When Spike awoke, he glanced at Buffy. Her skin was no longer frozen and her lips were their usual pink. Carefully he slipped from her grasp and went downstairs to find something to eat.

A little while later, Dawn came down. “Morning Spike,” she said.

“Morning Nibblet,” he said, still rummaging through the fridge.

Dawn smiled. “Spike, move,” she said, pushing him out of the way.

Spike watched as Dawn dug out a few packets of blood. “Thanks,” he said.

“I make Buffy keep them in case of an emergency,” she said, sitting at the counter.

“She looks better,” Spike said, heating up his blood.

“Where was she?” Dawn asked.

“My place. She said so was coming to check on me and got stuck. If feel real bad too,” Spike said, sighing.

“It’s not your fault,” Dawn said. “It was an accident.”

“She should’ve stayed home in her warm comfy bed,” Spike said, draining his blood.

Dawn frowned. “Spike, she was worried about you. You can’t hold that against her.”

“I’m not,” Spike said, as he rinsed his cup.

“You’re an idiot. You know that?” Dawn said, hands on her hips.

Spike looked at her. “Why?”

“Because Buffy’s so in love with you she can’t think straight,” Dawn said. “You guys are just blind.”

“Hey! She knows I love her,” Spike said, defensively.

“Yeah but you don’t see the love in her eyes and she’s scared so she’s not gunna admit to it,” Dawn said, looking out the window. “We’re gunna be stuck here for a while.”

“That’s a bad thing?” Spike asked.

Dawn shrugged. “Depends on when you and Buffy will be at it.”

Spike raised an eyebrow. “You think whatever you want Nibblet,” he said, going upstairs.

Spike looked at Buffy and smiled as she snuggled deeper into the covers. He went over and carefully sat next to her.

Buffy opened her eyes and smiled at her. “Hi,” she said.

“How are you feeling?” Spike asked.

“I’m not as cold as I was. So improvement,” she said, sitting up.

“I’m glad,” Spike said, smiling. “You scared me.”

“Hey you scared me first,” Buffy teased.

“I didn’t know you were gunna be looking for me. I was going to your house to check on you and Dawn,” he said, his eyes downcast.

Buffy frowned. “Spike, it’s not your fault. Stop blaming yourself for every little thing that happens,’’ she said, gently.

“Buffy, a lot of times things are my fault,” Spike said, softly.

“Like what things?” Buffy asked.

“Like the reason you jumped. If I had kept my promise to keep Dawn safe, you wouldn’t have died. If that didn’t happen, Red wouldn’t have pulled you out of heaven,” he said.

Buffy moved so she could see his eyes. “Spike, that was not your fault. I promise you. Things happen. You can’t blame yourself for everything that happens to me,” she said, running her hands over his face.

“Buffy, I promised my self I would keep you safe and I haven’t been doing a good job. You almost froze to death,” he said.

“Because I was worried about you!” Buffy cried.

“Exactly my point,” Spike said.

Buffy leaned in and kissed him. “You’re gunna blame yourself for me being cold cuz I was worried about you?”

“Yeah,” Spike said, softly.

“No you aren’t. I’m sitting here in front of you and I’m fine,” she said. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“Buffy,” Spike sighed.

Buffy pulled Spike’s lips down to hers. “Shut up,” she whispered, pulling him on top of her.

A few hours later, Spike and Buffy came downstairs and Dawn smiled at him.

“It’s not what you think Nibblet,” Spike said.

“Sure,” Dawn said, smiling still.

Buffy looked up at Spike then at
Dawn. “What’s going on?” She asked.

“Her idea,” Spike said, going to the kitchen.

“Dawn,” Buffy said, glaring at her sister.

“You love him,” her sister said.

“I do?” Buffy asked.

“Yep. Just tell him and get it over with,” she said. Buffy looked toward the kitchen and Dawn rolled her eyes. “Just go.”

Buffy went into the kitchen and pressed her lips against Spike’s.

“What was that for?” Spike asked, putting his arms around her waist.

“Because I love you,” Buffy said, shyly.

“I love you too,” Spike said, kissing her again.

Dawn smiled from the hallway. “Finally,” she whispered to herself.
