Episode 4 (148) - Seduction
Scene 1
{We see Xander and Dawn enter the house followed by Buffy. She is walking a little slowly and there are several bandages across her stomach.}
Xander-Do you need us to help you?
Buffy-I'm fine...a little sore maybe...but I'm fine.
Dawn-You sure?
Buffy-Yes. I just want to sit down...and not sleep for a while.
Xander-Sounds like you have a plan.
Dawn-Do you want anything to eat?
Buffy-I wouldn't mind that. Hospital food isn't exactly the best. Anything but that would be great right now.
Xander-I know. I hear that their Jell-O isn't so bad.
{Xander smiles as he shuts the door behind of Buffy. Dawn enters the kitchen.}
Buffy-Uh...hospital food is hospital food to me. It all equals gross.
Dawn-You want me to make you anything special?
Buffy-Can I just have a peanut butter sandwich?
Dawn-Is that all?
Buffy-Yeah. I'm not really hungry. Just make sure the peanut butter is crunchy not creamy.
Dawn-Okay.
{Buffy sits down on the couch and Xander sits beside her.}
Xander-This brings back memories.
Buffy-What does?
Xander-The peanut butter thing.
Buffy-Okay...
Xander-Remember the time that we had the flu at the same time? You, Willow, and me?
Buffy-Yep.
Xander-Well you ate crunchy peanut butter sandwiches then too.
Buffy-And I remember you ate all of those cheesy puff things.
Xander-Good times.
Buffy-You even accused my mom of hiding some in the pantry.
Xander-She was!
{Dawn enters the living room and hands Buffy her sandwich.}
Dawn-Here ya go.
Buffy-Thanks.
{She take it from Dawn and then takes a small bite.}
Scene 2
{There is a man walking down the street. He looks like he's in his early twenties. It is very dark and he looks nervous. Suddenly a woman comes up to him.}
Man-Do I know you?
Woman-Probably not...but...I'm looking for some fun.
Man-There are plenty of clubs around, why don't you try one of those?
Woman-Because I don't want that kind of fun...not now. I want you.
Man-Me?
Woman-Yes.
Man-You're starting to cross the line. Don't come near me and I won't call the police.
Woman-I don't think the police can do anything about it.
{The woman walks up very close to the man and grabs him. He tries to move but is frozen in place. She then kisses him roughly on the lips. She then starts to laugh. She pulls out a knife from her jacket and slits his throat. Camera fades out.}
Opening Credits
Scene 4
{We are at a college campus and we see someone with red hair walking around. As the camera gets closer, we realize that it is Willow. She sits down on a bench, takes out a book, and begins reading. Then we see Kennedy walk over to her and sit down.}
Kennedy-Hey. Is that a good book? It looks pretty boring. Then again, most books are.
{Willow looks up and smiles.}
Willow-Not all books are boring, but I have to admit that this one is.
Kennedy-Ah. It's a text book.
Willow-Yeah. I have a huge midterm exam in this one class...I hate my professor so much. He is...I don't know. I just don't like him. You know?
Kennedy-Yeah. I never like any of my teachers either.
Willow-So what are you doing on campus? I thought you weren't supposed to be here.
Kennedy-I'm not, but who's going to realize I'm not a student and send me packing?
Willow-Good point.
Kennedy-So, should I go and let you finish studying?
Willow-No, it's okay. I need a break anyway.
Kennedy-Something's wrong.
Willow-Wrong? Wrong with who?
Kennedy-Wrong with you, silly.
Willow-Oh. What kind of wrong?
Kennedy-You tell me. I know you more than you think and I can tell you're a little upset about something. Does it have anything to do with missing Buffy?
Willow-Um...
Kennedy-I hit the jackpot, didn't I?
Willow-Yeah. I miss her and Xander and Dawn so much. I knew I would miss them...but...I just didn't realize I would miss them this much.
Kennedy-Then go visit them.
Willow-Visit them? I have so many midterms and stuff to do...plus Rome is kinda far away.
Kennedy-So? You can just take your classes over next semester or something. You're like wicked smart. You'd finish in like a week.
Willow-You really think I should drop my classes?
Kennedy-If you want to...I was just making suggestion
Willow-No, I...want to but...
Kennedy-But?
Willow-I don't know. Do you think they would want to see me?
{Kennedy rolls her eyes.}
Kennedy-Come on, Red! I can't believe you even asked me that question. Of course they want to see you.
Willow-I guess you're right. I should pay them a visit.
Kennedy-Yes, you should.
Willow-You wanna come with?
Kennedy-I think I'll pass on that one.
Willow-Why?
Kennedy-They're your friend and well...I'd just get in the way. Plus I don't really want to have to see Buffy again.
Willow-Oh.
Kennedy-No offense, I know she's your best friend and all, but...
