Reviews for The Watcher

filmtheory 04/07/05 - 11:07AM 7: 1.2 Training Day: Act II Signed
Poor Xander- getting hit in the good eye. Lucy not liking Maya was a good idea- the more levels of conflict the better. Liv's test anxiety extending to her fighting is a really neat touch. My favorite scene was X's conversation with the 8 ball.

Author's Response: Glad you've enjoyed it so far. I didn't mean for Maya and Lucy to not get along, but that might be a good option to pursue down the road. Pay attention to the 8 ball... It'll be important down the road (as is Liv's test anxiety)

BTW - Love the work you've done on your multiple storylines. I don't know how you can keep track of them.

filmtheory 04/06/05 - 04:43PM 6: 1.2 Training Day: Act I Signed
Greta act! The training montafge ha dme laughing out loud. Xander making over a fire hall makes perfect sense. The line about the entertainment center was also vintage Xander.

filmtheory 04/06/05 - 04:42PM 5: 1.2 Training Day: Teaser Signed
Greta opener. It's a teaser truly worthy of a Buffy episode. Xander's "That's it. Keep it coming." was pure Xander. Fatherly and caring while also resigned to the fact that he's the guy who's going to get pule don. Perfect!

Awsome! "This is just all sorts of wrong." And I have to hand it to you, you certainly know how to... END TEASER

Another great episode/quartet of chapters. Having Xander get all of his spells redone on him--very funny. Yea. Hopefully Liv's either going to get over her fear of puppets, or the magic's going to take on a new form soon. For that matter, hopefully Brad becomes less of a jerk--poor Maya. "Breathe, Liv..." :) Another great one, though, leaving me desperate for the next update.

Author's Response: Brad? Become less of a jerk? Really... Who'd want to see that?

filmtheory 04/04/05 - 12:26AM 4: 1.1 Destiny's Path: Act IV Signed
This story is really funny. The history homework line was great. Great cliffhanger ending! Hell of a way to start a series.

filmtheory 04/04/05 - 12:20AM 3: 1.1 Destiny's Path: Act III Signed
I love quippy Xander and that he’s still Xander when it comes to the fighting. Liv’s reaction to the vamp and its dusting was perfect. I liked the nurse- she was definitely funny. Also, loved the twist. I just wonder why Nurse Fontaine never explained vamps to her daughter. Can’t wait to find out.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it! Liv does mention her Mom talking about vampires in the next act, but you have to admit, it's one thing to talk about vampires and another to face them.

Good job, love it, keep it going!!!

redmoon 04/01/05 - 11:45PM 16: 1.4 Must be Tuesday: Act II Signed
Heh heh, awsome. "You're like a pocket slayer."

Author's Response: Thanks Red! That was my favorite Willow line.

filmtheory 04/01/05 - 10:44AM 2: 1.1 Destiny's Path: Act II Signed
Xander has a BMW? See- the HS nerds are always the ones who do well in the real world. I also like the spider comment. Xander was never one to let a good joke drop. Xander's trials in getting Olivia to accept her destiny were great. Also, I liked the Munsters in-joke. Were there any other in-jokes or references I missed?

Author's Response: Nice Catch! I wondered if anyone noticed that.

One thing I do whenever I'm stuck for a name of a big bad or demon is to take a name of a character or person and spell it backwards. For Instance in the previous chapter:
"Giles came across a set of texts by Ibonek Naw Ibo"

Author's Response: Oh and the reference to "Diane" as Xander's assistant is from Twin Peaks.

End Act I?? You sadistic bastard! Just kidding. Great start. I always love the script style. Keep it up: update well and often!!

Yea.... Romance for Xander (which is always nice when it isn't, as pattern seems to dictate, doomed), Willow (yea! Willow!), Liv actually does some coordinated-Slayer things (great to see her kick some ass--and get knocked unconscious, yeah, but she's still come far since the first episode/first five chapters). It was all great again, as per usual!

Author's Response: We're still in the happy-go-lucky portion of Xander's romance, but the only guarantee I can make is that it won't end with Lucy becoming a demon.

rockangelz25 03/30/05 - 03:33PM 14: 1.3 Ties that Bind: Act IV Signed
It was great. I liked the cheeseman in the teaser--I'm also glad that Xander got most of his issues with the visions sorted out. Equally happy to see Cordelia and Doyle in the episode! (They were fun.) Poor Liv, on the high school note--and Brad is from Moron Town. (That was me being blunt, on obviously connected subjects. Sorry.) I liked the whole thing--and the side note about Anya was very good, also (I liked your "lost ep" of Angel, too, on the Xander-Anya thing.) Xander's obviously perfect (Xander-like), and I loved the whole thing. Update it again soon, please.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it! Brad is supposed to be a moron and I'm glad he came across that way. I found Cordy and Doyle difficult to write for, so I'm glad you like them in here. I may pull them out if I come up with any more ideas with Xander's vision quests.

filmtheory 03/29/05 - 01:52PM 1: 1.1 Destiny's Path: Act I Signed
Great premise, great execution. This is as good a way to continue the Buffy/Angelverse as I’ve seen. Writing a full length script would make the chapters too long, so breaking it into acts was excellent. This is especially true because acts have mini-climaxes. Um . . . did that sound dirty?
You have Xander down in all his many facets. You don’t just write him as funny and awkwardly uncomfortable and brave. You write Xander as being those things as the character was always funny and awkwardly uncomfortable and brave. Perfect examples: the spider incident. “I sold all my weapons in one spooky yard sale.” And far too many more to mention. Andrew and his non sequiturs (do you have a soda? I’m thirsty) were also pitch perfect. “You are the one-eyed watcher!” It honestly takes a lot to get me to laugh out loud at work. I am so horrendously jealous.

Author's Response: Wow! High praise indeed! Thanks for the review. One of my bigger concerns in this "episode" was that I didn't due Andrew justice. I feel a lot better now! Thanks!
