Buffy and the gang do not belong to me. I make no money from this.

Part Five
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The slayerettes walked down the path that was laid out for them. They all kept a look out for Buffy and saw no trace of her. They were making considerable time Giles thought. That of course was the plan. The faster they finished the maze, the fast it was all over. If it was supposed the end at all.
Just as he thought that the end of the hallway stopped. A large door loomed before them. It was wooden and looked like it belonged in front of a castle. It was engraved with pictures of angels fighting demons. Niether seemed to the wining.
Willow outstretched her hand and moved it over the surface.
"So this is it?" Xander asked.
"It would appear so." Giles said examining the door for a latch of any sort. He found none.
"We need to go in." Willow told them.
As the words left her lips the door cracked open. The guys turned to her. She gaped.
"Ask and yea shall receive?" She searched.
Angel pushed the door open and walked in. Followed by Giles and Xander, who took Willow's hand. The room was bright in the center, brighter than it had been in the passage way. Around the center it got darker and darker. Untill the stacks disipeared in absolute darkness. The room was obviously the center to what ever this place was. Everything revolved around the bright spot. Angel walked further into the room glancing back towards the others.
The stacks stopped in the middle of the room, like a clearing in the woods. As Angel drew closer he saw there was a desk dead center in the clearing. An overly large chair sat in front of it. A small older man was sitting behind the desk. Thick leather bound books filled the desk. The old man glanced up and looked at Angel.
"Ah, there you all are. I'll be with you in just a moment." He told them as if they had shown up for an appoitment.
Angel's brow furrowed. Then he heard the shifting of leather. A head popped up over the chair.
"Angel!" Buffy yelled jumping to her feet in the chair.
Angel ran to her and lifted her up in his arms. He held her so tightly that it was near impossible to breath. She returned it just as hard. She didn't care. His head rested on hers and he was rocking her back and forth. Her feet didn't quite meet the ground. Finally Angel decided that it was time to put her down or he was satisfied that she wouldn't disappear. Buffy's feet touched the ground and she could breath again. She took one breath and jumped back inot his arms kissing him.
"All right enough!" Xander practically shouted.
Buffy and Angel disentangled themselves. Angel looked a little embarrassed. Buffy looked over to Xander and saw the rest of them. Smiles all over again. She bulldozed into Giles and grabbed Willow. Xander looked out of place. Buffy stretched her neak and pecked him on the check. He beemed. Then she lashed out with a hand and knocked him slightly on the head.
"Hey." He yelped surprised. Angel laughed.
Buffy looked back to the old man and saw him writing in her book. She rolled her eyes.
"That does not count." She said sternly. He didn't pay any attention to her.
"What doesn't count?" Giles asked.
Buffy pointed to the old man. "That guy said I'm dead. Which I do remember doing, dying. So that means you guys are too. Sorry. Any way he say's we're in limbo and are fates are going to be decided." She finished.
"And that book is." Giles started.
"My sins. Yes." Buffy said.
He closed it. "Well it was just for our records anyway. I've already made up my decision. You are to pass on to heaven." He told her.
"Good job Buffy." Willow commended her as if she had gotten an A on a test.
"Way to go Buff." Xander agreed. Buffy looked non plussed falling beside Angel.
Xander had wandered over to the desk and chose one of the books. He opened it on a random page. "Melissa Devon age siteen years, five months, two weeks, and four days. 2:39, disobeyed her parents." The old man smacked Xander's hand. He quickly with drew it.
"Those are confidential." He told Xander. "Why don't all of you wait in the lobby." He gestured with his hands. "It's that way. You can't miss it." He turned to Buffy. "You can move on now." He told her solemnly. Buffy moved closer to Angel, who put a hand around her waist. She made no effort to move. She had just found Angel, all of them. She wasnt' ready to leave them. Angel wasn't about to let her go either.
"You are supposed to move on." He told her. She shook her head. He sighed. "Perhaps I can make this easier on you." He said reluctantly. He went back to the desk.
"And how would you do that?" She asked.
He pointed across the room. Buffy's eyes followed to where he was pointing. Oh God...Luckily she was lent up against Angel. If she wasn't she would have fell to the floor. Her face went pale and her eyes grew wide. Her mouth hit the floor. The slayeretts looked at her.
"Buffy what is it?" Willow asked her concerned.
Buffy didn't answer she just stared at the figure across the room. It was unmistakable. The trench coat. The dark rimmed hat. The white beard and mustache with the touch of gray. And that damn white lacy handkerchief. It was Merric.