Willow-She's bossy?
Kennedy-I was going to say she has a huge stick up her ass, but you were kinda close.
Willow-I understand.
Kennedy-So, you're gonna take my advice and go visit them, right?
Willow-Yep. I just said so, didn't I?
Kennedy-Yeah, I was just making sure.
Willow-Okay. Well, I'm going to go talk to my professors.
Kennedy-And tell them what exactly?
Willow-That it's a family emergency. That my...cousin Buffy is in Rome and is very sick. I got a phone call from her mother saying that she wants to see me.
Kennedy-Oh, that's good.
Willow-It's all I got.
Kennedy-It's better than the truth.
Willow-I guess so. I'll talk to you later. You sure you don't want to come?
Kennedy-Yeah. Just remember to come back...you are just visiting them, right?
Willow-Oh, yeah. I don't plan to move in with them or anything.
Kennedy-Good. I'll be waiting for you.
Willow-Okay. I'll call you once I get to Rome.
Kennedy-You better.
Willow-See you later.
{Willow gets up and begins to walk away. Kennedy watches her.}
Kennedy-Hey Red.
{Willow turns around.}
Willow-What?
Kennedy-I think you're doing the right thing.
Scene 5
{Buffy is lying on the couch with the tv turned on. Dawn is sitting and the far end of the couch, near Buffy's feet, and Xander is sitting on the chair to the right of the couch.}
Dawn-Wait...so what did they say happened? I don't speak Italian.
Buffy-Me neither. I think it's something about...a dead guy. His throat was slit or something.
Xander-Yeah. Let me see the remote.
Buffy-Why?
Xander-Just hand it to me.
Dawn-Okay.
(Dawn passes the remote to Buffy who then passes it to Xander. He presses a few buttons and then subtitles, in English, appear on the tv screen.}
Xander-Now we'll have a better idea of what they're talking about.
Dawn-He's good.
Buffy-Yeah. I forgot you can do that. It's been so long since I actually sat down and watched tv without slaying getting in the way.
Dawn-It's probably left over from his days as a soldier boy.
Buffy-Oh yeah.
Xander-What?
Dawn-Sorry. It's just that everything...well...smart that know or something it's usually because it's from your memory from being a soldier.
Xander-Since when does putting captions on a tv become a military strength?
Buffy-It's not. We were just making with the funny. Or trying anyway.
Xander-Okay, funny. Ha ha, I get it.
Dawn-Hmm....
Buffy-Hmm?
Dawn-Hmm...
Buffy-You okay?
Dawn-I'm just reading the subtitles. A man's body was found last night in an alley. His throat had been slit.
Buffy-Hey, I got that right. Go Buffy. Go Buffy.
Xander-This really isn't the time for that.
Buffy-Oh, right. So, you think a demon did it?
Dawn-Maybe.
Buffy-I wouldn't really doubt it much considering all of the demony things that have been happening lately.
Dawn-But if we start researching, what do we look for? A demon that likes to slit throats?
Xander-She made her point.
Buffy-I guess she did. Maybe we should wait to see if another body is found. If a demon's behind it, they're will probably be another death tonight.
Xander-Maybe Buffy should patrol.
Buffy-Okay, but I don't really know where to go. I'm new in Rome.
Dawn-Just walk around dark alleys or something.
Buffy-What if I get lost?
Dawn-You won't get lost. Just pay close attention to your surroundings.
Buffy-Whatever. I'll patrol tonight and see if I can spot us a demon. I might even get my hands on a few vampires. I'm sure Sunnydale isn't the only city where they are.
Dawn-Have fun.
Buffy-Oh. I'll have tons of fun. Even buckets full.
Xander-You using sarcasm?
Buffy-No. It'll be...interesting to go patrolling. I haven't been in a while. Guess it's back to the old routine.
Scene 6
{Joyce and Andrew are talking to the woman we saw kill the man in the alley earlier.}
Joyce-I hear you do some nice work.
Woman-I have been told that I am pretty...resourceful.
Joyce-Yes. There was a man found dead in an alley this morning. Did you have something to do with that?
Woman-I did. That one was so fun. As soon as I laid my hands on him, I could see the fear in his eyes. He had never been touched by a woman before.
Joyce-Oh.
Woman-What is this you want me to do to the Slayer?
Joyce-I don't want you to do anything to her specifically...I want you to just keep doing what you're doing. When she figures out what is going, and she will, she'll probably come after you. That's when you try to kill her before she can get a chance to kill you.
Woman-So this Slayer is a girl?
Joyce-Of course. You've never heard of a Slayer before?
Woman-No. So, you want me to seduce this girl?
Joyce-Not exactly. You have paralyzing powers, don't you?
Woman-I do.
Joyce-Then use those.
Woman-I've never used them on a female before.
