Though I was disappointed to see both B/A and B/S crushed, I think it was done the way Joss would have done it, which is as much of a compliment as you're going to get from me on that issue. But...nice replacement for Angel. :D Angelus and William the Bloody were the perfect touch. But how did Spike get them in the first place?
Author's Response: Painbow and I talked about killing off both ships. I wanted her to do it because there was NO way I was going to be kind to Buffy when I wrote the end of Bangel. I love the plain matter-of-fact style she wrote the conversations in. I'll pass on your comments to Painbow. Oh and using the Immortal, I can't remember whose idea it was, but I feel like something got lost in translation. The idea was that Spike and Dawn were both in on it (the Immortal was the "package" Dawn was after), but I don't think anyone picked up on that. Oh well. Live and learn. |

Spike’s replacement for Angel in the hell dimension was GENIUS!!! Well Done! MASH in Italian- Ha! Connor as hockey player is something I wish the show would have run with, so I was really pleased to see it here. I’m glad Buffy is more or less out of the story, at least as romance is concerned. Look forward to the next episode.
Author's Response: Painbow was eagerly looking forward to crushing Spuffy and Bangel within two acts of each other. We expected all kinds of hate mail, but surprisingly the only response I got was someone asking if we were getting Buffy out of the way so Spike and Angel can get together. Oi vey. There was a thing with Dawn and Lorne that we were shooting for. Didn't come off quite the way we wanted, but Bangel and Spuffy death was the main concern. |

just read this latest episode, very well done and it's good to see them back at the hotel again. the verdict is still out a bit with Heather, she's got potential, but she kinda reminds me of Harmony, without the blond hair of course. my only concern now is... where do you guys go from here? I mean it's obvious that the whole relationship issues are now resolved, so now what? Keep them coming you guys, you can't leave us out in the cold now, just when things are getting good.
Author's Response: Give Heather time. Hell it took me well over a whole season to like Fred as more than a convenient plot device to start a rift between Gunn and Wesley (which is all she was until the end of season four). She's definitely not a ditz though. |

Hey,
I've read all these episodes on another site (something Painbow?) but I thought I'd leave a review here since we're both members.
This is one of the best, most credible and brilliantly written continuation of the show, and I love where it's going. The character voices are almost perfect and you manage to convey subtle meanings and characterization through dialogue alone. I'll be looking out for the next episode. By the way, Heather is a great OC. She's silly and ridiculous enough to not be a Mary Sue, and I'm grateful.

Author's Response: Painbow is the other writer (so far, she's written When In Rome and The Light At the End) and she posted them all on her Live Journal website. I have a really hard time writing Spike for some reason (I hate almost all of his lines in my two episodes), so it's nice to know I'm not totally messing up the character. As for Heather, she was originally going to be younger than she is now, but I didn't want to get into Dawn territory. We also wanted a female presence introduced again since it is obvious that Illyria will never be able to fill that role. I'm going out of my way to make sure she's not a Mary Sue. If you see me slipping in later episodes, please shoot me. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. |
