When Buffy and Angel got into the cafeteria, it seemed to go silent by the sight of them, arm in arm. Cordielia gawked at them, Doyle looked like he was about to pass out, Willow was grinning like a mad woman, and Darla and Harmoney looked like their eyes could burn a hole in her,"Maybe this was a bad idea. Everyone probably already knows."
"I don't think that's what they're staring at."Angel replied glancing at their arms.
"Oh. I should go. This was a bad idea anyways. Look at the way everyone's staring at us. We're not even dating yet."Buffy whispered, glancing up at Angel to see if he caught her last word.
"Yet?"He questioned. Yep, he caught it.
"Well, never mind. I'm going to turn around and--"
"No. I don't care what they think. Besides, it'll make it easier when we start dating."Buffy giggled silently. He either was mocking her or was serious, play the odds and he's the mock man.
Cordielia stomped up to them and snatched Angel away from Buffy,"What the hell are you doing with...that?"She spat.
"Getting lunch."Angel replied cooly.
"Were you planning on bringing a geek to my table or were you going to join her? Did you happen to forget whos boyfriend you are? What group you're in? Your status in this school? Most popular boy dating most popular girl."
"We were going to take it back to the room. Buffy isn't feeling well and I thought I'd keep her company."
"So you two are on a first name bases. Or real name bases. You call her 'Buffy' and she calls you 'Angel' now right?"
"Yes. We're going to be living with each other now so I thought I'd make friends."
"Well, unmake friends or I will end you in this school." Cordielia threatened.
"Did you forget how you got so popular in the first place? Me. You were the ugly, rich, braces havign new girl and I liked you. That's how you made so many friends. Break up with me. See if I care."Angel said a little bit too loudly. Everyone was staring at them now.
"Lower your voice Angel."
"No. You know what Cor? It's over! We're through! I'm so sick of you thinking that you own me. It makes me nautious everytime I hear your voice. You don't run anything around here. I do. See how far you get without me." He walked back over to Buffy and left Cordielia staring after them open mouthed like a fish,"Sorry about that."
"It's okay. Actually, I have to go talk to someone."Buffy nodded toward Doyle and looked back at him.
"What do you want for lunch? I'll buy it."
"Surprise me."She walked away from him and over to Doyle,"Hi. You're probably wondering what's going on."
"A little bit."
"Yeah. We all are."Xander commented,"First you leave Connor for Doyle and now you leave both of them for him."Buffy cringed at Connor's name and took a deep breath.
"Can I talk to you out in the hallway? I don't want to cause a scene like they did."They all heard Cordielia yell something at Harmoney and then more yells from that table.
"Will there be reason for a scene? And no. If it can be explained, there won't be reason for a scene."
"okay. I'm sorry Doyle, I want to break up."
"What?!? Do you see my face. Connor did this to me and I took it for you. For you Buffy! What the hell?!? You're leaving me for him?!?"
"No. Doyle, I wanted to avoid this. You're shouting and I don't like it."
"I don't give a damn what you like right now Buffy! Fine. You want to break up with me for that. Just fine."
"Doyle. I'm sorry. I have to go." Buffy left the cafeteria just as Angel finished getting their food. He dropped it all and ran after her.

Over at the 'popular' table:
"Hey guys."Cordy greeted everyone, coming off of her rage.
"Did he just break up with you?"Harmoney asked.
"Are you so stupid that you didn't hear him shouting? God, Harmoney!"
"Don't call me stupid again!"Harmoney demanded.
"Why not? It's what you really are!"
"You know, you were never really popular? Yeah. We all just liked you because you were Angel's girlfriend." Darla said,"Now that you're not, we don't have to pretend anymore so you can leave. No one wants you here."
"Darla, shut up."
"Hey. Don't tell my girlfriend to shut up."Gunn yelled.
"I'm leaving. Anyone who is smart and wants to stay at this rank ,will follow."She walked away and no one followed her. She was walking toward Angel when she saw him drop the things he was holding and ran after Buffy,"Bastard."