Joyce-Well, it'll probably work on both sexes. You get my plan?
Woman-I think I understand. What about that one?
Joyce-What one?
{The woman points to Andrew.}
Woman-Him. Can I kill him?
Andrew-Me? Why would you want to kill me?
{Andrew thinks for a moment.}
Andrew-Oh. I'm male and you kill males.
Woman-That I do. So, can I have him?
Joyce-I'm not sure.
Woman-He can't possibly be helping you.
Joyce-Well...he...you're right.
Andrew-No! She's not right. I help all the time. Look, Buffy's mom, you can't let this demon girl thing kill me.
Joyce-I can do what I wish to do.
Woman-Can I kill him?
Joyce-We'll see.
{The woman smiles, a look of satisfaction on her face.}
Scene 7
{Buffy is in her room with a black bag open on her bed. She places stakes, crosses, holy water, a cross bow, and a small sword inside. Dawn comes up beside of her.}
Dawn-All this for one patrol?
Buffy-Yeah. I want to prepared. We have no idea what we're up against right now.
Dawn-Well, hopefully we will know when you come back.
Buffy-Hopefully we will.
Dawn-You sure you don't want me or Xander along?
Buffy-I'll be fine. It's been a while since I've patrolled alone. I kinda miss it.
Dawn-You miss patrolling alone?
Buffy-Well, sort of. It's hard to explain.
Dawn-Is it one of those Slayer things?
Buffy-Pretty much.
Dawn-Say no more.
{Buffy smiles.}
Buffy-I'm off to patrol. Wish me demons.
Dawn-I wish you demons.
Buffy-I wasn't being literal.
Dawn-I know.
{Dawn smiles. Buffy takes her bag and leaves the room with Dawn. Camera fades out.}
Scene 8
{Buffy is walking alone in an alley, her patrolling bag on her shoulder. She is walking slowly and ever so often glances over her shoulder to make sure nothing is following her. After a few minutes she sighs and stops walking.}
Buffy-This is useless. There aren't any vampires demons out here. Maybe I should just head back home.
{Buffy turns around and exits the alley. She walks along a sidewalk and comes near a cemetery.}
Buffy-Maybe I should check here.
{Buffy walks over to the cemetery and begins to investigate. One of the graves has been disturbed and Buffy looks around trying to find the vampire that had come out of it. When she doesn't see one, she continues to walk further and further into the cemetery. Suddenly a male vampire comes up behind of her and grabs her by the shoulders. Buffy pulls away and quickly turns around. She grabs a stake from her bag and attempts to stake the vampire. He blocks the stake and tries to kick Buffy. Buffy blocks his kick and punches him hard in the face. The vampire falls backwards and trips over a tombstone. Buffy rushes over to him and drives the stake through his heart. The vampire turns to dust as Buffy stands up.}
Buffy-A vampire but no evil demon thing that supposedly killed that guy last night. Guess I'll have to keep on looking.
Scene 9
{Xander and Dawn are sitting on the couch, one at each end.}
Dawn-You think Buffy's gonna be okay?
Xander-She has been patrolling before, Dawn.
Dawn-I know. It's just that...I don't know. She seemed like she didn't feel like going or something. It has been a while since she's gone patrolling on her own. She's had the potentials with her or Faith or Spike or someone.
Xander-She's still got it. I don't really think you can just forget about being the Slayer.
Dawn-Yeah. It's like riding a bicycle, right?
Xander-I guess. I've never really been a Slayer before though, so I'm not sure.
Dawn-I wish she took us with her. I only got to patrol like one time. It's like she doesn't think I'm ready, but when she was my age, she was all out Slayer girl.
Xander-She knows you're ready and I think that's what bothers her. She's seeing how you're growing up and I just think she worries about you.
Dawn-Yeah. It's 'cause she loves me...
Xander-She does.
Dawn-I know. Do you think I'll have to go to school?
Xander-You really don't mess around when it comes to changing the subject, do you?
Dawn-Nope. Do you think I'll have to though?
Xander-Probably. You never finished your sophomore year.
Dawn-What about home schooling?
Xander-Do you really think that Buffy or I could home school you?
Dawn-Okay bad idea...
Xander-It is still during the summer. We'll probably enroll you sometime in the late summer or early fall.
Dawn-Don't they go to school like all year round here or something?
Xander-I'm not sure.
Dawn-The point is that I'm going to school.
Xander-Yeah...pretty much. But hey, school's not so bad. You make friends and learn stuff.
Dawn-Easy for you to say. You had Buffy and Willow and Giles. I will have to make total new friends that speak an entire different language than I do.
Xander-I'm sure they'll be someone who will know enough English to teach you Italian.
Dawn-I guess...
Xander-Should we change the subject again?
Dawn-Yes please.
Xander-I wonder how Willow's doing.
