thanks for reading and hopefully enjoying.

Part One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hi. Willow Rosenburg, right?"

Willow looked up from the computer. She quickly clicked the mouse to change the screen. Not a lot of people would understand exactly why she was researching ritual sacrifices.

"Can I help you?" Willow looked suspiciously a the young woman. She was smiling pleasantly, a large canvas bag slung over her left shoulder.

"Yes. I'm Melinda Quick, Principal Snyder has asked me to teach the computer courses for the rest of the term."

"Oh," extreme dislike washed over Willow. She logged off the computer gathered up her stuff.

"I'm really sorry about what happened to Miss Calendar," Melinda touched Willow's arm, "I don't want to replace her."

"Someone has to," Willow moved away from the desk, "I have to go to the library. Everything you need should be in the desk."

Before Melinda had a chance to say anything else, Willow disappeared out the door.

Spike sat in the dark corner facing the wall. He ignored the disgusting frivolity going on behind him. Angelus was throwing himself a "Welcome Back" party. It was in very poor taste in Spike's opinion.

"Spike, Darling," Drusilla grasped the handles of his wheelchair and spun him around to face her, "Don't you like Angel's party? You like parties?"

"There's no reason to celebrate anything, Dru," Spike glared at the reveling vampires, "The Slayer is alive and still kicking our collective asses."

"Oh, Spike, tonight isn't about that nasty girl and her nasty friends. It's about our being a big, happy family again. Daddy's home. All together. Forever and ever," Drusilla spun around the room and into the arms of Angelus.

"Leave Spike in his corner, Dru," Angelus grinned evilly, "He can't dance anyway."

"Too bad whatever took your soul back took your brain with it," Spike started to wheel himself away, but Angelus stepped in front of him. He grinned down at Spike.

"My brain is just fine," Angelus took Drusilla's hand and pulled her close to him, "And I have the perfect plan to rid ourselves of my beloved and her gang of chumps."

"Angel, bad boy, you didn't say anything about a plan before," Drusilla squealed and flung her arms around him.

"It was a surprise."

"Really? Care to enlighten us on it, Angel?" Spike backed his chair up a bit. He hated the damn thing, almost as much as he hated the new and improved Angelus.

"As you know, there's an opening in the library circle, due to the untimely death of Miss Calendar," Angelus' face shifted to his vampiric visage, "And since I was the cause of it, I thought it only appropriate that I fill it."

"Hello," Melinda walked into the library. Buffy, Giles, Willow, and Xander immediately stopped their conversation. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but I found this. It must be yours, Willow."

Willow took the yellow disk from Melinda and sat back down. She had no idea where it had come from, but odds were it had belonged to Miss Calendar and Willow didn't want HER touching it.

"Rupert Giles, the librarian," Giles politely stepped in and offered his hand.

"Melinda Quick," Melinda took Giles' hand, "The new computer science teacher." Giles snatched his hand back.

"I have to go to my office," Giles absently picked up his jacket and walked into the office. He slammed the door.

"Did I say something wrong?" Melinda frowned.

"No," Buffy stood up, "He and Miss Calendar were. . . close."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Melinda looked stricken, "I'll leave then. I didn't realize. . . I didn't know. . . "

"Of course you didn't," Xander walked up to the new teacher. She was pretty, hopefully not a bug, and he needed a passing grade in computers, "And there is absolutely no reason for you to leave."

"Thank you. . ."

"Xander Harris and this is Buffy Summers."

"It's nice to meet you. I didn't think that I would get the chance to meet any students tonight. Are you in a school club?"

"Yes," Buffy answered quickly.

"No," Xander said at the same time.

"We've formed an after school study group. It's not school sanctioned, but Giles helps us," Willow explained, "I'm going to go check on him."

Willow left Buffy and Xander with the intruder, relying on their good judgment in getting rid of her. Miss Quick made Willow uncomfortable. Maybe if she had been older, or a man, it would have been different. But Miss Quick was so much like Miss Calendar that it hurt. And if Willow found the new teacher's arrival painful then Giles. . . .

His head rested on his desk when she walked in without knocking. Willow didn't say a work, she just sat down and opened her books. Giles would say something if he wanted to, and until then she would just be there for him.

Melinda sat at Jenny Calendar's desk and watched her students file into class. They studied her curiously and she returned their interest casually. She didn't need to know them very well, just enough to make her the best teacher ever. Melinda glanced at the clock. The bell was about to ring and no Willow Rosenburg. An unpleasant anomaly, Willow Rosenburg was never absent.

"Miss Quick?" Buffy poked her head through the door, "Giles asked me to give you this. He needs to borrow Willow this morning for some library research thing."

Buffy held out the slip of paper, but before Melinda could get to it, Principal Snyder snapped it up. "What is this?" he demanded, "Skipping class again, Miss Summers?"

"No," Buffy denied a shade too quickly, evoking raised eyebrows from Snyder, "I'm on my way."

"Buffy had to deliver this note to me, Principal Snyder," Melinda smiled at the small piggy man. In a way he reminded her of Hitler, a man also easily persuaded. "Please don't punish her on my account. I'm afraid that I don't quite know the procedures here."

"The procedures here include allowing the students to get to class on time with as few pitstops as possible. In Miss Summers case. . ."

"Then we shouldn't keep her," Melinda waved Buffy away. Buffy beat a hasty retreat, she knew when not to ask twice. "I'll be sure to keep a close eye on Buffy from now on. Thank you for warning me, she seemed like such a sweet girl."

"It's one of my many duties as a principal. To make sure the trouble makers are labeled."

Spike was alone. Drusilla was still sleeping and Angelus, well, Spike didn't care where he was. He had forgotten what an obnoxious jerk his sire had been before becoming soul laden.

"Good evening, Spike," Angelus dropped down from the rafters in front of him, "Where's our lovely Drusilla?"

Spike didn't bother answering. If it weren't for the damn chair, he would have just slammed Angelus' grinning facade into the wall and be done with it.

"Cat got your tongue?" Angelus kicked Spike's wheelchair back, "Or is it just crippled like the rest of you?"

"Angel," Drusilla entered the room. She rushed to Spike's side, "Don't be mean to Spike. We're a happy family, remember? Drusilla caressed Spike's face and petted his hair. "Are you all right, Darling?"

"Fine, Dru," Spike flinched from Drusilla's touch. It wasn't the same now. She didn't need him.

"Leave him be, Dru," Angelus scowled, "I think it's time I let you in on my plan. Buffy isn't going to know what hit her. It'll probably be me."

"Tell us, Angel! Tell us!" Drusilla clapped her hands and ran to him.

"I think it would be best if I did the talking," Melinda stepped out of the shadows, "You don't mind, do you, Angel?"
