Cordelia suddenly slammed into the front part of the car.
"Cordy?" Gunn pulled the keys back out of the engine.
"What's wrong?" The girl leaned forward from her seat.
"Never mind," Gunn said shortly to the back seat. He lowered his voice, leaning over to Cordelia. "Cordy?" he asked again.
"Gunn." She looked back up at him.
"I thought the demon thing was supposed to make the visions better."
"It was--it does. But this.... This was something else. Not like a vision." Her eyes widened a little.
"Was it Wolfram and Hart again?"
"No.... Maybe.... I don't know."
In the backseat, the girl--Wordstreamer--frowned. "Was it you?" she asked the person beside her softly.
"No," he replied. "I thought it was you."
"That's not good."
"What're the two of you talking about?" Gunn shot over his shoulder.
"Gossip. Who's doing who, and who isn't. Normal stuff," she replied unconvincingly.
"Right." He didn't have time to find out the truth. "What was it?"
"A warning. A--if we take them back to L.A. tonight, they won't survive. Someone's going to try and get them away."
"Someone--you mean, Wolfram and Hart."
"Yes."
"Okay. So, where can we go?"
The two in the backseat kept listening. "They're slipping," he whispered to Wordstreamer. "Sooner or later, they'll admit something."
"No. They're good at this, remember?"
"It's more like, Sunnydale's awful."
"There is that." She nodded a little. "I could make it easier on them. I could take us to my church."
"I think that between her demoness and my anti-religion, we'd get blasted by a lightening bolt for walking in, much less staying there."
She shot him a glance, half "are-you-kidding", half "that's-true".
"We could...... We could take them to Sunnydale," Cordelia said reluctantly.
"That crazy place that you're from? You think they could handle this?"
"If we go to Buffy's place, I think maybe." She looked at him directly for the first time since her vision, her eyes managing to focus. She saw his skeptical expression.
"Well, do you have a better idea?" She pointed out.
"Nope." He sighed, and put the keys back in. "Sunnydale, it is."
"Sunnydale?" asked the girl in the backseat.
"Yes. Side trip," replied Gunn shortly. "We'll be in L.A. tomorrow." Lowering his voice again, he asked, "We can go back to L.A. tomorrow?"
"I think so," said Cordelia. She sighed and buckled the seat belt. "Let's go home."

Sunnydale, CA
"This it? Looks kind of peaceful," Gunn said, looking down Revello Drive.
"You weren't here when we had all of the girls swarming over Xander in the basement," Cordelia pointed out. "Or any of the other hundred times someone tried to kill us here."
"Point taken." He turned off the car, and got out. "Let's just hope she hasn't moved."
"Nope. She died, but she hasn't moved."
"It's--already?" Asked the girl in the backseat.
"What do you mean, already?"
"Just.... Startled," she said, trying to cover it up.
"Good job, Wordstreamer," the boy told her sarcastically.
"Look. Before we take you into Buffy's house, we need to know your names."
"So that if we're vamped, you can de-invite us. Does make sense," said the girl, nodding.
"Wordstreamer!" hissed her friend.
"I'm Maria. Or Wordstreamer. Whichever one you find easier," she said lightly. "He... Is NiBu. Or annoying. Whichever you find easier."
"And the vamping? Are you two into some crazy gothic shit?"
"No. But we know the same things as you do--maybe a few more. Like, you'll want to move in about three seconds," she said conversationally.
Gunn gave her a mistrusting look, but stepped to the side. A spear came flying through the air a split second later.
"Demon," explained Maria.
Cordelia and Gunn gaped at these two people that they were sent to protect. Nibu glared at his friend. She smiled brightly at all of them.
"You guys get down!" yelled a blond girl, diving forward. Gunn stepped even further to the side, and Cordy walked beside him. The two new people backed away, and sat on the car.
Gunn watched the tiny blonde kick the ass of a huge demon, one that it would've taken him and his whole gang to get. Cordelia watched the Slayer fight. Nibu and Maria paid little attention to the spectacle, arguing instead.
"You shouldn't have said that. We'll have to explain now," he said in a low voice.
"They can deal. Come on. It'd take a lot to freak them out."
The demon collapsed, head in one place and body in another.
"Buffy!" said Cordelia.
"Cordelia!" said Buffy, less enthusiastically.
"It's been a while. Listen, can we stay here tonight?"
"We? Who's 'we'?"
"Me... And Gunn.... And these two."
"Who're they?"
"We're supposed to save them," said Cordelia brightly.
"They're whatting us?" asked Maria, turning to Nibu again.
"They're saving us," he told her.
"Because, why?"
"Um.... Can we go inside? Before the demons decide you all look like tasty morsels?" asked Buffy.
"Yeah. And we have got to catch up. How's Xander?"
"Engaged."
"And Willow?"
"Recovering."
They managed to get deeper and deeper into conversation as they walked to the house. Nibu and Maria got down from the car, talking in even lower voices, following them.
"This is going to be a long night," sighed Gunn, rolling his eyes. He followed them, shutting the door.