Dawn-Yeah. Buffy talked on the phone with her a few days ago. She seemed fine. She's enjoying college and she's still with Kennedy.
Xander-Kennedy?
Dawn-Yeah. I don't think Kennedy was in college with her, but they shared an apartment or something nearby. I don't know all the details. I kinda miss her.
Xander-Me too. We need a red head.
Dawn-What do you mean?
Xander-Well, we have Buffy, and she's blonde; we have you, and you're a brunette; and there's me, another brunette. We gotta have a red in the mix.
{Dawn smiles.}
Dawn-You think?
Xander-Oh, I know. Plus it wouldn't be so bad to have a witch with us again.
Dawn-Yeah. I can do a few spells, but I'm nothing compared to Willow.
Xander-I don't think anyone can compare to her...as far as the magic business goes.
Dawn-You hungry?
Xander-Changing it again, I see.
Dawn-You bet. I'm gonna eat something. Wanna come with?
Xander-Yep. I'm starved myself.
{The get up and walk into the kitchen.}
Scene 10
{Joyce, Andrew, and that Woman are in the basement.}
Joyce-I think that it is time.
Woman-Time for what exactly?
Joyce-Time for you to meet this Slayer I've been telling you about.
Woman-Oh?
Joyce-She's patrolling in the cemetery. Things are kind of quiet. I think she needs something to spice it up a little. Do you agree, Andrew?
Andrew-Uh, yeah.
Joyce-By the way, I don't think I ever got a name.
Woman-My name?
Joyce-Yes. I do not think you told me.
Woman-Oh, right. It's Rosaline.
Andrew-Rosaline. Wasn't she the girl that Romeo was in love with, or thought he was in love with, before he met Juliet?
Rosaline-Why yes, I think she was. Do you think the name fits me?
Andrew-I do. It's kinda like your getting revenge for what he did to you or something by killing every man.
Rosaline-I never thought of it like that before.
Joyce-Are you two finished bonding or should I leave you alone?
Rosaline-Oh, sorry. I am off to the cemetery to find me a Slayer.
Joyce-I do not want you to kill her yet.
Rosaline-I know. You just want me to toy with her.
Joyce-Exactly.
{Rosaline smiles and exits the basement.}
Scene 11
{Buffy is sitting on top of a tombstone in the cemetery waiting for some action.}
Buffy-Come on! I'm bored and if the Slayer is ever bored, that is not a good thing.
{Just then, Rosaline comes out from the shadows.}
Rosaline-Do not worry, Slayer. You will not be bored any more.
{Rosaline begins to slowly make her way to Buffy. Buffy jumps off the tomb and pulls out a small sword from her bag.}
Rosaline-Nice sword. What are you going to do with it, slice off my head?
{Rosaline throws her head back and laughs. As she is doing so, Buffy kicks her right in her solar plexus. Rosaline is caught off guard and stumbles backwards. Buffy elbows Rosaline and then kicks her again. Rosaline falls to the ground and Buffy takes the sword and puts it through Rosaline's chest. Buffy smiles, satisfied.}
Buffy-Guess I'm not bored after all.
Rosaline-Stupid Slayer!
{Rosaline slowly pulls the sword out of her chest and throws it about ten feet away. Buffy's eyes grow wide with surprise.}
Rosaline-That's right. A simple sword through the chest cannot kill me.
{Rosaline laughs.}
Buffy-I'm sure there's some way to kill you.
Rosaline-Oh, there is, but I don't think you're going to figure it out right now.
{Rosaline walks over to Buffy and attempts to touch her with her fingernails. Buffy pushes her away.}
Rosaline-Now, don't go trying to fight it.
Buffy-Fight what?
Rosaline-Never mind. Come to me.
Buffy-I'm not coming to you.
Rosaline-Come to me!
{Buffy looks around and then her eyes meet Rosaline's gaze. Buffy looks like she's under some kind of hypnosis and follows Rosaline's instructions, she goes to her.}
Rosaline-That's it.
{Rosaline puts her hands on the sides of Buffy's head. She is about to break her neck when Buffy suddenly knees Rosaline in her lower stomach.}
Buffy-I don't follow hypnosis well. I've learned to resist.
Rosaline-I'll show you something!
Buffy-Then show me later. I've got to be going.
{Buffy punches Rosaline very hard in her jaw, grabs her bag, her sword, and then runs off. Camera fades out.}
Scene 12
{Dawn, Buffy, and Xander are crowded around the laptop computer.}
Buffy-Okay, we need to find out about this chick. She has to be a demon or something. She was pretty strong and tried to do some kind of hypnosis on me or something. I was able to resist it.
Xander-Kinda like you did with Dracula that time?
Buffy-Exactly.
Dawn-So, what do I look for?
