Awesome chapter, as usual. I LOVE the opening paragraph. It completely sucks you into the story. Illyria with the cradling question was hysterical. Gunn’s thoughts show he’s still punishing himself for what happened with Fred. It’s also good to see that the AI crew is still questioning Angel’s actions. I’m really excited that military Xander is back. I love military Xander. All that and man on man action to boot. Well, sort of. I mean, licking wounds closed . . . that’s pretty hot! Keep it up! Keep it up!

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it. I always thought that Angel was much darker that he let on. That his battle for redemption was extremely hard for him even with his soul.

I really love your version of Illyria taking out Izzy and company. Awesome! I also love her loyalty to Wesley. Wes and Vail’s wizard’s duel was better in writing than on the screen. On tv, it was over too fast. But you go through every thought and memory. And poor, poor Wesley. He has to go on with all that pain and guilt. Still, his fail safe plan was pretty freakin’ cool. Spike’s internal monologue was amusing as expected. I really like what you did with this chapter. Brilliant!

Author's Response: This was the last chapter that I made a small effort to follow the established story line of the series. Wesley is one if my favorite character's so I bent the rules a little and let him live... Thanks for reviewing I really appreciate them!

Angel versus Marcus was a recap, but I loved that fight so much I was sooo happy to read it. Gunn and Lorne finish their final missions and soon we have the big showdown. I love and hate how you’re dragging this out. As I wrote before, this is such sweet torture. This story is excellent!

Author's Response: I didn't want to skip over the Angel's fight with Marcus it does have bearing in the upcoming chapters... Thank you for the nice review!

I love that the slayers are so organized. They're like firefighters. An emergency happens and an instant later they're on the scene. I’m still not sold on the canonization of Saint Spike. Buffy loving him I can get, but I’m not sure what exactly Buffy is referencing when she mentions all Spike has done for her. I realize that Buffy and Dawn would be glad he was alive, but it seems an awful lot like Spike means everything and Angel means nothing, at least in the eyes of Buffy and Dawn. That seems a little extreme, even for a Spuffy story. The fight between Kennedy and Rona was hysterical. Kennedy (and I actually like Kennedy) was always demanding more than anyone could deliver, including herself. Buffy knows you can’t always have the perfect set up and the right equipment. It’s like Spike said in Halloween. “You see that? The way she stakes him with that thing? That's what’s called resourceful.” Buffy knows how to fight with what’s on hand. I’m so excited that the fight is finally here. All in all, a really good chapter.

Author's Response: I think that with so many slayers around there had to be some kind of organization. Hence the training and drills... I appreciate the comment about you not getting the fact that Buffy is cannonizing Spike. It is an eye opener that I need to illuminate the reasons behind her thinking. I just assumed (wrongly) that everyone would be able to follow along and didn't take into consideration that not everyone is a die hard Spuffy lover. (And have the same conclusions about the actions that happened in that relationship) I need that kind of constructive criticism. Thanks! Angel doesn't mean nothing to them but he has been out of the picture for years. Thank you for the review! I am glad that you have continued reading...

Man I wish you wrote a chapter with Giles talking to Wes's dad. Can you do a chapter 8.5 and slip it in? Again you have great exposition. Often times exposition gets boring. It's interesting that Giles feels much the way Buffy, Xander, and Wesley seem to- used up and no longer useful. Wes feels his purpose in life is gone with Fred's death. Giles feels the same way after raising Buffy. His job is done and things between them are strained. he's served his purpose. But now, Giles gets to be purpose-man again. I can't wait to see Giles and Willow go off in the big fight. Also, Kennedy being pissed about not being in first class- HAHAHA! Great chapter!

Author's Response: I had to believe that the Scoobies and Giles would be tired of fighting the good fighht. They had been doing it for seven years now and it just keeps coming and coming. I'm guessing that Giles is probably on the high side of middle age and I think he would be getting more than a little tired of it all. Getting another chance to fight against evil in a stronger capacity is rejuvinating in some sense. Bringing him back into the game so to speak. I'm glad that you liked the Kennedy joke. Sometime you put stuff in and are not to sure that it is going to taken in the way it is meant to be recieved. Thank you for reviewing!

Poor Wesley. You got into his head like few others have done. I like that you give us a reason for Wes joining Angel's crusade against the Black Thorn other than the obvious "We're good and we fight evil- Rah!" You're also building the tension with a feeling of impending doom. I think that's why I love this story so much. You take any conflict and milk it for all it's worth without overplaying it. I can't wait to see you get to the big battle, yet it's such exquisite torture to have you draw it out as you do. The show had the fang gang living out their last days, but this chapter gave us the internal desperation. Another great chapter in this great story!

