They parted, and he said, "Actually, that was what I was going to say." "Mom? You home?" Buffy walked into her house almost cautiously when she got home from school that day. Joyce Summers quickly appeared down the hallway.
"Buffy! Good, I was beginning to think you'd never get home. The strangest thing happened last night and this morning."
Buffy cringed. "What?"
"My hearing went out. It was just real sudden, and then it came back this morning. It was so strange." She looked at Buffy suspiciously. "Did you come in last night? I didn't hear you, but then, I couldn't hear anything."
"Yeah, mom, I did. Don't worry."
Buffy left her mom and headed up the stairs to her room. Maybe Giles did have something. Maybe every cloud does have a silver lining.