Buffy-Um...I'm not sure, but when I did look in her eyes for a moment it was like she was seducing me.
Dawn-You think she seduces people?
Buffy-Not just any people, men.
Dawn-You got all of that from one look in her eyes?
Buffy-It wasn't just that. She touched me...and well...I could just tell okay.
Dawn-Okay. A demon that seduces men and kills them...I'll see what I can find.
{Dawn types away on the laptop.}
Xander-Did you try to kill her?
Buffy-Oh, yeah I did. I put a sword right through her chest, but she didn't die. She pulled it out of her chest and just laughed at me.
Xander-Hmmm...
Buffy-What?
Xander-I was just thinking.
Buffy-Oh. Got anything? It's just that usually after people say "hmmm" they say something after they say that.
Xander-I got nothing. I think my "hmmm" was more of a conversational "hmmm." You know, just something to say. Seemed like it fit in with what we were doing.
Buffy-Okay...I got nothing too. Well, except for what I just told you guys.
Dawn-I do! She seduces the men she touches with a special paralysis that's in her fingernails. Then kills them. Her name is Rosaline.
Buffy-That explains why she tried to touch me with her fingernails. She wanted to paralyze me.
Xander-And she's a demon?
Dawn-A witch and a demon to be more specific. A witch demon with some very unique powers. It says here she got her powers from her mother, who was a demon, but she got a bit of her humanity from her father, who was a witch.
Buffy-Don't really care. How do we kill her?
Dawn-It doesn't say on this page...or this web site.
Buffy-Well, I think we should figure it out soon.
Xander-That would be good.
Dawn-I'm on it.
{Dawn types on the laptop.}
Scene 13
{Joyce and Andrew are in the basement.}
Joyce-She should be back by now.
Andrew-You don't think she tried to kill Buffy, do you?
Joyce-I don't know. Even if she did, Buffy doesn't know how to properly kill her yet.
Andrew-Do you think Buffy knows anything about Rosaline yet?
Joyce-She knows a few things...I can sense that they're researching her on the Internet. I think it's amazing.
Andrew-What is?
Joyce-The Internet. You can find pretty much anything you want to by just typing a few words into a box. It used to be if you wanted to find something out, you had to actually spend time going through tons and tons of books.
Andrew-I know. It's cool.
Joyce-It depends on your point of view. I don't really like it because Buffy and her little friends find out things about the demons we send after them faster than I would like them to.
Andrew-Oh.
Joyce-Oh well. It doesn't truly matter. What matters is what I'm learning from Buffy. I need to keep my eyes open for any tricks she may have up those sleeves of hers.
{Rosaline enters.}
Rosaline-Sorry I'm late. The Slayer gave me just a little more trouble than I would've liked.
Joyce-She did, did she?
Rosaline-Yes. That one's quite the little fighter. I'll get her next time.
Joyce-What makes you think there will be a next time?
Rosaline-You do want me to kill her, don't you?
Joyce-Oh, I want you to try your hardest, yes...I just don't know if you'll be a match for her. You couldn't even get close enough to paralyze her for two seconds.
Rosaline-It's not my fault. She resisted my hypnotic stare.
Joyce-Well, it's probably because that works better on men.
Rosaline-I told you that I had never tried to kill a female before, but you didn't seem to care. You said my paralysis would work on anyone.
Joyce-It will. You just have to know how to get close enough to Buffy to do it. Try fighting her a little bit instead of trying to paralyze her the whole time.
Rosaline-I don't need to fight.
Joyce-Apparently you do.
Rosaline-Fine. I'll see what I can...learn.
Joyce-Good. Andrew, help Rosaline.
Andrew-Me?
Joyce-Yes you.
Andrew-What if she tries to kill me?
Joyce-What if she does?
Scene 14
{Buffy, Dawn, and Xander are still gathered around the laptop.}
Dawn-I don't understand why none of these web pages tell us how to kill this Rosaline person. They tell you everything else about her.
Xander-Maybe she can't be killed.
Buffy-She can be killed alright...we just don't know how yet.
Xander-You know for certain there's a way to kill her?
Buffy-Yeah. She told me.
Dawn-She did?
Buffy-When I was patrolling. It was right after I put that sword through her chest. She got up saying something like "A simple sword through the chest cannot kill me." I said there must be some way and she said there was, but that I wouldn't figure it out fast enough or something.
Dawn-Did you notice anything?
Buffy-Like what?
Dawn-I don't know...maybe her power source or something like that. You might have to destroy her power source.
Buffy-I don't know. The only thing she really used as power was her eyes.
Xander-Okay then. Whose for poking out her eyes?
Buffy-I don't think that's the way to kill her though.
Xander-Right.
Dawn-Was there anything else?
{Buffy thinks hard.}
Buffy-Wait. She wore this necklace thing.
