Buffy jerked herself out of Merric's grasp. "You are not Merric!" She yelled. Merric turned to her his face distorting.
"Of course I am Buffy." He told her in Merric's voice. His face was gone. It was replaced with a twisting pool of black liquid.
Buffy screamed again. Angel was up at the sound of it with his game face on. He was at her side. The old man turned into a pool of blackness and moved its way across the floor. It reached Merric and flowed upwards disappearing in him.
"You have ruined my plans." It paused for a shaky breath that sounded like he was drowning. "But you will no get out alive." He rasped.
His hand shot out for Buffy. It was covered in the blackness. Angel jumped in front of it. The thing hit Angel's chest and Angel roared. He stumbled backwards into Buffy. Still he kept himself between her and the thing.
"You cna't stop us." Buffy told him defiantly.
The thing laughed. "I already have."
Giles fought off the urge to faint. He steeled himself against the pain.
"Listen to me what ever you are." He demanded it sternly. "We have seen through you little charde. Your tricks did not work. You are defeated. Go back to the dark corners from which you came." Giles bellowed.
Willow and Xander stood beside him looking equally defialt. A curious sound chorused in with the screeching. The thing shifted and advanced on them.
This isn't producing the results I had hoped, Giles thought.
Buffy stared at the thing that had once looked like her watcher.
"What do you mean by that?" She demanded. The reply was stopped as Angel turned to her growling. She looked at him still in his vampire state. His teeth gleamed and his eyes held no emotion towards her. Buffy's heart started.
"Angel?" She asked in a small voice.
He snarled and lept at her. She hit the floor forcing the air out of her lungs. He was on top of her, his claws biting into her wrists. Buffy struggled against him with no avail. The blood lust was evident in his eyes,the demon in him taking full control in the madness of hunger. The blood from her wrists only added to his craze. He beard his fangs at her once more then moved for her neak in a swift movement. Buffy raised her knee and hit him in the shin. She threw him off of her in his quick moment of pain. Buffy punched him before he lept at her again.
This time she was the one who pinned him down. He was growling and using all of his strength to get to her. She held him down knowing what to do. Releasing one of her hands she ripped off his shirt. She saw the stain of the black stuff on his skin. Buffy bunched up the shirt and hurridly wiped the stuff off. The more she wiped off the less he struggled. Finally his skin was clean and he lie there on the floor. His face melted into his human one. Buffy warily let him go and tossed the rag aside. He stared up at her his face full of remorse adn shame. She thought he looked like he would burst out into tears. She forgave him, her eyes and face said as much.
The thing advanced on them. She looked over to it.
"You are not going to beat us. You will never beat us" She said venemhently, holding onto Angel.
"Our love is too strong for your evil to touch us." Angel told it sitting up.
The thing stopped advancing. It looked trapped.
The thing was moving towards Giles and the two teenagers. Giles stood his ground.
"There is no way you are getting Willow or Xander." He growled. It stood at bay. Willow and Xander came out from behind Giles and stood beside him.
"And there is no way your getting Giles." Willow said holding onto the courage she felt at that moment.
"Your not getting any of us." Xander joined in.
The whining grew lounder.