Author's Response: Wes's past leave so much baggage to play around with. He isn't just the straightforward good vs. evil guy he was when he first appeared on BtVS. That last day for each character was an important part of the series. I just wanted to get inside their heads for a bit. Thank you for being so nice in your reviews! I am very happy that you are enjoying.

Andrew's internal monologue was great. Buffy method of torturing Andrew was very appropriate. The rest of the chapter was good as well, I'm just hard to sell on Spike being Buffy's true love, let alone the one important man in her life. I wouldn't mind seeing more about why she feels that way.

Author's Response: Andrew is one of my favs I love the little guy! I do explain further in some of her reasoning for loving Spike... Hopefully you will continue on to find out...

Xander’s message on the answering machine was hysterical! A lot of people play the Andrew’s a joke card, but do it rather poorly. But Ewoks and Xahn Gurth demons! Again with the great working of exposition- you give us a message from Giles, then tell us what Buffy is thinking- that things between her and Giles are strained. Another thing that I think this story does better than others- it doens't just pitch us into the battle in the alley. You're laying out the personal drama while the characters approach the climactic battle. The big battle isn't just a nuisance you have to get past. You're building up to, wrapping all the emotional turmoil in with the action. Getting closer to Spuffy time . . . I'm not sure how I'll feel about that. Of course, there's never been a love affair between Buffy and a souled Spike, so I guess I'll have to see how it plays out.

Author's Response: I wanted this to be about the relationships between the characters but I swear there is action and plenty of it! I like most ships but the Spuffy one is my fav. This story isn't 100 percent about the two of them. Or at least I am trying not to make it that way. It is definately Spuffy though just to warn you! Thanks for reviewing and I appreciate your comments.

I feel bad about Buffy getting dumped by the Immortal. I never thought her the type to fall for a smooth talking demon. But then again, after Spike, I guess all bets were off regarding Buffy’s love life. Still, I feel really bad for her. However, I’m glad Faith and Buffy worked out their issues. Plus, Faith and Buffy dancing? That is SO HOT!!! Great chapter. You gave us a lot of exposition but made it very, very interesting.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. The Immortal is a jerk and Buffy kind of used him to get her friends off her case about dating again. To prove that she is fine... I wanted Buffy and Faith to have a better relationship. I felt that they were moving in that direction when the show ended, and wanted to continue with that theme. I'm glad that you at least find it interesting! :)

Great chapter! Wes’ father’s voice ringing in his drunken head was a great touch. Spike and Angel arguing was in-character without being repetitious. I like the planning for the big battle. I can’t wait!

Author's Response: Thanks for the nice review. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and review!

I loved Lilah’s charm on Wes’ apartment. It’s so cool to have a plot device that makes such perfect sense in the context of prior seasons. I loved Andrew’s answering machine message. Wes calling Buffy was a great touch. I love the way you’re building up to the big climactic battle. But apparently not climactic for your story. Thank you! We really need a continuation.

Author's Response: Wes is a great character. I love writing him. I figured if there was anyone that was going to go against Angel's orders it would be the Rogue Demon Hunter. ;) This is going to go through the big battle and beyond. I hope you continue on reading. Thanks!

Great chapter. The parallels you drew between Buffy and Xander as used-up and obsolete war heroes was brilliant and a really natural place for their characters to go. I'm glad to see things didn't go too far between Buffy and the Immortal. I hated the idea of that relationship. The cry at the end was good. Buffy didn't used to be afraid to cry in front of people. Great chapter.

Author's Response: Season Seven seemed like such a sad place for all of the characters. Xander losing and eye and Anya. Buffy losing Spike and her friends trust in her leadership skills... I am glad that you picked up on my intention with this chapter. Both of the characters have those emotional issues and I felt that Xander should be feeling some remorse in how he had treated Spike. (and Anya) And the emotionally stopped up Buffy had no place in my fics... :D The Immortal was just ick. I had to lose him. Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I really appreciate it.

How can you always do this to me? I always know it's coming and I'm still shocked! Damned cliffhangers!

Author's Response: Cliffhangers are the best place to break. :D I pretty much know what I am going to do with this story and it feels like a natural place for me to break with my chapter... Sorry for my evilness...

Please update soon, I'm dying of anticipation waiting for the fight between Spike and Angel. :)

Author's Response: Thanks for the encouragement to write more... I have been busy writing the past few days... Thanks.