Dawn-Like a pendant?
Buffy-I guess. Maybe her power's in that. Like Anya...you know, when she was all vengeance demon like.
Dawn-Maybe.
Xander-Just keep looking. There's a way to kill her.
Buffy-And I have a feeling that she'll be coming back...soon.
Dawn-I'm on it.
{She pauses for a moment and then begins typing on the laptop.}
Xander-I hated research then and I still hate it now.
Buffy-I know. I was never much of the book gal myself. Too much reading...and thinking.
Dawn-You two were just lazy.
Buffy-I was not! I'm the Slayer, which means kill. Research is not part of my job description.
Xander-So you dumped it on me and Willow and Giles?
Buffy-Well, when you put it that way...
Xander-I'm kidding. We told you how to kill the demons and you went out and did just that. You killed them. Am I com planing? I mean, you saved my life like a million times Buff.
Buffy-I did get that cool class protector award at graduation. Too bad those stupid vampires went through my stuff my first day of college and pretty much broke it.
Dawn-Oh! Looks like Buffy was right. Most of her strength lies in her pendant and if you destroy it, she can no longer hypnotize you and she is mortal.
Buffy-So then I can put a sword through her chest and she will...actually die?
Dawn-According to this, yes.
Buffy-Cool.
Xander-Alrighty then. Whose for squashing her necklace thingy?
Buffy-I am.
Xander-Thought you might say that.
Dawn-So, are you going back out to patrol or do you think Rosaline will show up here?
Buffy-I'm not sure. I think we should wait a little bit and see what happens.
Scene 15
{Joyce, Andrew, and Rosaline are in the basement. Andrew looks scared as Rosaline stares at him. Joyce has a look of amusement on her face.}
Rosaline-Let me have him.
Joyce-I would love to, but we need to think about the bigger picture here.
Rosaline-What bigger picture?
Joyce-Killing the Slayer.
Rosaline-Oh. Right. I don't like her. She put a sword through my chest.
Joyce-She is known to do that.
Andrew-I hope Buffy kicks your ass.
Joyce-Andrew, be nice to our guest.
Andrew-She wanted to kill me. I'm not being nice to her.
Rosaline-When can I have him?
Joyce-We'll make a deal. You come back unharmed, after you kill the Slayer, and you can have him all to yourself. I'll go some where else for an entire hour.
{Joyce winks at Andrew.}
Rosaline-Yay. Don't worry...I'll kill the Slayer. She's not on my good side.
Joyce-Good. Then you'll go now.
Rosaline-To the cemetery?
Joyce-To her house.
Rosaline-Oh.
Andrew-Does she even know where Buffy's house is?
Joyce-I don't think she does. Show her.
Andrew-You want me to take her to Buffy's house? She probably just kill me on the way.
Joyce-Good point. Fine. Just tell her how to get there.
Andrew-Fine.
{Camera fades out.}
Scene 16
{Buffy, Dawn, and Xander are sitting in the living room. Buffy lets out a sigh and stands up. She picks up a sword and walks towards the door.}
Buffy-It looks like Rosaline isn't going to show up here. I guess I'll just go find her.
Dawn-You want us to come? You know, in case you get paralyzed or something?
Xander-That might be a good idea.
Buffy-I don't want you guys to get hurt.
Dawn-And we won't.
Xander-We'll stay out of the way.
Dawn-And if you get paralyzed or something we can help you out.
Buffy-You sure you guys are up for it?
Xander-Yeah.
Dawn-Totally.
Buffy-Fine. Grab a weapon and let's head out.
Dawn-Right.
Xander-Okay.
Dawn-What did you do with the weapons?
Buffy-Oh...right. They're still in my room.
Xander-We should go get them.
Buffy-Okay, go ahead. I'll still be here when you get back down.
{Xander and Dawn walk upstairs, leaving Buffy alone in the living room. A few seconds later, we hear the sound of a door breaking. Buffy turns around and Rosaline enters the living room.}
Rosaline-It's time for me to get my revenge.
Buffy-Good luck.
{Buffy takes the sword and tries to slip it under Rosaline's necklace so that she can get it off. Rosaline moves the other way.}
Rosaline-So, you figured out most of my power lies in my pendant.
Buffy-I did.
Rosaline-Let me just give you a warning, my power my be in there, but I still have plenty of strength.
Buffy-Your point?
Rosaline-You talk back too much.
Buffy-Talk back? You act like you're my mother or something.
{Rosaline smiles and then laughs.}
Buffy-Besides, I'm sick of this small talk. You came here to fight...and well, so did I.
Rosaline-I always enjoy competition.
Buffy-That makes two of us...all though, I think it's pretty clear who's going to win this time.
