Reviews for Running on Faith, Season Two

Painbow 11/19/04 - 05:00AM 4: 2.04: Truce Signed
*With his usual panache, Armand du Plessis walked into the room. His black, wool overcoat flowed behind him like a cape. He frowned slightly, seeing that his audience was unable to experience the effect.*

lol...I love that line! I really enjoyed the Faith/Connor bonding while fighting and spying. It reminded me of early btvs when they used to gossip and eat chips while fighting. The Dru thing has me going WTF like Faith...can't wait to see where that's going *g*

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! You’re so sweet! That’s exactly what I was going for with the Faith/Connor bonding. Talking about how to deal with girls while torturing a demon. The mundane and the bizarre all rolled into one.

Lots of good banter in this chapter. I'm glad that Faith is warming up to Connor, but only in a motherly sort of way. And the ending? What is it with Dru? Poor Giles. Let's hope he's out of it. Have Faith kick her butt. Good chapter again. What can I say?

Author's Response: Yeah, Faith’s warming up to Connor. I think she felt robbed at first. Normal Connor rescued her from prison and I think she really liked him. Feral Connor was a bratty and aggressive. But now she’s seeing him more like the little brother she never had.

“Another vampire with a soul?” Lucas said. “How many of them are there?”. :) A good chapter, full of witty lines and Faith/Connor banter. Although the cliffhanger is a killer. Giles? Drusilla? Noooo! ;)

Author's Response: Glad the gag lines are getting laughing responses. I'm wanted Faith to see the parallel between herself and Connor, version 1.0. It's good to know that banter is on target. I thought this cliff hanger was one of the weakest I've ever done, yet I'm getting more comments on it than any other. I can't help but feel readers will be disappointed when they see the (very obvious) explanation for this.

I really enjoyed this chapter. I like the stuff you have going on between Dawn and Connor... I get the Kennedy thing...can it break up Kennedy an Willow?... Pretty please? *g*

Author's Response: More kennedy loathing. I had no idea she was so unpopular. I don't have strong feelings either way, so it's interesting that others do. Someone e-mail me and let me know what's up with that. Things between Connor and Dawn will continue to be difficult, I think. But maybe not for too long. We'll see.

Lots of sexual tension in this chapter. Very well done. The Connor/Dawn thing was done perfectly. But the thing about Dawn kissing Kennedy? Nah, don't do that. Dawn and Kennedy? I really don't like Kennedy all that much. And there's so much sparkage between her and Connor. So please drop that. And where the heck is Spike going? Of course, nowhere now that the bad guys have him and Giles. Spike and Faith need to kiss and make up. I'm really liking your portrayal of Faith. Keep up the good work.

Author's Response: I hope I explained the Dawn/Kennedy kiss. It’s a combo between what Dawn and Xander said. Dawn came of age in house full of women and had her sister run off every interested guy. Add to that Xander’s theory, fear of impending doom, and we get a kiss. Kennedy won’t really be around too much, so you don’t have to worry about a Dawn/Kennedy romance. But what does everyone have against Kennedy? She’s by no means my favorite character, but she seems to have garnered some serious loathing. As for Connor/ Dawn, you pretty much hit it. There’s sparkage, but neither is experienced or comfortable enough to do anything about it. Dawn has almost no experience with men. Connor’s had a junky that died right after kissing him, a hooker who shot him down after he saved her life, and EvilCordy who quickly baby-whipped him and turned him evil. And in all cases, the girl initiated and pretty much ran the relationship. Looks like we’re in for a long night, so to speak. And let’s not forget that there’s a couple other D/C issues out in the wings waiting to come on stage. Spike and Faith, too, have a long hard road ahead.

I really liked the Giles/Connor moment at the end. It showed more of the pre-S7 "First" Giles, which I missed. Also, the Angel/Connor bonding scene. I really like where season 2 is going so far. Can't wait to see Faith trying to mentor Connor...

Author's Response: I really enjoyed reading the Angel/Connor bonding scene, so I’m particularly happy people liked reading it. I’m with you on Giles. Hopefully season 2 will keep your attention.

My continued effusive fangirl squeeing for your story! Not only do you write the action sequences extaordinarily well, your dialogue is some of the very best I have come across. I look forward to reading more - please update soon!

Author's Response: Glad I could make you squeal :) The next chapter is almost done. It was pretty much written, but some feedback convinced me to change it a little. I just hope I don't have too many characters in here.

