Terrific work, and the best idea for a continuation of the BuffyVerse I've seen yet. Your protrayal of Xander is great, please continue as long as the Muse strikes you.
Author's Response: As long as people keep reading and I don't run out of ideas, I'll keep writing! Thanks for the kind words! |

I've just finished this reading this and I love it! you introduced the new characters so well it was lke they were always there! I'm about to start season 2 but what is it with you people and perminatly blinding Xander!!! people just dont want him to have full use of even one eye!Though I like my Xander able to see but if it furthers your plot you could make all the characters blind and I'd still love it!!!
Author's Response: I love it when people read this episode. It just fills me with such evil glee!
So I can make all the characters blind? *Evil Laugh* What a great idea!!! |

Of all the spinoff ideas I've seen, this is the first involving Xander. It's also one of the best. I think it's a brilliant idea, but you don't rest on the strength of the idea alone. Your execution is also first class. Great fic!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. Hopefully you'll like the rest of the series... |

| I adored this - you've found the wonderful balance between drama and quirky comedy, which Buffy nailed so well in it's early years. You have Andrew and Xander down so well (though Xander has nice matured edge to him, which I like). Like another reviewer, I'm much with the seething jealousy - balanced out by the fact that this is wonderful. I chuckled all the way through. Excellent, fab, and you'll hear from me in Act II. C x |

I have enjoyed this show with much pleasure. It was fun, great dialogues, very well fleshed out OCs and a strong plot. The only thing I liked less, but this is personal and has nothing to do with the quality of your story, is that I don't like Xander having anykind of powers. Not even the vision. To me he's extraordinary because he has no powers and can still be special :)
But don't let that stop you with the way you want to tell your story. I am anxious to the next season!
And oh, one other little nitpicking. Can you please let Liv and Jordy stop calling Xander Mr Harris. I find it annoying, and I don't think Xander would like to be referred to his father. But, that's only nitpicking, nothing more. Really, its damn good, easily worth a 10 out of 10.
Author's Response: Thanks for the high praise and also some very valid feedback. I know giving Xander a power pretty much violated a major canon/fanon rule, and there are many times I regret doing that. Many... many... many times. You're absolutely right, Xander's character is extraordinary because of who he is. Mr. Non-powered guy. The Heart. The guy who fixes the windows and sees everything. That's one reason why I punished his character so much during the series and with what happened to him in the final "episode". That being said, when I went with the whole "vision" power thing it was the result of Dawn and Caleb's comments about Xander's character being able to "see everything". That and with Cordelia now being dead, that power was left vacant except for the "one shot deal" Angel had back in the final season of his series. I also liked the idea of giving Xander a power, but also making him pay for it.
As for the "Mr. Harris" thing, you also make a valid point. I thought I had written a scene someplace where Xander told Liv to call him by his first name but she refused, though I may have edited it out. I mostly did it to differentiate herself from Buffy and establish a different type of relationship between Liv and Xander than what Buffy had with Giles. Jordy and Maya may cross that line of familiarity next season, but every time I write the word "Xander" in Liv's dialogue it just doesn't feel right. I end up deleting it and writing in "Mr. Harris".
I know what you mean though. My neighbor's kids call me Mr. "XYZ" all the time and it drives me up the wall.
Thanks again for the review and some great feedback. Hopefully you'll like the next season... I'm working out some of the ideas right now and taking my time with the first ep. Should be out in another week or two. |

How can you do this to me? You are so cruel. I am weeping. Cliffhangers. Get me every time. You rock!
Author's Response: Thanks for reading!
Author's Response: For some reason my "Maniacal laugh" got edited out of my last response. Oh well. |

Great premise, great execution. This is as good a way to continue the Buffy/Angelverse as I’ve seen. Writing a full length script would make the chapters too long, so breaking it into acts was excellent. This is especially true because acts have mini-climaxes. Um . . . did that sound dirty?
You have Xander down in all his many facets. You don’t just write him as funny and awkwardly uncomfortable and brave. You write Xander as being those things as the character was always funny and awkwardly uncomfortable and brave. Perfect examples: the spider incident. “I sold all my weapons in one spooky yard sale.” And far too many more to mention. Andrew and his non sequiturs (do you have a soda? I’m thirsty) were also pitch perfect. “You are the one-eyed watcher!” It honestly takes a lot to get me to laugh out loud at work. I am so horrendously jealous.
Author's Response: Wow! High praise indeed!
Thanks for the review. One of my bigger concerns in this "episode" was that I didn't due Andrew justice. I feel a lot better now!
Thanks! |