{Buffy swings the sword at Rosaline's head and she ducks. As she comes up, she kicks Buffy in her shin. Buffy stumbles back and Rosaline kicks her again. The sword drops from Buffy's hands and falls on the floor. Rosaline comes towards her, reaching out with her hands. Buffy moves to the left, grabs her sword, and stands back up. Rosaline has an evil grin on her face and once again, breaks out into laughter. Buffy punches her in the face and Rosaline's smile fades. Buffy takes the sword and puts it through Rosaline's chest. Rosaline moans and then her laughter returns.}
Rosaline-I thought you learned your lesson. That stupid sword won't kill me.
Buffy-You're right. It won't, but it will hurt like hell.
{Buffy takes the sword and pushes it further through Rosaline's chest. Rosaline cries out in pain as Buffy grabs the necklace from around her neck. She takes the sword out of Rosaline's chest, throws the necklace on the ground, and is about to bring the sword down upon it, when Rosaline tackles Buffy to the ground. Buffy and Rosaline fall and start to struggle to gain possession of the necklace. Rosaline grabs it and quickly puts it back on. Buffy tries to get up, but Rosaline kicks her to the ground. Rosaline bends down to Buffy's level. Buffy's eyes grow wide as Rosaline brings her fingernails close to Buffy's face. She tries to move away, but she hits her head on the couch.}
Rosaline-Slayer, you are mine!
{Buffy struggles to get away but is trapped. Rosaline brings her hand to Buffy's face and brushes her fingernails against her skin. Buffy tries to stop Rosaline but fails again.}
Rosaline-The results of the paralysis are pretty much instant. You're mine now.
{Rosaline laughs and Buffy tries to reach out and grab the necklace. Before she can do so, Rosaline slaps her. Buffy falls back and Rosaline stands up. She hovers over Buffy. Buffy's eyes get even wider when she realizes that she cannot move and that she is paralyzed already. She tries to call for help, but she can barely move her lips. Rosaline gets even closer to Buffy and then kicks her really hard. She kicks her again and again, each kick getting stronger.}
Rosaline-I usually use my paralysis on men, but I never actually realized that it could work on women too. Sure I had some people tell me it could work both ways, but you're the first female I've tried this one. Works like a charm.
{Buffy just lies there. We can tell that she is trying to talk, but is unable to. She's helpless.}
Rosaline-Looks like this is your last fight.
{Rosaline looks around until she finds the sword that Buffy was using earlier. She picks it up and brings it back over near Buffy.}
Rosaline-Let's see how you like a sword put through your chest.
{Rosaline slowly brings down the sword and is about to drive it through, when she is suddenly tackled by Xander. Rosaline and Xander fall to the ground and Xander grabs her necklace. Rosaline screams and reaches for the necklace. Xander stands up and throws it to Dawn.}
Rosaline-No!
{Dawn throws the necklace on the ground and steps on it. The necklace shatters and a glowing green light comes out of it.}
Dawn-Cool.
Rosaline-How dare you! I was going to go ahead and finish of the Slayer, but it looks like you're going to be first on my list now!
{Rosaline makes her way over to Dawn as Xander kneels down beside of Buffy.}
Xander-Hey, you okay?
{Buffy manages to form half a smile and tries to sit up. Xander puts his hands on her back and helps her into a sitting position.}
Xander-I guess the paralysis hasn't really worn off yet.
Buffy-Yeah...but it's starting to.
{Buffy stands up, but then falls back down.}
Xander-Take it easy. We squashed the necklace thing.
Buffy-Oh? Good...that's good. Now we just have to kill her.
Xander-Right.
{Buffy sees Rosaline over near Dawn.}
Buffy-We have to get her away from Dawn. Her power source may be gone, but she still has some strength. Here.
{Buffy hands him the sword she was using before.}
Xander-I can't....
Buffy-Yes you can. I wish I could fight her, God knows I want to, but I still can't stand up. You have to kill her for me.
Xander-Buffy, I don't know....
Buffy-I do. I know that you can do it. She's close to Dawn now. Just walk up behind her and shove this through her back. She won't even see it coming.
Xander-Are you sure?
Buffy-Positive.
{Buffy smiles and Xander takes the sword. He slowly walks over to Rosaline.}
Rosaline-I will kill you!
{Rosaline tries to punch Dawn, but Dawn quickly ducks out of the way. Rosaline hisses and grabs Dawn by the throat. Dawn begins coughing and struggles to get free. Xander grips the sword and walks up behind of Rosaline.}
Buffy-Now Xander!
{Xander quickly looks at Buffy and then back at Rosaline. He takes the sword and drives it through Rosaline's back. She cries out in pain and turns around, the tip of the sword showing through her chest.}
Rosaline-Well, it looks like you killed me after all.
{Rosaline falls to the ground and then dissolves. Dawn falls down and rubs her throat. Xander rushes over to her.}
Xander-Are you okay?