Guess whose back? lol, great way to start off the new season! I love how everything is turning out. I like the way you are writting for each character.. you know exactly how the real writters would write for them. Great story line so far! Poor Xad, he needs to get some.. fast... Faith and Spike... I like it. lol, even if there is nothing there I like the "sexual banter". It's really funny. Keep it up!

Author's Response: And welcome back! I was hope to start the new season with a bang. I’m trying to maintain the Little Bad/ Big Bad system the show worked so well. This year, I start with the mini-bad. Then we’ll see if I can do a Small Bad to Little Bad to Big Bad. Basically, I have four sets of villains I’d love to work in this season, starting with the Jasmine demons. I’m really happy to hear I’m hitting the characters well. As for Spaith, stay tuned. We’ll see what happens.

Lots of battle already and in great style. I'm still loving the way you handle Faith. Since she's one of my favorite characters, I tend to be critical, but you have her down perfectly. Typical Connor broodiness. And I loved the scene with Angel and Connor bonding. And Xander wanting some love. I feel so sorry for him. It has been a long time since he had a girlfriend. Not fair. I hope you're fair to him in this fic. Looking forward to reading more. I'm liking this even more than the last. You've hit your stride on this.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I’m glad I did you proud with my Faith. The Connor broodiness will of course continue, but probably go in a different direction. I thought the Angel/Connor bonding could be heart-warming and funny. The original plan was to be decidedly unfair to Xander, but reviewer outpouring has me reconsidering and rewriting. Glad I hit my stride.

Yay, second season. Love the Faith dialogue. And I like it that you have Xander in the mix too. Makes it more exciting when you have different people involved. And no Spike/Faith love yet? What is their problem. Spike should be so over Buffy. And Robin was a jerk. Put them together. I know, I know. You have to make it dramatic. I really like their pairing. Please develop the new character a little more too.

Author's Response: Yes, I do have to make the hook ups dramatic, although, to me, they seem inevitable. I have a few ideas for some road blocks to keep you all squirming. However, early feedback (and thank you guys for giving it to me) has led me to push back a plot line, move up another, and keep some characters in the story. So the next chapter might take a little while as I rework a few things. Don't worry. Gretchen will develop.

First off, a big Wahoo! for an update! **Insert cut of celebratory kazoo band here.** Secondly, a big "Ha!" for making the update so darned funny. ie. "Spike charged in, sword ready, and ran hard for the demons pinning Faith down. “Get the hell away from her you . . . actually, don’t know what you are. Never seen you lot before. New here?” “Too much talkie,” a demon said, slapping Spike across the room. **rofl** this is the sort of witty 'in your face' banter I so much love and miss from Mutant Enemy. Kudos to you for being able to write it so well. Buffy's return to Rome has left me semi-reeling. Please tell me you won't leave it that way. I need to know she's going to face up to her mistakes and learn from them. Or at least not repeat them. Lastly, Xander working with Faith has to be one of the best ideas I've read to date. Despite the sexual frisson between them, they really do work well off one another. I look forward to reading more of their adventures soon! Keep up the good work, and as always, thanks so much for sharing! ~j

Author's Response: Buffy will probably be dealt with, but not for a while. Soooo much will happen between now and then. I'm glad Xander was a welcome addition.

hello...finally able to review hehehehe anyway, loved that you've posted the sequel to running on faith. i like this chapter...the action was well planned.not too "action-pack" executioner type but the way you described each fight helps the imagination to really see.. i love the humor again...xander, spike and faith. gretch being a clutz..a little airhead...good one.especially when faith, spike and xander simultaneously warned her not to do anything.. and for the subtle hints of Connor and what happened on the first story..leaves readers for more..but the underlying "secret" athmosphere helps thicken the plot in some ways..Xander not knowing about them...sure sparks alot of interest. cant wait to read more..and thanks by the way

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I hope season two live sup to people’s hopes, expectations, etc. I was trying to work a balance between the action and the humor, so I hope I hit it. So, you’re welcome. And thank you.

It's great that you've finally managed to put up a second season of this interesting series! I particulary like the interaction between Faith and Xander in this episode, they're fun characters to see together, and you write them well. Looking forward to your next chapter! :-)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Prepping the second season took longer than expected and there’ll be some re-tooling based on the reviews, so who knows how long until I get the next chapter out. Hope you’re still interested when I finally crank it out.