Dawn-Yeah, I'm okay. What about Buffy?
{Buffy stands up.}
Buffy-I'm fine. Thanks Xander.
Dawn-Yeah...you killed Rosaline.
Buffy-I knew you could.
Xander-Yeah...I guess I did kill her. It was pretty cool, huh?
Buffy-The coolest.
{Buffy, Xander, and Dawn light up with smiles and embrace in a group hug.}
Scene 17
{We are in the basement with Joyce and Andrew. Andrew is sitting on the floor and Joyce is standing beside of him, a smile of satisfaction on her face.}
Joyce-Well, Buffy's okay.
Andrew-Did she kill Rosaline?
Joyce-Actually, Xander did.
Andrew-Xander?
Joyce-I'm just as surprised as you are. Oh well...at least we know now that Buffy is starting to depend on her sister and her friend a little more. She's either maturing or getting stupid. I'll go with maturing. She's realizing what an asset her friends truly are to her.
Andrew-Yeah....I guess that's it.
Joyce-We're learning even more about her, but it is still too soon to let her know about us.
Andrew-When will the time be here?
Joyce-Whenever it does.
Scene 18
{Buffy, Dawn, and Xander are sitting in the living room.}
Dawn-So, Xander killed himself a demon.
Buffy-Yes he did.
Xander-Alright, alright. I think I've had enough with the compliments and the flattering.
Buffy-Okay.
Dawn-We'll stop.
Xander-Are you kidding me? I love the compliments and the flattering, please continue.
{They all laugh.}
Buffy-You should've seen the look of terror on your face when I told you to kill Rosaline.
Dawn-I wish I saw it too...I was kinda having some terror of my own to deal with though. That look in Rosaline's eyes, was a pretty darn scary look.
Xander-Yeah, well I was pretty terrified.
Buffy-But you did it anyway...killed her.
Xander-Well, yeah. You were paralyzed and Dawn was being strangled. I had to do something. Wait...
Buffy-What?
Xander-After I killed Rosaline you got up like there was no problem. Only a minute before you acted as if you couldn't even stand.
Buffy-I did.
Xander-So, you could've killed Rosaline?
Buffy-I could've.
Xander-Then why did you make me do it?
Buffy-I didn't make you. I knew that if put in the situation to kill a demon, you would do it no matter how frightened you'd be. I just wanted to let you prove that to yourself.
Xander-Really?
Buffy-Really?
Dawn-Wow. That's new.
Buffy-Yeah, well it's been a long day. Anyone else ready for bed?
Dawn-Me.
Xander-Me three.
{Buffy, Xander, and Dawn get up from the couches and head towards their rooms when the phone suddenly rings. Buffy goes to get it.}
Buffy-Hello?
Willow-Hey, Buffy.
Buffy-Hi! What's up?
Willow-Well, I'm on my way to catch a plane.
Buffy-Oh really? Where are you going?
Willow-Rome.
Buffy-Rome?
Willow-I think it's time I paid you guys a visit.
Buffy-Well, I can't wait to see you.
Willow-Me too. I can't wait to see you and Xander and Dawn.
Buffy-You need us to pick up at the airport?
Willow-Yeah. My flight is supposed to be there Thursday around three, I think.
Buffy-We'll be there.
Willow-Okay, thanks!
Buffy-Bye!
Willow-See you later!
{Both hang up the phone.}
Xander-Who was that?
Buffy-Willow.
Dawn-Really? What did she want?
Buffy-To tell us she's coming to Rome.

{Buffy and Willow walk into Buffy's room.}
Willow-Thanks for letting me stay with you in your room.
Buffy-No problem. I wish we had a guest room or something though. This house isn't so big.
Willow-It's fine.
Buffy-Well, I'll let you un pack.
Scene 3
{Buffy is patrolling in the cemetery when she's attacked by a large dog with glowing eyes. She breaks free and runs off.}
Scene 4
{Dawn, Buffy, Xander, and Willow are gathered around the laptop.}
Willow-You were attacked by a dog last night?
Buffy-I know it sounds stupid, but it wasn't just any dog. It was evil or something...strong too.
Willow-Well, I'll see what I can find.
Xander-It's nice to have Will back to do the research.
Dawn-And I didn't do a good job?
Xander-No. I mean, you did...it's just...
Dawn-I know. Willow's just better at it.
Willow-I found something.
Buffy-What?
Willow-Chauncey...is an evil dog from Hell. He shape shifts into people or something...
Buffy-That doesn't sound good.
Willow-There's a simple way to kill him...well sort of.
Scene 5
{Buffy is back in the cemetery battling with Chauncey. She is trying to get to her feet, but is having trouble.}
Voice-Will Buffy be able to send Chauncey back to Hell? Or will he destroy her?
